  1. Miralax is my best friend on this pre-op diet.....good luck!
  2. I'm a day behind you, it's crossed my mind....what if I get sick in the next 11 days (or after surgery, even worse!)
  3. I liked their sample pack....strawberry mixed with crystal light lemonade, unflavored to mix with SF drinks, chocolate, and the chicken flavor for something different......I'm not a big vanilla fan, but it was good, too. If you want it cold, mix it first with room temperature Water, and put it in the fridge over night or for a few hours......unjury powder clumps if the water is too hot and it's not as easy to mix if the water is ice cold..... I'm not allowed any unjury the first week after surgery......but the 2nd week and beyond it's fine....haven't ordered a whole tub of anything yet.....I'm pretty happy with the RTD premier Protein drinks (and have a big bunch from costco)
  4. Congratulations!
  5. Good luck to you both.....wishing you a quick recovery.
  6. Today is better than yesterday....I was desperate for real food last night--but didn't go there. I didn't get to the Y last night, so I popped in my Zumba DVD today....haven't done it in a few years....don't ever remember it being this hard. Hope everyone is having a good day!
  7. I'm wondering if my kitchen aid stick blender would work---used to puree my son's baby food with something like it....I'll experiment this week with whatever I cook for hubby and see what kind of consistency it can produce. Thanks for your post....not sure I can justify buying the vitamix.
  8. Right on the home page of this website there is a book advertised "the big book of VSG".....something like that.....it's also available at amazon and as a download.....it's quite good.
  9. Congratulations! Wishing you a quick/easy recovery!
  10. PGee posted a blog entry in Patty's WLS Blog
It was all fun and games until around 5:30, when that evil doer, Head Hunger, came around...I was stressing a bit, and I wanted food! The urge to eat was a little overwhelming.....I was so desperate, I think I would have gone for a piece of cardboard with a little salt Instead, I had some water, kept busy, then had my shake at 7 p.m.....poor hubby, his dinner was an afterthought tonight.... I received a letter from the insurance company today stating they'd approved a hospital stay of 1 day...all conversations with the dr's said 2 days...so I called the ins. co. and yes, as it stands, I will be going home the day after surgery....a scary thought to be released a day after having [what I think is] major surgery.....hubby is wonderful, but nurturing just doesn't come easily to him....he's still in training LOL [and that's okay, housework doesn't come naturally to me] They did say if another day is needed, a 2nd authorization could be requested......the letter was dated 7/22 and says the next review will be 7/24 (as in yesterday)... ...I sent my dr's office a quick email and left it at that. I can't control it and nothing I can do about it..... That's all for today. Good night!
  11. NurseBarbie, what were you using before the vitamix blender? I have a couple food processors (really old, from the 80's) and just an everyday blender.......figured they'd be fine for the puree stage.....now I'm wondering.....Thanks!
  12. Here's some tough love.....and sometimes we need to hear this.....still have 12 days of my pre-op, but want to make sure I can find this again 2 months down the road......soda = battery acid -- I like that! Thanks Doug for this post. Source: Three Years Later - What I've Learned
  13. Okay, thanks! FOAMIES!!!! I couldn't remember the name, thank you!
  14. Woo Hoo! Congratulations! So exciting!
  15. If it's more than 5 times a day you may want to call your doctor......sadly, I'm having the opposite problem.
  16. I'm wondering if things are different strictly because of our doctors or if they take into consideration our size....Looks like I'm taking in about 750 calories and 103g Protein....and after 2 days, the scales went down a tad....although I have to say I was hungry around 8:00 last night. Vinnie, I love your comment "I'm going to own it and be a better me" I haven't really had any struggles.....but I'm wondering if it will come next week when it's not so new and I start to panic about the surgery......so for now I'm taking one day at a time.
  17. Good morning! Soooooooooooo how did day 2 of your pre-op diet go? I'm finding I have a lot of energy.....not sure if it's the no carbs or just excited this is happening soon. I've always struggled with grazing (emotional eating, I'm sure).....but I am so focused on following the pre-op plan, that I haven't deviated from it [thank goodness for small miracles ] I mentioned gas was a problem.....well, I found my new best friend...GasX.....what a difference.....thought I'd share in case anyone else is in the same boat. Hope everyone is doing well!
  18. I've started going through that massive pile of clothing......So far there is a garbage bag going to the curb this morning, something for goodwill.....and I've found clothing that fits and clothing that's too big.....that's always a good thing! The coolest thing--I ran into a favorite maxi dress---and it fits.....have decided it's going with me to wear after surgery in the hospital.....Hey, why not look stylish while walking the halls, right? Plus nothing around the waist, and the material has a lot of stretch. I'm on the pre-op diet, and keeping busy.....I painted my nails....all 20 of them! I can't tell you the last time I had my toes painted....over 20 years ago, I'm sure. Day two went well. We went bowling last night, and there was a snack bar.....I ate my "yogurt-protein powder pudding" in the car, tossed in a water bottle with crystal light......and refilled it with water all night long....the pre-op diet now a mindset....it's my personal challenge. People could eat around me last night...I could care less......and trust me, the smells from the snack bar all night were quite delicious smelling....BUT.... Getting on the scale this morning and seeing it go down is much, much better. Gotta Run.....for my pre-op fellow sleevers, keep busy and be good to yourself....stay on your plan.....you got this! Have a great day!
  19. Leslie, when you are ready to make a commitment (either way) you'll do it.....honestly it probably took me 7 years to get here.....I was a wreck the first 2 months after I went to that informational session, with the same concerns. Read everything you can about the surgery....and ask your surgeon about your fears and any questions you have.....if you haven't met with a surgeon yet, take that first step and go to an informational workshop--not everyone walks out saying they want surgery.....go to a WLS support group...the ones by me welcome people considering surgery, people who are preop, and post op......and most of all, good luck, and best wishes on your decision.
  20. That's wonderful new....we should all be so lucky!
  21. Thanks....what is T3?
  22. CONGRATS!!!!! wow, that's coming up soon !
  23. Rant away....Isn't it the truth what we've subjected our bodies to already...family/coworkers? bless their hearts, but they haven't walked a mile in your shoes.......surround yourself with positive people, even if it's on VST. I haven't told people, and at times I feel like the omission is lying, then I hear the comments one sister say to another, and I know it's the right decision for me. I think the pre-op is a mindset....Today is day 2 of the official pre-op diet, and it's going good...I write down everything I've had, the time I ate it, and record the liquids......for 2 weeks, it's doable....at least that's what I tell myself LOL
