difficulty with pureed

hi everyone!! new to this particular site, but have had lots of great tips from searching different subjects so decided to join. I had my surgery 3 weeks ago, I am now coming to the end of my liquid only diet. I have really struggled to get all my water and protein shakes in. I am probably averaging 50fl oz of H20 and maybe 50g protein through my shakes. I am suppossed to start pureed I tried last night (some chicken salad wizzed up) but managed 2 tiny mouthfuls and felt nauseous, did this happen to anyone else? I am thinking I carry on for one more week with the liquids? this week i have stalled (but I hear the three week mark is legendary!!) any advice would be really helpful in trying to acomplish the h20 and protein requirements. I am stopping at the point when i have the pressure feeling in between rib cage and the gurgly sounds in my throat/lower oesophagus.

it takes times to move to each stage. the first day on pureed was a challenge....I could handle maybe 2-3 teaspoons. Also, it's the only day that I actually lost my lunch, per se. I eased into this stage using liquids and pureed. It's much better now.

I cheated today. Puréed is still a week away. But I wanted to feel texture in my mouth. Scrambled eggs are on my puréed list. I mixed an egg with a little of my double milk, whipped it, then scrambled it, until it was fully cooked, but not dry.

I ate tiny bites... Mincing it up good. Within 30 minutes, I ate 1/2 of that egg! Yeah, it felt funky going down, but I swallowed a tiny sip of water with each bite, and it seemed to work. AND, I satisfied my urge to chew something.

And, since it was only 1/2 of an egg, I don't feel ashamed. :)

The scrambled egg seemed to go down best for me at first with the pureeds. My dietician actually let me go on pureeds a week early, so I only did full liquids for a week and 2 days and everything went pretty well besides oatmeal at first. I really needed more milk in there. Sorry to hear about the difficult times..but I am also having a hard time getting in all the water. 50 oz is a pretty good day for me.
