    Sounds like you are pre-op???
saying on the board - "one thing we have in common is that we're all different"
docs and NUTS have different rules about things
some of "them" say no coffee - "never, ever"
others say after a certain time period you can have alittle coffee
some say no alcohol for 6 months
    others say.............
    wait 6 months, 6 weeks, 6 days, 6 minutes etc - ..
soda - some/many say NO, NO, NO
    others say .................
no straws, others say its ok
sex - some might say wait til you feel ok, then take it slowly, easy for awhile (no crazy acrobats!)
other docs might say NO NO NO to sex forever!!!!
    gotcha!!!!
so..........the answer to your question (oh no, what was your question again LOL)
alcohol - soda - never say never!!!! unless doc says so
i drink coffee, no alcohol, straws or soda/carbonation for this grammy
listen to your NUT and surgeon ALWAYS like they were amongst the highest power!!!

    good luck with surgery

Malugo reacted to LilMissDiva Irene in Low Fat or Low Carbs?
Hello Bry, as someone who prefers well balanced meals it's the kind of fats and carbs rather than complete avoidance of either that should be looked into. Fats should not be saturated or trans, and be higher in Omega 3 which is a heart healthy fat. Animal fats are the worst, so if you eat meat be sure to trim the fat off and cook with extra virgin olive oil or something similar.
Carbs are not evil, it's the type of carb that is bad. Obviously vegetables and fruits offer our bodies natural Vitamins and antioxidants that we need. It's always better to consume them naturally on top of any supplements that we take. I would never suggest to anyone to avoid these types of carbs to lower the carb count at the end of the day. Whole grains are good too and provide a lot of Fiber which majority of Americans lack even with a normal stomach. Although we can live without grains and some people are allergic to them, but I do enjoy whole grains myself and it was never a contributor to weight gain or a hindrance to my weight loss. The carbs we should avoid are anything with refined sugar and any foods with this additive, and it goes by a long list of names. You would do yourself a great favor by learning them all. They are also known as "white carbs".
It all boils down to calories in and calories out, while making the healthiest choices for our bodies. If you ever get the chance take a course on Nutrition. I have taken several and I will be forever grateful that I did. I personally think it should be a requirement of any living human being, we learn how to do our jobs, but we don't learn how to take care of our Vessels.

I really wanted to do a 1 year update but got really distracted. I am 13 months out of surgery and have lost 150 lbs! Went from a size 24 to a size 10. I feel absolutely amazing and have all this energy. I am truly a new person! If I had to do it all over again I would time and time again! People are amazed that I am the same person. Here are a couple pics!

What's up guys. Today makes one year post op. I've lost a total of 137 pounds and I still think getting sleeved was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Alot has changed in this year. I'm in a new relationship I will start music Engineering School in April and I've lost my job of 9 years. All these are good things though even being fired from my job. I can't complain it was good to me for 9 years and it helped me get the Surgery so it was well worth it. I love my new life. I work out 3 to 4 times a week. My weight is between 170 to 175. I'm lifting weights and running mainly. I eat healthy for the most part but I still indulge every once in a while (mostly popcorn....inny). One of the best things about being sleeved is being inspirations for so many people around me. I know 2 people who have watched my progress and who have also gotten sleeved. I'm gonna keep up the good fight. See you on the losers bench.

Wow I can't believe how quick this last 6 months have gone. I remember first week out thinking how am I going to get through this as it really was difficult in the beginning adjusting to new foods, new portions, limitations but the fact that I have reached goal has made me feel do proud of what I have achieved and who I now. My confidence has increased 10 fold, I'm not grumpy and down in the dumps and I am so much happier that my children and husband have seen the new happy go lucky me that my husband remembers 10 years ago when we first met. So I was sleeved 23rd September last year weighing in at 90kg at 157cm. Although my height hasn't changed lol I am currently 33.4kg down sitting at 56.6kg with a normal (or what they call normal) bmi. Here is a before and after photo. Would love to hear about other peoples journeys xx

I think you need to read over your recent posts in both your accounts, its all about food portions and overeating.
Concern about stretching your sleeve knowingly eating more than you are told to saying your going to overeater’s anonymous etc
It doesn’t; effect any of us if you manipulate or twist what your told to do and not follow your rules it only effects you.
Showing concern one day for what you are doing then explaining it away with why no its actually ok for you to knowingly overeat the next is going to cause issues for yourself.
Again not any of us but you and you only.

A little over a year later. Started at 253 now 145. 20 pounds from goal. Thank you gastric sleeve. Changed my self esteem changed my life. I wish i had better preop pictures but I always stayed away from cameras. The first two are a day before surgery the last one was a couple weeks ago. I'd have this surgery again and again. The first few months adjusting was Hell but I wouldn't change a thing. I love my sleeve.

    Hi Sassy,
I'm in the Tampa Bay Area hoping to get sleeved in July by Dr. Koppman at Flagler in St Augustine. There are only a handful of hospitals that United will allow me to use.

Malugo got a reaction from She's_Sleeved in Why did you choose the Sleeve?
Band was never an option for me either, I have a friend who did the band and she only had problems....always sick, she already changed it to sleeve and great results. I have few friends with the bypass but I always thought it was too severe, couple other friends with the sleeve and the results were awesome for them and no issues either. So I dreamt of the sleeve for 3 years until I finally made the call to the dr to see if my insurance would approve of it and 2 1/2 months later, I got the surgery done. I love my sleeve and I love the way I feel now.
