Any October Bandsters!??!?!
I have no idea about slipped bands, but I know where it used to take me a half hour to sip a half cup of liquids, I can practically drink it in 10 min now. That makes me nervous.... I start eating mushies tomorrow. I hope that slows me down some.

Creative Mushies
I'd forgotten about the mashed cauliflower from my Atkin's days! Woohoo! That's not a carby veggie is it?

Sharp Pain
That was the only pain I had after my surgery (in my ribcage). It'll get better. Mine lasted for 2 days, but I did a lot of walking and had my hubby rub my back on my ribs... he said he could actually hear the gas moving when he rubbed me. I also took liquid Tylenol and it helped with the pain. Good luck! It'll get better.

Should I be concerned?
This is the first week that I'm really going to focus on exercising... I've been trying to walk at least 30 min a day, but from here on out, NO excuses!! Thanks for the continued encouragement and support!

Sick of Sweets!!
Smashing pumpkins is the name of the group of folks who were banded in October. On a happy note... I figured out a way to eat what I'm supposed to and increase the Protein some... Last night I made tomato soup but instead of using Water to fix it, I used beef broth. It tripled the protein amount per serving. Woohooo!!

Sick of Sweets!!
Thanks guys!! I don't get it, I'm allowed to have low sugar yogurt right now as long as it doesn't have seeds or big chunks of fruit... what's the difference in that and cream soups??

Holy Protein Cow! Cottage Cheese!
You mix yogurt or cottage cheese with hummus? I love hummus and had forgotten about that... how's the protein for that? I'm really looking forward to mushies next Thursday!!!

Holy Protein Cow! Cottage Cheese!
I saw the greek yogurt at Walmart the other day but was afraid to try it... then again, I'm so sick of the sweets right now, it might be a good thing to try... maybe mix in some savory seasonings....

Anyone else go through this ? Help!
I'm pretty sure what you're experiencing is normal. For me, my feelings of depression weren't about food, but loneliness. My DH was trying to be supportive by not eating around me, so he'd work all day (while I'm at home with the cats) and then come home drop off his bag from work, give me a kiss and go get some dinner. Then he'd come home an hour later from eating a dinner out either by himself or with his mom and I'd get so sad. Seemed like he was home only in time to watch tv and sleep... I guess our life pretty much revolved around going out to dinner before, so now I'm trying to learn new strategies to cope with the feelings of being alone. Last night I fixed him dinner; I knew I couldn't eat it but I figured if I made it, it was my decision to do so and at least he could stay home with me and eat a dinner I'd fixed while I sipped my broth. Now that I'm less than a week from mushies, I have started dreaming about what I can eat at that stage... but I am pretty sure that's normal too.

Should I be concerned?
I've read numerous times about how folks who had high blood pressure or diabetes went off their meds and were "normal" almost immediately after their surgery. Well, I've been monitoring my bp and sugar while continuing my meds and the numbers are no better, in fact my bp has gone up a hair since surgery. Am I expecting too much too quick?? Is there any guarantee that my numbers are going to go to normal? I am enjoying the weight loss, but I mainly got the band to get rid of the diabetic monster and high blood pressure that had invaded my body!

Miracle cure for constipation...at least for me
I'm still in liquids stage, but when I can eat for real, I'll be adding apricots to my routine... I've never been constipated until now, in my life!!! I bought some Senecot-s per recommendation of the pharmacist, but I'm scared to take that too, LOL. I wonder if I could find apricot juice and if it would do the same thing?!?

your favorite chewable vitamin...
I saw that the Bariatric Advantage folks have sampler packs for about $6 specifically for weight loss surgery patients. That might be worth checking into.

your favorite chewable vitamin...
Well, I was doing Flinstones, but the aftertaste was killing me!! So, I bought the centrum orange ones... they taste nasty (just like the flinstones, LOL) but at least they don't seem to have that aftertaste... I feel like I have vitamin in my teeth for hours with the flinstones... blech!

OCT 29th anyone?
WVgal, that's scary stuff with that anesthesiologist!! I own a Yahoo group, it's not hard. I'd suggest that you have it set to "members only" for privacy and have folks actually have to be approved to join rather than automatic approval so the group doesn't get spammed. Yahoo groups that aren't closed are really suseptible for spamming. But other than that, it's really simple. Thanks again!
