  1. Wow! That sounds pretty restricted! I am 10 weeks out and can eat 2/3 oz of Protein (chicken or similar), bit of tomato and a couple of tablespoons of mash at a sitting. I try to eat three meals a day, with a couple of Snacks (banana, cracker with cheese). But that's not always the case every day. Yesterday, I couldn't eat my whole portion of porridge, today I could. Can't eat rice, Pasta, salad, red meat but can eat small portions of chicken, egg, fish and minced beef, cooked veggies, Soups etc. It means I can go out with friends for meals and although I eat like a bird compared to them, I feel my portions are getting better. Everyone's different but if you are asking, do you feel you should be eating more and can't? How's your weight loss? Can you drink your guilds easily?
  2. Same BMI as u to start, height 5'2 and weight 207 - 10 weeks out today, 40lbs down and I don't think that's too shabby! Weightloss has been steady, I have drunk water and eaten exactly as per the instructions. No drama with the scales as i weigh myself no more than once a week. Have had a couple of weeks with no weight loss but stayed calm and, as everyone says, it passes. Have 27lbs to go and I intend to keep doing more of the same! But being sleeved is the best thing I have ever done for myself - good luck :-)
  3. Sleeved 4/26, as of today down 40lbs since surgery plus 16lbs Pre surgery. Can't remember last time I felt this good or happy :-)
  4. Congratulations! Your description of your boobs pre surgery is exactly what mine look like now, lol. After a bad reaction to the anaesthetic during my sleeve, I was initiallynreluctant to do any more. But as I shrink, the boobs have gotta go!!! Hope you do post pics as u go, but u sound remarkably well and happy already.
  5. I don't call it a diet, it's now just how I eat to stay healthy - the new "normal". Never want to use the word "diet" again.... :-) Good luck when u get sleeved, I have no regrets, it has changed my life!
  6. Congratulations!!! Pleased to hear you are doing great, hope ur health is well too. Am now 9 weeks out and my arthritis continues to give me no trouble. Was in New Orleans recently for a weeks holiday and walked for hours every day. The combo of weight loss and arthritis in remission meant I wasn't exhausted and didn't miss doing one thing :-))) Hope everyone else is making good progress!
  7. Thank you all for the encouragement and advice. This is a whole new world but I am going to be me :-)))) LI Gemini NY, he doesn't know I've been sleeved, not sure that will be a conversation for a first date - but who knows! We are going to a lively bar in the city which, even on a Monday, should have some atmosphere. The clothes thing is a big question. It's a fairly casual bar, but I still want to look good. My body has changed hugely, even after a 34 lbs loss, and I am down 4-5 clothes sizes - but I still have the girls.... was fitted for a new bra and I am looking va-voom lol! But not sure what to wear, so will be spending a large part of the day doing a private fashion show to myself. Not that I have a lot of clothes to choose from :-)
  8. Omg, hadnt even factored S.E.X in - just crippled going through door of bar. But thanks for making me laugh :-))))
  9. On Monday I have my first date since my sleeve 8 weeks ago. In fact it's my first date in almost 33 years, lol. Husband and I spilt 3 years ago and I haven't been confident enough to date - until now. Thank u sleeve. But am absolutely terrified!!! Any words of encouragement????
  10. Love it - thanks for sharing, lol!!!!!
  11. Janice, it's a month out, you and your body have been through a lot physically and emotionally. You may not like how your body looks now, but who's to say what it will look like in another month or three months? This is very early in your journey for you to believe that your body won't change further and that you are stuck with a body you appear to hate. I didn't mentally prepare myself in case I didn't like my body post-surgery, didnt cross my mind, so I think there are issues you need to address with your psych. For what it is worth, my body shape started to sort itself out in week 7 and my waist has finally come back into proportion with the rest of me. But that may change a few more times before I reach my goal and I am going to go with it.... Give it time, but don't leave the site and cut yourself off from people to talk to.
  12. Poor you - but you've just written the blueprint for what happened to many of us in the first few days. You are not alone! I sobbed for almost a whole day three days post-op, thinking I had ruined my life, but that passed. I couldn't lie down for 10 days but that passed too. My stomach growled and spasmed but I eventually got the hang of knowing when it needed food and when it was digesting. The first week is the worst, the first month is hard for a lot of people. Yes, there are lots of folk who are bouncing around after a few days - but I wasn't, lol. So hang in there, this too will pass! I am 8 weeks out and haven't been healthier or happier in years :-))))
  13. Speak to your doc sooner rather than later. Dizziness on rising could be low blood pressure and dizziness/ headache could be dehydration. But we ain't docs so get professional advice just to be safe :-)
  14. My latest nsv happened a couple of days ago flying from New Orleans to Atlanta before flying home to the UK - and fitting in the seat to the extent that my arms were inside the armrests! I wasn't anywhere near the man next to me. Whoo hoo! And, despite the heat in NO, it was my first holiday where I wasn't a greasy blob for the duration. Another whoo hoo!
  15. So pleased for you! It's this kind of thing that makes all the hard work worthwhile. Well done, hope you have more moments like this :-)
  16. Factor in age too. I admire those who head back to work after a week or so, but at 51 I couldn't have done that. So I took all the holidays I could - four weeks - and felt really well by the end of that. By that stage I was eating soft food too, so felt I was into a routine with my eating that I was comfortable with.
  17. You need to get your Water intake up. My nurse said that it helps with weight loss. You are doing well, don't get too despondent, the weight will start to come off :-))))
  18. But you aren't saying goodbye to all food forever. Sure, there's a period of liquid, purees, mushies etc but the plan is that you do go back to solid food after that. Hopefully by then, after all the effort you've put in, the weight you've lost and how well you feel, you will make better choices... If you say "never" to things, they immediately become tempting. So just say "see you later" to food for now... I was an overeater and food was at the centre of everything I did. Not now. 7 weeks out, I feel food is now part of my life but it's not in charge. Can't explain why I am not craving my old foods, maybe because I feel well, my health is great and I look better every day :-)))) but I don't want to jeopardize any of that. Good luck with pre op, surgery and post op. Hope you post to let us know how you are once you are sleeved!
  19. Think of it as 26lbs you won't ever need to lose again :-)))))
  20. Why is this person getting attention when she did it to herself? As a warning to us that what you think couldn't be possible is? Because she was a human being who, irrespective of what others might think, didn't deserve to die like this? Every one of us who has wls deserves respect and not to be judged. Some in the thin community have the same attitude - u did this to urself, so you don't deserve sympathy. Let's not do that to each other.
  21. It's not necessarily going to be easy - but it will be worth it to tbe healthier and happier! Good luck in 53 hours time :-))))
  22. Akarigger, hope your surgery went well, let us know how you are doing.
  23. Kcolli28, I hope you continue to keep well and that u stay off meds for as long as possible :-)
  24. My first week was a roller coaster ride.Unexpectly, had a bad reaction to the anaesthetic first day, which kept me in bed, but once that passed, things got better. Didnt need too much pain meds or nausea meds. Once I got home, had to sleep pretty much upright for the first week, was a bit slow on my feet and I was tired. My speciality was falling asleep at any time, which I didn't do before or since. Day 3 I cried (your hormones can be as shocked as your body after most of your stomach is removed), wondered what the hell i had done to myself. Day 4 I was delighted that I had had the surgery.... Day 4, managed to get a good percentage of my liquids in. Day 5, put my face on and felt a lot more like me. For me, week 1 was the hardest because it was a shock. No matter how much research you do and how much you hear from others, I am not sure that you can fully comprehend how different life will be. I. Week 1 made me realise just how little I needed to be satisfied in terms of food - and that's when I fully understood the extent of the change to my life. Would I go through week 1 again - would hate to, but I would if it got me to where I am now, 7 weeks out and healthier and happier than I have been in years. Best of luck to you if/when you have the surgery. Remember, no matter what week 1 feels like, this too will pass...
  25. Made it to the Gumbo Shop as suggested - fantastic! Had chicken, mash and corn that was so tasty I was tempted to eat too much - but I didn't :-) Have also walked a fair bit despite the heat and haven't felt tired out. So a great trip to NO, the people have been great, have enjoyed the food and loved the music. Off home to Scotland on Sunday but I will be back and by then I hope to be able to eat more of the food, even a bite or two of a beignet :-)))) Thanks for all the tips and advice.
