Update: so I'm a naughty girl and I went against my drs advice! I drank through a straw all day. My sleeve did not explode, I did not spontaneously combust, and I got in more Water than usual. If I make it through the night I guess we'll just keep it our little secret.

Zumba is only great when you have a skilled instructor with an amazing playlist - same goes with any other group fitness class such as spinning and kickboxing. I love them all with the right instructor and music (: of course a great energized groups makes a huge difference too!!

I believe about 6 weeks. I was cleared after 4 but was nervous about the jumping etc so i waited longer. The best thing about zumba is you can go at your own speed and level. If you cant do a move you improvise!! So fun and non judgmental

On wall Beginning pants 20 with next size to fit into, horse photo wearing 20 next photo wearing size 8! Wls working for me:-). I have another 30 or so to go.

I'm about 12 lbs from goal (will revise goal when I get there- want to be a bit smaller). Nothing like some good before & after pics to remind you how you're doing.

Ok I just finished my psych evaluation. It wasn't bad at all. It literally took 15min.. I only have the nutritionist appointment left. Woohoo

Almost six months out!

Wishing all of my sleeve broths and sisters a very Happy Thanksgiving! I'm keeping track of all of our newbie sleevers who have joined us since the last list update, but am not at a computer to update the list...but don't worry we'll get you there!
I'm celebrating the holiday with three kids who all have been diagnosed with either strep throat, or an ear infection. I am desperately praying to remain healthy for my surgery date on the 11th. I'm taking plenty of Airborne and using Germ-X wipes constantly, since we are staying with them while traveling. Would appreciate any prayers.
I can hardly believe that I am now under the 2 week mark. That's a lot to be thankful for.
May you all have an incredibly special Thanksgiving day!

Yeah I know we're only supposed to post before and after pics to inspire people but we got dressed up for our thanksgiving dinner and I want to share those pics so I'm starting a thread (I mean, I could make up some BS reason but really the truth is I felt good in my dress and I want to share it. and i love my kids. and my husband looked great).

I totally agree with you on the absorption issues. I expressed to him that I won't be totally off all meds and I don't want malabsorptive issues, since I still need to take them. I hope the surgery helps you :-)

Great news! Had my CT Angiography this morning and it came back normal! No surgery for a stent! Yay me! Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes! Now on the the capsule camera test and then surgery December 2nd. Then I'll be back as good as new!

Bypass has a reputation for being faster, but I don't think it is based on modern data. The sleeve was made to have more capacity at first. The sleeve is now 15% of original capacity and u have seen data showing similar speeds of loss. So it's more like two different types of jet plane now. Also, if you need to take meds for your kidneys later, they may not be as effective after bypass, because of the malabsorption. The same goes for some pain medications. I would weight my decision I'm favor of the nephrologist rather than the GP on this one. Know that either way you go, you are likely to have a similar outcome in the long term, as far as weight loss.

Thank you proudgrammy. I think he's concentrating more on rapid weight loss and not on any of the other issues, like malabsorption. I have a great Nephrologist that takes good care of me, so when he said I had to do something to get off this weight, I didn't question him.... I just made the appointment with the surgeon. I'm excited, but nervous and am very happy with my decision. You're looking good... I hope I have your results :-)

We had a long discussion about both surgeries in June. I asked him if one was better than the other, he said no, it was a matter of preference. He described it as taking a jet vs. propeller plane to NY... you'll still get there, one will just get you there faster. I am keeping an open mind. He gave me several resources and told me it was my decision, so I did the research and settled on the sleeve. He's been doing this for 40 yrs and basically he prefers the bypass. If he gave me a true medical reason, instead of it being his preference, I might consider it. But he hasn't.

I had my pre-op with the surgeon today. Good news is I'm on schedule for Dec. 17th and I don't have a pre-op diet, just continue to lose weight. The bad news is that he's trying to convince me to have the bypass due to my kidney disease. I'm Stage IV, but have been stable for 18 yrs. The WLS is to lose weight to come off a lot of my meds and the Nephrologist has no preference, just get the weight off. I'm totally for the sleeve and don't like feeling pressured by the surgeon :-/

As of today, I'm "only" overweight not obese per the BMI chart! Time to celebrate!
