When I was researching whether or not to get the sleeve, I came upon something about ghrelin and it just described me to a tee. When you get the sleeve, they remove the fundus part of your stomach where most of the ghrelin is made, so you feel less (or not at all) hungry at first. We will begin making more ghrelin again, but not nearly as much. It sealed the deal for me to get this surgery. I'm only 7 days out, but I'm loving my sleeve. The hunger is only barely there and only when my stomach is truly empty. I would never have been able to stay on a diet this low calorie for even two days if it weren't for my sleeve. It rocks!!!

Had my surgery 8/14/13 and was 248. I weighed yesterday and I was 197.2! I was stuck at 206 through the holidays (didn't eat as well as I should have). As soon as I got back on plan the weight started falling off again. I'm down from a tight size 18 to a loose 14 in pants and from a 2x to an xl top (I'm a little busty). I'm so happy, feel great physically, and feel sexy again. You can do it people!

You can still nurse while on pain meds. I was on pain meds after c section and nursed.

It just goes to show you that Americans are losing sight of what good portions are. Yes ours are less than normal, but not THAT much less that what it should be.

My BMI is right at 40 and I got approved after the following (no 6 month wait):
Cardiologist clearance
Gastroenterologist clearance
Psychiatrist clearance
Blood test
Stress test
EKG
ECG
Fluoroscopy and chest x ray
Gall bladder and liver ultrasound
Nutritionist Clearance
This all took me about 2 months to get done, and 1 week wait after submittal to insurance. I have UHC Choice Plus.

I assure you that you don't feel like you had a baby. Try a c-section where that scar is about 10 times bigger. Congrats on your stomach baby.
I was still achy there for up to a couple weeks. The knife pain was for about a week and a half. They told me that they had to cut through or move (can't remember which) you muscle wall there so it would be sore for the longest.
