    Thanksgiving Challenge

This is just what I needed! I'm in!! SW 256 CW 211 Thanksgiving goal 199
  2. I asked my surgeon about being a slow loser when I saw him 6 weeks post op. I had only lost 22lbs. He said not to worry about it and not to stress over it. He also said the majority of the time when you see huge losses in the beginning it has more to do with fluids than anything else. He said that it's not until about 3 months out that your Fluid retention and fluctuation really starts to level out but to be patient and stick with the plan! The scale will move, I promise!!!

    Oatmeal?

I could have steel cut oats starting the 3rd week.

I did a bad bad thing.

Yum, Bill Millers! what area of Texas are you from? I'm near Corpus Christi... Anywho, about a week after surgery I felt like you, just had the need to chew something. You have to remember to take it slow though and give your tummy time to heal. Start drinking your Protein shakes and getting your liquids in and you'll be eating "real food" before you know it! My craving was more for chewing than anything so I also started chewing sugar free gum again. It helped a lot. Good luck to you!!

  6. Love it! Sounds like we have very similar ideals towards our new life style. I'm 6.5 weeks out and only lost 20lbs but I'm working out and eating less (around 1000-1200 calories). Look forward to seeing your progress!

    question..

I the same way! When I weigh the same as or less than I did in the morning I'm always excited to weigh the following morning because I know for sure the scale will have dropped again

    Im not losing. Urghhhh!

I'm feeling the same way. At 2 weeks out I hit a stall and had only lost 12 pounds when I went to the Dr. He said when he saw me at 6 weeks he wanted me to have lost between 25-30 pounds. Well, Monday I'll be 6 weeks and I've only lost 17 pounds. I'm drinking all my water, trying to get in all my protein, I've started using an elliptical (at this point I can only do 5 minute intervals but I'm on it for 15 minutes a day). I teach life skills for 3rd-5th grade so this last week I've also been on my feet and moving quite a bit. I'm feeling very discouraged and worried that I'm not going to be successful. Lately, I've been stalled out at 17pounds for almost 2 weeks now. :/

    July sleevers please check in..

    July 22nd also. 17.5 since surgery 31 since pre-op.
  11. My surgeon was the same. At 2.5 weeks out I'd only lost 12.5lbs. He said the next time he sees me I should be up to 25-30lbs lost. He said so, in a month you need to lose another 15 or so lbs. I felt discouraged. I'm following the nutrition plan and exercising, it's just coming off slow!!
  12. I was cleared at my 2 week appointment. The glue and scabs were mostly off and I was left with pink little scars. He said the outside was sealed up tight so I was good for a bath or a pool.

Haven't had a drink, but according to both my NUT and surgeon, you will feel it quicker.

    Not full

You're welcome, I hope the information you get here helps. A great support system is essential. I feel lucky to have found this board and I also have the support of my sister who had surgery almost 3 years ago. Good luck on your journey!

    Not full

I'm 2.5 weeks out and just saw my Dr today. He said my goal for now is to eat 3-4oz of protein per meal, taking between 20-30 minutes to finish. By the time I'm where you are, my goal is 3-4oz of protein with a small serving of vegetables as well. The goal isn't to feel full anymore, it's to feel satisfied. Perhaps 1 egg isn't enough and you can handle 2? Also, make sure you're getting your fluids in but waiting 30 minutes prior to eating and 30 minutes after eating to have a drink.

I was sleeved July 22nd and I'm feeling the same way. My follow up appointment is Wednesday and I can't wait to be able to eat beans, cheese, eggs, and fork tender meats and veggies!

    Scale is my enemy

I get on the scale everyday too, it usually motivates me but at this point I think I need to stop for a while. I'm almost 2 weeks post op but the for the last almost week the scale has stopped. The bad thing is, it stopped where I would plateau prior to being sleeved. ???? I'm thinking maybe because I'm still on full liquids and only getting around 300-350 calories per day my body thinks its starving? Not really sure though. ????

    weight gain 13days post op?

Hormones play a part in your weight too. I always weigh more the closer I get to my cycle. Also, think about what you had yesterday. More sodium? Could be water retention. I agree though, it seems to stress you out to see the daily numbers. So once a week on the scale is best. Keep it up, it'll keep happening! Good luck
  19. My dr puts his patients on nexium for the first month. He said its to reduce stomach acids while the stomach is healing. Made sense to me! Something like nexium or Prilosec may be worth looking in to. I take it first thing in the morning, an hour before consuming anything.
  20. I was sleeved Monday (22nd). I'm on full liquids as well. I don't have any problem getting my thinner, watery liquids in but do have some difficultly with the denser liquids, Protein shakes, yogurt, malto meal Cereal etc. I can only handle 1-2 oz of those at a time. More than that and I feel like I have a bubble in my chest. I never feel "full" I just seem to be in a constant state of not being hungry. With that being said, 4 oz per hour is the minimum. My dr said 2 oz should be Water or water substitute like crystal light and the other 2 oz full liquids. It's ok to have more liquids than that, just slow it down and you'll be fine.
