Vixynne got a reaction from wholenewjessica in swimsuits that cover loose skin?
Your post reminded me of an article I read online about the actress, Mayim Bialik (she played the lead role on "Blossom" in the 90's and is now Amy Farrah-Fowler on "Big Bang Theory"). Mayim wrote a blog about wanting to wear modest swimwear to honor her Jewish beliefs, and she included a website link to a page called Hydrochic. Their stuff looks awfully cute to me, and would probably cover most loose skin issues.
Here's the link if you're interested:

Vixynne got a reaction from work2Bskinny in kicked off of a fair ride....
My kids and I go to Water Country in New Hampshire every year. Each year, I'm probably at least 15-20 pounds heavier than the year before. I've always tried not to be too self-conscious about how I look while waddling around in a skirted bathing suit (and probably blinding people with my fishbelly-white skin, LOL) but last year took the prize. At one of the water slides, after climbing three or four stories up a winding staircase, lugging my inner tube, it was finally my turn to plop the tube down, sit in it and go.
The pre-slide pool area is about calf-deep, and you have to keep one foot on the ground to keep from floating down the chute before the ride attendant gives you the "go" signal. I waited patiently, got the signal and lifted my foot. Everyone else who did this maneuver went gliding off down the chute...not me! I picked up my foot, and my butt went straight to the bottom of the waiting-area pool. I was anchored. Run aground worse than the Titanic. No amount of wriggling or jiggling could get me to float forward. The more I shimmied, the more wedged into the tube my tuchus became.
My mortification was completed when the attendant rolled his teenaged eyeballs, strode across the pool and grabbed the handle of my tube. With a loud grunt, he yanked me to the chute and shoved the tube so that I could stop holding up the line.
I'd like to be able to sit in a water-park tube without feeling like that, ever again. Maybe not this summer, since I'll be sleeved in July--but DEFINITELY next year!

Hiya Serendipity--just wanted to say, based on your ticker, you're not a slow loser at all! At 107 days out from surgery, with 104 lbs. lost?! That's just about a pound per day! That's fantastic!!

Vixynne got a reaction from NewLife'sGr8 in How do you feel about eating out after weight loss surgery?
I agree completely with this! I wasn't sure which vote to mark, since I have no problems eating out at restaurants. I'm nearly 9 months post-sleeve, and going out to eat isn't difficult for me, because I can always find something to eat that is higher in Protein, not deep-fried, etc.
Restaurant eating--for me--just means that if I order a regular entree, there will be leftovers to take home. Ordering my meal doesn't cause me or my companions any stress. I eat what I can, enjoy the company and my food, and finally feel like a "normal" eater rather than a binge gobbler.

...Just jumping in to mention that if anyone's sex life is lacking for other reasons, weight loss may or may not improve the sitch. I have more issues around sex than Playboy Magazine, and although I'm very hopeful that a better body image will help, I know that there are some glitches in the way my brain views sex that run deeper than my jiggle, and will need another approach to improve 'em.

One year has come and gone--it's hard to believe that all the changes this surgery has brought to my life are only just NOW 12 months old! It's amazing.
As of July 1st, I'm only 1 pound from my first targeted goal of 135 lbs. My next step is to decide if I'd like to push for 130 or maybe even 125--but right now, this second, I am completely happy and content with how far I've come. I could stop here and claim a huge victory. Size six?? SIZE SIX? Not 26? Holy cow, I never really believed that would happen--but yesterday I tried on my first size FOUR shorts and they fit. It's like hitting the lottery.
Apart from the ability to wear clothing I like--and like how it looks--I feel so much healthier. Almost every one of my aches and pains, that I used to chalk up to aging, are gone. I easily feel about 20 years younger. If not for this procedure, I'd still be miserable and trapped inside a body that was slowly becoming a prison, and would have probably shortened my life by at least a deade.
How's everyone else in the July 2013 group doing? Hope it's been a wonderful year for you, despite the ups and downs, struggles and challenges along the way...

What finally made me commit to the surgery was a bit different than most peoples I think. I was playing tennis with Ivan Lendl (former #1 tennis player in the world... google him) in an exibition match in Nashville, TN. After we hit for a while, we were getting a drink of Water and he simply said, "You are a good player, you could be a great player if you werent fat." He wasn't trying to hurt my feelings or be a jerk. In his own way he was complimenting me, however, I don't know why that statment from him pushed me over the edge - I had type 2 diabetes, high BP, high colesterol, etc.- but those didn't measure up to the pissed off motivation Lendl gave me in his frank, honest statment.

Hello everyone. So a lot has happened since I made this thread. My boyfriend and I are on wonderful terms and he understands why I need the surgery. We had a heart-to-heart a few nights ago and we're finally on the same page. He understands he overreacted but he was scared. Scared of losing me while under the knife or losing me after I lost the weight. Either way, I let him know that I'll always be here for him and I wouldn't leave him if I lost a significant amount of weight. He also feared I'd leave him if he gained weight while I lost it. I wouldn't throw away a year and a half of us being together for something silly like that. Thank you all for the support you've shown me. By the way, my surgery date is August 12, 2014

Amazing job to everyone posting. Some lose less some more and all on different schedules. I keep reminding myself that this is a marathon, not a race. I have not posted any pictures, but I wanted to for my 1 year anniversary. I feel amazing, my children are so proud of me. This has been the single best thing I have done for myself and am so grateful to have had the ability and availability to such a life changing procedure. Oh and as a special treat, I turned 40 in May and have never felt better.

I was sleeved July 1, 2013 by Doctor Rayford Kruger at Tobey Hospital in Massachusetts. Here's my official before/after pic, with my stats for both the day of my surgery, and my one year surgiversary. It's mindblowing to me that not only am I NEVER again going to shop in the Plus Size section of any store, but I will willingly step in front of a camera, while wearing a bathing suit. Who is this person?!
I have absolutely NO regrets and consider this surgery to have been a total success. For the first time in decades, I'm proud of the way I look and how hard I fought to achieve it, with my sleeve's help. Happy Independence Day, indeed!!

I had thought I was done and this last week I have dropped another 7 pounds. I have got to get in a few more calories I guess to try and maintain what I have. I still have my TT to get through and they like you to be stable for a few months first.
Glad to see all the success that has been going on. Also to those struggling. Never give up, you have come this far. Seek assistance.

    Hey Everyone!

Congratulations! We did it! BariatricPal now has 3.5 million posts!

    How much is 3.5 million?
If you skipped 1 calorie every time someone made a post, you would lose 1,000 pounds.
If you posted once per second, it would take you 40 days to hit 3.5 million posts.
If you took one step for each of 3,500,000 posts, you would walk 700 miles.
Okay, these are cute statistics, but hitting the 3.5-million mark truly is meaningful. It shows how much of a pillar we are for the weight loss surgery community, and it also shows how loyal and wonderful our members are.

    We Have a Winner!

A couple of weeks ago, to thank you for your participation on BariatricPal, we announced that the member who made post number 3.5 million would get a prize. Congratulations to our winner, @LindafromFlorida ! You will receive a copy of “The Big Book on Bariatric Surgery: Living Your Best Life After Weight Loss Surgery”. Thanks for being a member of BariatricPal, and enjoy your book!

Don't worry if you weren't our lucky 3.5 millionth poster and book winner. The book is currently available as a hard copy or eBook exclusively via Amazon. In 90 days it will be also be available to everyone as a hard copy and as an eReader on BariatricPal and other major book sellers.

    Thanks to All BariatricPal Members...

We only gave out one prize, but we realize that we could not have accomplished this mark without you. Thank you for your contributions throughout the years as BariatricPal has grown from its humble beginnings in 2003. BariatricPal members keep the forums popular and dependable.

Here’s to Another 3.5 Million Posts!

Now that we have hit the 3.5 million landmark, what does the future hold? Another 3.5 million, we expect! Keep dropping by for advice and conversation, and you will help us maintain our ranking as the most visited online weight loss surgery community in the world!

A sincere thank-you from the bottom of my heart.

A purposeful deviation from you were anticipating, with out without complications, is something that can be taken up with the doctors malpractice insurance.
A doctor altering your procedure to unwittingly put you in a study program is unethical, I am willing to guess, not in the bounds of the laws of your state, which makes ANY contract or agreement void.Encourage her to check with a lawyer - and ask for compensation directly relative to anything he or his hospital is getting in regards to the study. In my opinion if he is getting a paper or article publishes - accolades, basically - she should be compensated for a part of her surgery, since he profited.

Hi, Jade---I'm just over the 1 year mark from being sleeved. All my stats are below in my signature, but I have lost over 90% of my excess body weight in a year. I think, like almost EVERYTHING to do with this surgery, from what our surgeons have us do with preop diets, NSAID advice, post op food schedules, etc., etc., etc, your mileage may vary. We're all different. If you really work hard at following your doctor's guidelines, eat accordingly, become more active, can you still only lose 40% of your excess weight? Probably. But are your numbers most likely going to end up being a lot higher than that if you DO follow the guidelines and move more? Yes.
My doctor said (those must be the three most often used words in the forums, don't you think?) that there's no reason weight loss HAS to stop at a year out, or at 18 months out. If I'm willing to really push myself, I could lose as much as I want to lose. Easier said than done, yes. But doable! Other factors can affect it--like thyroid issues, just for one example. If you give this everything you've got and reach out to your medical team if you aren't progressing like you want to, then there's going to be NO stopping you until that goal is under your (much smaller) belt.

    *UPDATE*
She did it!! OMG! you wouldn't believe what a mess I have been!
She was told to be at the hospital @ 11;15 yesterday morning, they finally took her back to prep around 1pm.. I hadn't heard anything by 3 so started texting my youngest son for any news, he hadn't heard anything, so here I am in Michigan, my only daughter in NY and NO-ONE can tell me anything!! I was a mess!
Finally got a call around 6:30pm that she was out of surgery and in recovery *whew* (had a hernia repair also)
Recieved a call from her this morning, she was in recovery until around 1am, she was feeling like she might vomit, so they kept an eye on her until the feeling passed. She has been up and walking.and sounds good. She's sore, but feeling good.
What a strong woman my daughter is! Love her with all that I have! Now I can breathe better knowing she is ok.
Her leak test is today, and will probably be discharged tomorrow.
    Thanks for "listening"
