Torani SF syrups, Laughing cow babybel cheese and the soft cheeses (50 cal and 35 cal, respectively), Sargento reduced fat cheddar cheese sticks, 100-calorie packs of almonds, Sabra individual hummus packs (though I prefer fresh hummus, they are good in a pinch), Morningstar vegetarian "sausage" patties (80 cal, 10 g Protein, low carb), low-fat ricotta cheese, fat-free plain Greek yogurt, PB2 or JustGreatStuff powdered Peanut Butter, almond milk, lite soy milk, Morningstar veggie "meat"balls, spaghetti squash (lots of Fiber and filling), watermelon (seems to make me lose more weight and keeps kidney stones at bay due to citrates), strawberries (dipped in FF Greek Yogurt mixed with SF black cherry torani), homemade iced coffee, Designer whey and Unjury protein powders, Pure Protein Protein Bars (only eat 1 about every 2 weeks), Weight Watchers Greek yogurt bars (80 calories, 5 grams protein, 13 carbs--once a week treat but better than commercial fro yo or ice cream plus good protein boost for low-cal treat), SmartWater (electrolytes!), Rancho Gordo dried beans--make the Beans from scratch and they are so much better than canned, homemade salsa from the local Mexican joint--put it on everything for extra flavor, sprouted tofu--more protein, Morningstar crumbles for homemade veggie chili, red pepper strips, mini cucumbers, romaine lettuce, Penzey's herbs and spices, fresh cilantro, Granny Smith apples (occasional treat for fiber boost), quinoa (protein boost).....

Man I hate to say it but I've been wrestling with this same dilemna for the last few weeks. I have really come to love long distance running but it wastes alot of muscle. The more I run the worse my strength to weight ratio is getting. I've got another half marathon coming up in 2 weeks and after that I'm gonna cool it for a while on long runs. Just in the last couple of months I've increased my weight lifting and HIIT runs, while decreasing the mid level mileage runs as they seem to be redundant. They are a good calorie burn but not much more.
For now I'm doing Starting Strength again. Did it before and it's a great way to increase strength and power. I'm going to keep running but it's going to be more HIIT running and hill repeats, with maybe a twice monthly long run and that's it. No more junk mileage. I think I may have already told you but I discovered the local high school keeps a big tractor tire sitting outside for training. I've been going up there once or twice a week and flipping the tire strongman style as many times as I can. I flipped it 103 times today in just under 20 minutes, and I can safely say that is the most intense workout I've had in quite sometime. I looked up the tire online and it is a 280 pound tire. That really makes me wanna go out and find a heavier one to bring home, one that I can't flip 100 times. But still, incredible workout. I now know what my aorta tastes like.

I am scheduled to be sleeved June 20th..excitement mixed with nerves..at 6'4 and 400 lbs I'm more then ready to change my life.the only thing I am most worried about is getting through the 5 days of the liquid diet.i love sugar free Jello but not sure i can exist on that and sugar free pops and broth...I am certainly going to try my best..I am self paying in Mexico.my friend went to the same clinic I am going to and he says it's the best thing that he has ever done..he's down almost 80 lbs since jan.this app has been very helpful..I'm really glad there is a space just for men too...we really do lose weight and deal with pain far differently then women do I believe.if anyone has any suggestions on getting through the liquid only few days it would be helpful.i can't wait to start the second part of my life.

My doctor never mentioned trying to lose a specific amount of weight. From my understanding, it is more of just a liver shrinking thing.

i am always surprised when a thread posted someone off that isn't meant to offend....i appreciate honesty and openness.....are we supposed to just write about the good stuff? for the original post....be careful..... i think everything in moderation. hopefully the sleeve can give you the strength to indulge once in a while and not too much.

I'm a little concerned. I know everyone is saying this is a lifestyle and we should treat ourselves but the OP ate an entire 580 calories burger. She didn't have some of it, or a few bites of it, or any of the other things people are saying they do. She had the entire burger. At 580 calories. 3 months after surgery. Does no one see a potential problem, other than the one poster who was called names and ridiculed (even though she didn't call anyone names but I guess it's ok as long as everyone agrees)?
A lot of us have a unhealthy relationship with food and that's what got us in this mess in the first place. I keep reading over and over again that this surgery is a tool and we have to do the work or we're going to put the weight back on. People on this post keep saying it's a lifestyle, yada yada, but that's what I always read on the regular diet boards and none of us ever lost any significant weight or maintained the weight we did lose. I know a smaller stomach helps with the weight loss but the long-term posters are talking about having 3 or 4 bites, not an entire burger.
If I'm eating an entire burger 3 months out, what am I eating a year out? That would be my concern.

Thanks for being my phsychologist!! Far from forgotten but I don't believe anyone should get a "high five", for eating junk food, this food will NOT help us to maintain our weight loss. This is not my first kick at the can and for me the smell and look of fast food is revolting!! Do a little research first into the calorie/fat/sodium content in these foods and I am sure you will think twice about eating it. It is much healthier to cook/make your own burger than any fast food. Isn't fast food what got us to this point in the first place? Reverting to old habits? Just a slippery slope to ride on and then we will be hearing, "Why am I not losing weight"?
