  1. I have not really had a pain problem post surgery but I have noticed that when I bend over I have a sharp pain on my right hand side. It is not excruciating, but it is enough to make me make a sound, and it does hurt. I know that the right side is where they take the stomach out and it can be more painful, and while this incision is painful when I stand up, or other odd times, this hurts more than it normally does, I almost feel like my stomach flips over when I bend over. I would just not bend over but that is pretty hard at this point. It does not feel better to crouch down because my whole big stomach scrunches into a large mass in front of me. Does this happen for a while in the beginning?
  2. im not allowed to have fruit in my yogurt so i have been having the fage greek with honey. i cant wait until i can have fruit though because im having a hard time getting the right blend and i would hate to cheat with yogurt. i cant sleep either. i have had this problem before though so i was figuring it was just me being me. its weird because i will be super exhausted, even my eyes will burn but when i lie down, nothing.
  3. if it makes you feel any better (you dont have to admit it) my mother in law had gastric bypass about 6 years ago and has regained all of her weight. she and i have a love hate relationship so i havent told her about my surgery. she has lots of opinions i usually prefer not to hear. no reason to add another subject i dont want to hear about.
  4. this may not be the right thing for everyone but i have major poop problems whenever i have surgery or have a baby. i didnt take stool softeners at first because so many people have diarrhea but that was not the case with me. I have now added 2 stool softeners a day to the myriad of pills i take and i have started to go. not to be super gross but i cant wait to see how much weight i actually have lost once im regular.
  5. At first I wasnt sure if you were the one on the left or right. You look like a whole new person congratulations.
  6. tonight for the first time sense my surgery i was nauseous, it was from taking all my pills, i cant believe how many i am on and i think it is a little much for my little sleeve. i have 2 for bp, 1 for allergies, 2 for acne, my giant multivitamin, and 1 for acid. I am supposed to take 2 more multivitamins and a calcium but i dont think i can right now. i am desperate for some of them to go away and since the only weight related ones are bp (and ive heard great things on the boards about leaving the hospital off bp meds) im hoping those may go away soon. i have lost 20 lbs since my surgery. i bought a chewable multivitamin from gnc but it is disgusting and i cant do it. anybody know of others that wont make me puke?
  7. i will tell you i havent used pain meds at home and actually stopped them in the hospital. you dont need them. i had my gallbladder out before and was terrified, but for some reason its just not a very painful surgery,
  8. it is so interesting to me that we all have such different experiences. i can drink water and protein shakes at a pretty decent speed, until i have eaten food. after i eat food i am so easily filled for the rest of the day i find it annoying. when i am eating, i dont have any special signal, the entire time i eat it is as though the food is pushing any gas in my body out. the meal is usually over for me when i eat food and dont expel any gas (charming dinner mate huh?) it literally feels like the gas has to leave for the food to have room. i havent thrown up although my aunt was sleeved very near my date and she does all the time. also even though i was sleeved after her i think i can eat more in volume than she can. 3/4 a can of chili sounds like a lot to me and i would probably be freaking out too if i was you. i am amazed at how quickly i get full. it takes me way longer to prepare the meal than it does to consume it, but i dont think this is true for everyone. my surgeon gave me a handout that said eat 1/4 - 1/2 c, but dont ever eat more than 1/2c at a time (im 10 days out) so clearly some people can. maybe just try to eat more slowly? i am having the hardest time not drinking i AM SO THIRSTY but if i drink 30 min after it doesnt get rid of my fullness so im figuring its ok.
  9. well you go in about 2 hrs before the surgery, the surgery takes at least an hour, and they say you wake up for an hr. when i woke up i wanted to puke and was loopy. my husband reminds me that i said i wanna go for a walk and the passed back out about 4 times before i actually got out of the bed. im sure she is fine, just probably doped up. i didnt call anyone until the day i was being released.
  10. i personally think we are all in recovery, i cant imagine removing 85% of your stomach without having a serious food addiction.
  11. ive got a few i found online on my blog. FYI I had the squash and it was not a good thing first thing I have eaten that has given me chills and made me feel queasy, I didnt vomit, but I wanted to, just havent had a chance to post that to the blog yet. So far my favorite meal is refried beans, salsa, sour cream and diced jalapenos.
  12. While I know the "what do you think about going against my Drs advice" post are not the most popular, Im looking for some advice. I have been cleared for walking at least 30 min per day. My surgeon didnt specifically state no to the exercise bike but it is not listed on my little handout. At the original seminar for the surgery he said do whatever exercise you were comfortable with as soon as you were comfortable. Heres the thing, I dont have a treadmill. I have a recumbent bike, and an elliptical. I feel confident the elliptical is too much, I get tired in the shower, but I feel that recumbent bike and treadmill seem comparable. The only possible problem I can see is with the legs going up and maybe pulling incisions, and I think that is a long shot. I want to start exercising. For reasons that may not make sense to you, I am a psycho, and have really big issues with walking outside, I live in the City and feel everyone is watching me and judging me while I exercise, so would REALLY prefer to do it in my home. I am scouring craigslist for a treadmill but havent found one yet. Anybody here use an exercise bike? What are your thoughts about use 10 days out?
  13. Clearly we are soul mates. My husband would always ask me why I ate sandwiches (burgers, etc.) in a circle and be baffled when I said I liked the middle the best. Why dont you eat the middle first then? I never really had a good answer but I couldnt eat the middle first for some reason. Yesterday I was eating my refried beans and I was eating around the outside and by the end I still had my little dollop of sour cream, salsa and jalapenos I had taken my time to finely chop, but I was pretty sure I was full. I will have to remember this lesson and work on changing my way of thinking especially since it seems like I never know how much Im going to be able to eat. I ate almost a whole fage yogurt this morning but 3 tbsp of chicken salad and potato salad last night had me about to explode.
  14. So I am now on pureed food and this eating thing is really a hard time. This morning I had a protein shake, and about 3 tbsp of refried beans (1pm). Then I went to a gathering and had about 2 tbsp of chicken salad and a tsp of potato salad. Im pretty sure I was full, no pain still but it felt like I really needed to pass gas in anyway possible. That was at 6 pm when I got home around 10:30 I still felt to full to eat but I figured I would have another protein shake because I am supposed to. I am full outta my mind. There is no way a 3rd meal is happening tonight, and Im not sure the rest of this protein shake is either. Im so confused, am I supposed to eat even though Im not hungry, if so then how the hell am I supposed to meet these nutritional requirements. If I eat when Im not hungry cant I stretch my sleeve? Im about to explode and I didnt eat anywhere near what I was supposed to. I dont want to be malnourished, hurt my losses or lose my hair either.
  15. You are right the almond milk has almost no protein, I bought one that has 5x the protein in it so it had 5g. I also use the silk vanilla milk but it seems like 1% gives the most protein. I only have to get 20g per shake so the milk is just for extra.
  16. ohhh maybe i misunderstood, deflation is real. keep in mind that i have two kids i breastfed for a year a piece but when i lose weight my boobs look deflated, and are really just a lot of skin tube socks with pool balls sounds accurate. I am pretty sure this surgery was the first in a series for me and ive only lost 16 lbs.
  17. Bayshore is unflavored really tasteless?
  18. im not trying to be an ass but is there really such a thing as a perky g cup? i feel like at that size they kinda have to lay down and you shouldnt let that one hold you back.
  19. Im post op now but my surgeon didnt do a pre op diet either. Ive read that surgeons do it to shrink the liver so it is not in the way during the surgery. I asked my surgeon about it and he said that he didnt care about shrinking the liver because he just used one staple to stitch it out of the way during the procedure and sauterized it after and never had a problem. I was on liquids only the day before my surgery but I think that is a normal surgery thing not a sleeve thing.
  20. I think the best I have had so far was the syntax nectar cappuccino and chocolate truffle, they have a variety pack I would suggest but it really differs from person to person. I bought it because a lot of people liked their different flavors like apple and lemonade, but I find that chocolate masks the protein flavor best to me and I hated most of the fruity ones, (I added iced tea crystal light to the iced tea one and it was much better). I have a few protein shake deals and freebies on my blog if you are looking for some one stop shopping. I also just ordered from chike because I have heard good things and have yet to find one I love. I will tell you I hate all of the powders from GNC they are way to thick in my opinion and make me want to puke. I think the pre-made ones are better but I still hate them because although they are 25 g of protein, they are 14 oz and I usually only make my protein shakes 8 oz, aint nobody got time to be drinking one protein shake all day!
  21. I have heard it differs from person to person. Im only a week out so I the girls are the same but I know in the past when I have lost weight, I lose the girls. My aunt was sleeved a month ago and when I spoke to her the other day she told me shes got a quarter cup of tits left. In my family I guess there one of the first thing to go. Ive already got a mexico jar for my plastics.
  22. It took me forever to find this post again. I may have been called a Type A in the past once or twice. I was walking at my normal pace, that of an attorney always late to court, but that calmed down quickly when I noticed I always spontaneously busted into never ending sweats. I have had an opportunity to evaluate now and I do think that feeling super tired seems to coincide with days I dont go to work. I think I have probably been tired and I just fail to notice when I have something else to do. Thanks for looking at the blog, it helps me deal with this whole process.
  23. I can bust down some water! I was reading other threads and worrying that I was doing too much but I drunk a lot of water before and even with trying to be cognizant of trying to drink smaller sips I sometimes slip up and chug a bit. It doesnt bother me, if I do it back to back I feel it though. Im thinking if it hurts something it will hurt.
  24. I am one week out today and my surgeon told me he wants me walking 30 min per day. He doesnt care if it is on a treadmill or outside. He doesnt care if it is 10 mins 3x/day but thats his expectation. He said nothing else, but then said no lifting over 15 lbs? This is all on a written form so I didnt ask him about it because it wasnt a conversation. I have an exercise bike, and an elliptical, I feel the elliptical is a no, but Im thinking the recumbent bike it ok? I dont have a treadmill unfortunately.
  25. I am only one week out today and I have not had this experience at all so this might not be the right answer, but I think eat again? My surgeon says I am supposed to eat 1/4c -1/2 c 3x a day and 2 protein shakes on pureed foods. It does not sound like you are eating anywhere near that much and maybe thats why your hungry? At this point Im still not sure my hunger is hunger, its just nothing like it used to be, and it happens like 1/3 days. When I think Im hungry, I eat though. I think your supposed to listen to your body as long as your not overeating.
