I'm a bridesmaid in Sept. What measurements to give now?
Do you think it would be safer to just give them your measurements as you are now? (maybe less 1 inch) and then deal with alterations the week of the wedding? I know my bridesmaids (all out of towners) all had to have alterations done the week of the wedding. I would expect that most dressmakers expect this.

liquid stage - how long does it go on for man??!!
You have solid liquids for 4 weeks? geesh. I am almost one week post band. I have Clear Liquids for one week (hard as heck to do and I am soooo wanting something of substance) , creamy/yogurts/protein shakes for week 2, mushies week 3/4 and solids by week 5. And of course, lots of water/gatorade during it all. But alas, I must stick with the old lap band addage of "follow your doctors orders!". Don't worry girl, my first week is flying by.... I hope yours gets quicker too!

I new some band buddies
Hi Esmerelda and welcome to LBT!!! 16 pounds isn't bad at all I don't think. I am hoping for 15 in my first 2 months. I know I will have to behave and not "cheat" the band too. I am positive about it though. I was one day post op and just haddddd to take a lick of the jelly packet in front of me!! I didn't eat it, just licked it a couple times. Maybe you could throw your eating energy into some sugar free candies? When dieting before, the jolly ranchers sugar free candies were awesome and satisfied my sweet tooths! I am nearly one week banded so I am still plugging away on liquids but I am soooooo looking forward to moving on to creamy stage!! And I think by reaching out to support here at LBT you have made a step towards getting help. You already have identified your problem now you just need the encouragement to do it!! We will all be your buddies here. Have you signed up for the Weight loss challenge thread yet??? Also, have you checked into some local support groups??? Welcome to LBT, I hope to see you posting more!!

What did you tell your children?
I told my 12 year old that I was having surgery to fix my stomach. That was it. He really didn't need to know much more. And he was a perfect helper when I came home! He has such a good bedside manner! Some woman is going to get a fantastic husband someday!

A Tool for Dealing with Emotional Hunger
Since this was such a fantastic thread I thought i would add a little inspirational poem that applies sooooo very much to all of us... banded or not: Yesterday Yesterday has once again, come back to let me know. That my mistakes are not forgot, today again they show. Reminding me that once again, I failed in some small way. This recall is just a hint, of what I've yet to pay. Don't be fooled and think its past, when all seems good and fine. Yesterday can be a friend, it comes here to remind. It does it as a helpful voice, to keep us all aware. If we learn from its advice, then heart ache we may spare. So yesterday come visit please, remind me once again. Tomorrow comes just much to quick, mistakes I need to mend. Remind me what I should not do, and if I've done it right. One day maybe I will learn, and win this endless fight. ~© Joan Kasemeyer~

Condolences - Blossom
I hope Blossom's family is reading these posts. I really don't know what to say or how to say it so I think I best borrow from others who say things best: Reality of Life Life isn't just full of happiness, It's sunsets, it's love, it's tears. It's the thoughts of yesterdays memories, That can wash away all out fears. It's that very painful experience, That each one of us has had. It's the laughter that fills the air, It's the tears when you are sad. It's loving that someone special, That at one time made you smile. It's the pain of losing that person, But the memories that make it worthwhile. It's that child in every one of us, Although in time we'll all be old. It's the good times we'll never forget, It's the memories we'll always hold. It's the hug that we all need, When we'd rather drown in our sorrow. It's the hope in every one of us, That makes us hold on for tomorrow. May you find peace and solitude in your memories of those who are gone but are with us forever in our hearts. By Stephanie Clark
