  1. I agree... do what works best for you. I do at least 30 min consecutive a day and then add in 10 mins here and there to help prevent the gas build-up. Keep up the good work, and get those feet going, it really does help. :rolleyes2:
  2. Thanks! Unfortunately, the only soup my doc lists as "acceptable" in the liquid stage other than broth is tomato.... so, I've been afraid to try the other cream of ___ soups... I may have to call and ask... I'm getting queasy just thinking of more sweets.
  3. So, I've got another week on liquids and the only thing that I'm allowed that isn't sweet is broth or tomato Soup... but I'm so sick of sweets. Whenever I drink a Protein shake, I literally get queezy feeling... any ideas? I've got some unflavored Protein powder from GNC but it's slimey and makes me wanna gag, so I can't use that... I know I shouldn't be whining, but this is what I'm considering the bandster hell... that and the passing gas/bad breath... ugh! :rolleyes2:
  4. I've had it too... and it's nasty! My body is making some of the nastiest smells (both ends!) ever in history! I'm so glad I'm not working, I'd be mortified for anyone other than DH to smell it. He comes home and wonders why I have a candle burning everyday... well, he wouldn't want to be around if it werent!
  5. Wow, WVgal, you had a nightmare of an experience! I'm so sorry!! Today I cooked for my hubby. I made a chicken casserole with the stuffing and soup... I Love that meal, but I knew I could make it and enjoy the broth from boiling the chicken (I add onion, celery, and spices when I boil the chicken)... so now it's in the oven and I have to say it's the best looking one I've ever made!! (of course!) But I wanted to do this for him b/c he's been going out to eat everynight so not to eat in front of me and he's been so helpful throughout this process... so it's my little gift to him. Boy it smells good! Maybe when I'm on mushies, I'll fix me a little stuffing with some broth... YUM.
  6. Don't sweat the numbers, y'all!! My ticker is including all of the weight I've lost since I started my healthy lifestyle in August. It helps me to see the whole picture.
  7. I haven't taken pics yet, but last night when I was just in panties getting ready for bed, DH came in the room and said "ya know... you're really starting to look smaller!"... I said "flattery ain't gettin' ya no nookie, yet buster!" LOL BUT he said he wasn't even thinking that, but was serious... that I was looking smaller. Woohoo!!
  8. Omg, I literally LOL'd at that! siging a solo! I've only been banded a week and haven't even thought of having sex yet, so I am no help, but I hope when I finally do give up the nookie, I don't have port pain! Hope you feel better.
  9. I love the new look! But I miss the quick link for "subscribed threads" that was on the right... but I can adjust. Thanks for all of your hard work.
  10. There is a program fee at WLSC for around $700 (I'm not sure the exact amount). It's due after you meet one on one with the doc and go through your pre-op counseling. Basically, right before you take your classes for surgery. Best of luck as you begin your journey!
  11. Ok, still a little sore and pretty sick of shakes, LOL. But it's worth it!! I've been walking everyday and am trying to regain my energy. I'm looking forward to my post-op with Dr. Clark next week. I can't believe I finally have my band. I really can't tell its in there yet. I'm not hungry hardly at all, but when I forget my protein for more than 3-4 hours I get all dizzy and woozy feeling. So, I need to be better about making sure I'm getting in my protein in regular intervals. 13 or 14 lbs gone since Weds, so I'm thrilled with that!
  12. Hey everybody... sounds like all are doing well!! We're on our way to health and fitness!!! Woohoo!!!
  13. Glad to hear everyone is doing well!! Congrats on all of your losses! I have a question, I keep reading folks are writing about mashed potatoes for mushies... but I didn't think we could eat those? There's no protein in them?? I know I'd love them, but my hubby is the protein police, LOL...Maybe I could sneak in some mac-n-cheese, at least the cheese has protein. LOL
  14. I was just banded on Weds and will be traveling this weekend with my folks. They'll be on vacation and I'm sure they'll want to eat out. Is there anything we can eat when on the liquid phase at a restaurant? I looked at some online menus and all of the soups are either french onion (no protein) or chunky, like brocolli/cheddar or chilli or something like that. Any suggestions on how to deal with this weekend and not ruin their time as well?
  15. Thanks, Maggies! I'm sure you've done great!!
  16. I'm walking 30 consecutive minutes daily and then every hour I'm walking about 8 min (15 laps around my living/kitchen area). While doing my laps, I'm working in some arm movements to help work the upper body as well. It's kinda addictive. :gasp:
  17. I've just been donating clothes to goodwill. I don't work outside the home, so as long as I can have a couple pair of jeans and some tops to rotate, I'm fine. My yoga pants and tshirts that I wear around the house, I'll wear untill they fall off me, LOL.
  18. I'd say just keep walking. That's the best thing I've been able to do so far... still dealing with it.
  19. Flinstones too... the purple ones... haven't looked to see who it is... LOL

I will be so glad to be able to actually go into Victoria's Secret to get a bra! Never done that! But my tatas are tiny (B cup) so I pray I don't lose too much!! Thank God for padding!!
  21. I really needed this thread right now. I have had my period for almost 2 weeks and was banded last Weds. It got worse afterwards (I think b/c of the blood thinners they gave me in the OR) but anyways... it doesn't look like it's ever gonna go away! If I still have it in a week, I'm planning to call the doc. I've had one every month for the last 3 months (since I started losing weight preop) so there shouldn't be but so much lining for it to shed...
  22. my pain is in my ribcage too.... but it's on the right side.. I'm pretty sure it's the gas.
  23. I just wanna say that this thread was so helpful! I'm 5 days post op and doing pretty well. My suggestion in addition to what's been mentioned, is a timer. For the first day or so I had a timer set to remind me to sip my fluids, no lie! Now I set it to remind me to walk laps around the house every hour and to do my deep breathing/coughing. Speaking of which... it just went off.. time for deep breaths and laps!
  24. Ok, so I had a little gas today and thought I'd try that position... not good to try less than a week postop! Too sore in the abdomen to try to bend like that.... UGH!! Maybe I'll be healed enough by the time I start eating and run the risk of getting stuck I can try that if I need to.
  25. So far so good! I had a BM last night and it didn't hurt so much as the smell!! OMG!! DH came home about an hour afterwards and I was so happy to have had my first bm, but he was like, "dayum it's ripe in there!"... I knew it was bad! LOL I've been walking at least 30 min consecutively since Thurs and doing pretty well. When I was walking today, I had a brainstorm. I have a timer that I set for 1 hour. At 10 min before the hour is up, it beeps, then again at 5 min before. So... I set it for an hour and when the 10 min beep goes off, I do my 5 "deep breaths" and cough, then start walking laps around the house. Carrying the timer with me (resistance training, LOL) I stop when there's one more minute left and do more deep breaths and cough. That way, I'm making sure I'm breathing and getting 8 min of walking in per hour. If I can do that consistently, I'll be really adding in some activity. It doesn't have to be consecutive to count and it'll help further prevent the gas. Now, how long are we supposed to be breathing into our spirometers and coughing? Just curious.... I sneezed today and was terrified, but it didn't hurt. Thank God!!
