  1. thanks i hadnt thought about the protein bars (i will stop those) also yeah my cold is very heavy so that could be it too. and i managed 9 cups of water yesterday so hanging in there! i will also check my carbs again (i am tracking on my fitness pal so its fairly easy to see what im doing too much of.)

    thanks again!

  2. i agree, this forum is about support, and we are all like-minded individuals who have all had problems in our lives which have led us to seek surgery, we dont just wake up and think "you know what today im going to get 3/4 of my stomach removed!!" what a totally ignorant comment by mokee.. i expect comments like this on facebook not on a forum which is designed to help and support each other.

I am on another website which is to support partners who have been sexually abused as children (my husband was by his mum) and I often go off at a tangent on that site, but everyone knows you dont just have to discuss the abuse you can talk about anything, and I do!!! so reenalee keep posting we are listening and those that have no comprehension of that should not click on your blog!!

  3. hi I am 5 weeks out first week was a killer!! I smelt food and my mouth watered, my advice drink drink drink, get a good PPI (im on nexium) and essential good shakes! I did unjury & premier (very satisfying) Now im onto solids, I am really struggling to get in 500cals per day. I am topping up with 1 shake or a smoothy (with a scoop of protein in) once you go on to solids you will feel the restriction BIG TIME!!!

I am 24lbs down and now loving my sleeve, hang in there it gets better, also the gherelin is still in your system.

    best of luck rachel.

  4. Oh my word amazing words!! And so true. I stopped telling people after some huge negativity!! I was weak.. Cheating.. all I need is willpower!! And a good gym! Ha if only my eating habits were that easily controlled!! I was looking into amphetamine based appetite suppressants (with the risk of all the major side effects) and I was like "Rachel what are you doing?!!""

I encountered one person yesterday ( I told my 3 closest friends here) I felt I had to as we eat out so much and knew they would be suspicious. 2 of my friends said how brave I was.. Very encouraging. The other one said not one single word & tried to change the subject!! I am still shocked & upset by this.

We sleevers are brave and committed to giving up something we had a relationship with all our lives! We have made a decision to break an unhealthy habit which would eventually give us heart disease... Diabetes.. High blood pressure etc! How can this be the easy way out?!! It's not. I was also a daily consumer of alcohol (2 glasses every night!!) I am not missing this & I have never gone 4 weeks without! So I agree whole heartily that we are very very brave & it's not the cheats way out!!

  5. I really relate to your story, I had the sweet tooth.. I could eat chocolate and ice cream forever!! not now , im 3 weeks post op and I am just introducing pureed, i am missing biting and chewing but once i have something to "eat" or drink that goes off. you will not regret this!! I went to Mexico for surgery and self paid and I had no problems with pain, some nausea but nothing else. Make sure you have chocolate shakes in ready!! it works. best of luck!

  6. hi i have heard the same story numerous times about the band, one of my close friends has had 2 surgerys to correct the slipping of the band, so it seems this is a common problem. I had my sleeve 3 weeks ago, i am still on the shakes and liquids (just introducing pureed) I am getting a little more in each day of pureed the first day i ate 2 tsp!! now i am managing 2 tblsp! so far im loving this feeling of being satisfied on a small amount I am almost 20lbs down too which i am thrilled about! so I wish you all the luck for June but I know you will not regret switching from the band to the sleeve. best of luck rachel.

  7. i had a total food funeral for about 3 weeks before my surgery, steaks, chocolate+++ everything, and whilst I am not advocating this for you, I am so glad I did! i did gain 6lbs during that time but i made sure the week before surgery i reduced reduced and the reduced some more.. three days prior i did clear liquids only (just about killed me!!) this needs to happen though to shrink your liver, otherwize surgery can be postponed. I suppose it depends if you have been given a target before hand to lose some weight, i know lots of people have to show their determination by losing 10% but i think thats the insurance companies requirements? also my BMI was not really high (33.3) so yes you are right to have the feelings that you want to say goodbye to those foods for a few months!! if you do just cut it back the week before and if your insurance company need you to lose a bunch of weight don't do it!! as you will gain!

    rachel.

  8. hi jillian, i'm sorry to hear what a bad time youve had personally, but there is light at the end of the tunnel, you are going for this amazing surgery and it will give you much more self confidence. I am only 3 weeks out, but already feeling more attractive and better about myself. I am also a woman who has delt with infidelity and I know how bad that is on your self esteem. But remember they become x's for a reason!! I am now happily married and have been for 5 years (he was also cheated on) life gets better and with the new you around the corner there will be no stopping you healing that heart!!

    best of luck rachel.
