  1. I am one week away! I am so close that I can taste it!
  2. I must confess, I cheated in my diet yesterday. No matter what I ate I could not get my blood sugar up. So I had a couple prices of pizza. I felt bad afterwards but today is a new day.
  3. I am in the west region. that does make a difference.
  4. I have tricare prime and after you get the referral to see the bariatric doctor you have to do a 6 month supervised diet and be within the requirements. I also had to have a psych evaluation. The surgeon may have other requirements different than tricare but you also have to fulfill those too.I started my journey in April and now I am 10 days from surgery. My approval took about 2 weeks and was approved the first time around. After you get your referral, you want to make sure that you get everything scheduled as soon as possible. If you have any more questions i'll be happy to answer them!
  5. Why would one not have to take the injections? I'm just asking because I don't know. I guess I am blessed that I really don't have any major medical problems from my weight...(slight high Bp, heel pain, sore back... ). I don't want to develop any serious problems either, that's why I am trying to fix this now. In addition, I want to be around for my kids. With a family history of heart issues I need to take good care of myself, which regretfully...I haven't. I'm so thankful to have all the people on here to talk to and read all of everyone's stories and info. I am scared...but...the info, support and perspective of everyone here helps me a lot. It's to prevent blood clots. Some surgeons recommend it others don't.
  6. It does go by so fast. Before you know it you will be in recovery on the road to the new you!
  7. Congrats! I hope for a smooth recovery!
  8. I have fears but as with any surgery there are risks involved. I don't have to do the lovenox injections thank god but they don't differ from insulin injections.
  9. Started my diet today, feeling pretty good because I can have fruit and veggies and yogurt! 10 days till surgery and I am getting very anxious. But nonetheless, excited!
  10. Had my pre op today and I am less nervous. I absolutely love my surgeon. I had an EKG and blood work too. 12 days!
  11. I had mine put in June 2013 and Just the first month was bad. Heavy bleeding and cramping but now I don't have a period and I must say it is lovely. But keep in mind that everyones body is different and reacts differently.
  12. I am scheduled for January 20, 2014 and I am feeling less nervous after reading all of this. Thank you all for your support!

  15. I have my surgery scheduled jan 20th also! My preop is on the 8th! I'm so ready. When do you start your liquid diet? I start the 9th. I start mine on the 10th. And it's not full liquid thank god. I can have fruit and veggies and yogurt and many other things
  16. eek! that sounds like a nightmare!
  17. My list of food/drinks included diet v8splash,crystal light my liquids have to be sugar free other than protein. I might just have to suck it up.
  18. I am scheduled at 1 pm for my surgery on the 20th!
  19. Try diet v8 juice tropical blend flavor w/1scoop of plain protein use shaker bottle,it mixes easy &taste great w/20grams of protein per scoop. Try it before surgery even w/berry flavor ,also sold at Wal-Mart for $2 bottle. For my pre-op diet any protein drink that I have has to has less than 6 grams of carbs. I might try the unflavored protein in yogurt.
  20. even now I cannot find a protein powder that isn't too sweet. I have a cookies and cream kind and it is too sweet for me. So far all I have is a personal blender, 1 cup pyrex bowls, a 1 ounce measuring cup and my robe and socks. My shopping list keeps getting bigger and bigger.
  21. What things has everyone found useful to use post-op? I don't want to buy anything that I will not use. And what scale is the best one to have? I have so many questions.
  22. My New Years resolution is to get to a healthy weight so my husband and I can get pregnant. And also to get a sexy dress to wear for his homecoming. I'll be a different lady when this deployment is over!
