  1. Best wishes to you both! Now, stay busy, it'll make the time go by faster
  2. I'm partial to the ready to drink Premier Protein drinks (160 cal, 30g, fat, low carb)....BUT I think their sodium is a little high. Dr's gave me Bariatric Advantage, chocolate.....mixed that with almond milk, unsweetened, vanilla flavor, and it was tolerable LOL I liked
  3. There are a bunch of us....whoot whoot! I started today......3 BA shakes & 2 cups plain yogurt......kinda jealous of all you who get a meal LOL I didn't do anything differently food wise.....sad but true.... I picked up the filled syringes for the self administered blood thinner (for post op) and that freaked me out a little....not enough to lose sleep, that's for sure....it's just one of those things that has to be done. I'm looking forward to being a normal/healthy size....
  4. I've tried the vanilla unsweetened blue diamond almond milk, and like that a lot.....love that it has only 30 calories (another find via the VST board).
  5. Questions......it was a 3 page questionnaire, and basically anyone whose done their research should know.....like VSG is permanent.......honestly, that was one of the questions.......they want to make sure the patient has a clear understanding of what is going to happen pre-op, immediately after and long term as well as the 5 stages of post-op diet.....not to mention complications.....
  6. When I first saw the term "nut" on the message board, I thought it was rude.....but my NUT said to call her a nut, and she was very funny about it.
  7. Maggie, it will be 3 shakes and 2C of yogurt (which is an improvement from what the NUT said LOL) and all the clear SF liquids I can handle....
  8. Today was the pre-op with the surgeon, tomorrow the fun pre-op diet begins.....14 day count down...I have to make an appointment at the hospital tomorrow for pre-op testing. They gave me a prescription to fill for a blood thinner that I have to administer myself via a needle post op. Ummm, I hate needles....if they are given to someone else, I don't have a problem LOL So, this should be interesting. after looking at the syringes in the box, I just stared at them feeling a bit dumbfounded.....and started to shake.....seriously, this just got real. Holy Cwap! (substitute the W with an R if you like) LOL For a brief moment I got the "what the heck am I doing" feeling......but it was a fleeting thought....all the benefits of having WLS came rushing back, thank goodness! I'm definitely anxious, no doubt about it.....nervous energy.....and yes, I already have a few things packed for the hospital LOL Good night!
  9. So, my NUT has stressed preop diet consists of 5 shakes, 1 Protein bar, and Clear liquids for 12 days, then 2 days clear liquids. I was not ready for what the doctor had to say today.....3 shakes a day, 2 cups of plain yogurt (100 calorie limit per cup), and clear liquids for 12 days....then2 days of clear liquids I'm going with the doctor's version.....but has anyone had such a discrepancy between Dr & NUT? They work together, she was the NUT they wanted me to see.....funny/odd though how they differ.....
  10. Thanks! Well, the surgery is still on, so I guess I didn't do too badly.....but there was one question I just didn't know what they were fishing for......I had lots of answers, but just not sure the specific 3 answers they were looking for (oh, wait a minute, maybe that means it had math, and that's why I stumped me LOL) Now I've got more homework, and a guide I need to read....think they should have handed that out at the beginning of the process LOL
  11. So I am @ the drs....and they gave me a written test......I don't test well.....LOL wish me luck
  12. Oh sweetie, you're not alone...we are here!!! (and thank goodness VST was here for me, too!) I can't say I'm doing it all alone as my husband is my cheerleader and rock.....and one sister is aware of my plans and supportive as she's had an RNY years ago......otherwise, I am keeping it quiet---not discussing it with parents other siblings, nor co workers/friends. Please be sure to get a copy of your insurance policy in writing or in a PDF.....you can call for it....do not leave that up to the doctors, that's your responsibility. Sounds like our plans are similar, though. With regards to the BMI, some insurance companies state a 35 BMI with co morbidities OR a BMI of 40 or above w/o comorbidities....each doctor, nutritionist/dietitian, and insurance companies follow their own set of rules. Good luck....we're here for ya!
  13. Umm, that's "click" on her picture....not check LOL
  14. If you check on Lynda's picture, it will bring you to her profile.....once there, there is a little menu on the left....click on "gallery".....and that should pull up her pictures. PS Welcome!
  15. Thanks for doing that list......a lot of us on 8/6, wow! I started the pre-op liquid diet on Saturday...it's not bad so far.....HOWEVER, this is self imposed rather than mandatory, so maybe because I know I can eat if I want to, that I don't mind it.....come tomorrow when it officially begins, I may not be such a happy camper LOL Have a great day everyone!!!!!
  16. Are you really on a clear liquid diet for 2 weeks? Yikes! I'll be on a liquid diet, but doing the clear liquid diet only 2 days b/4 surgery.....do you have a flavor of Isopure that you like better than others? I was never a gatorade girl...... good luck everyone, here we go!
  17. Good luck....love the pix....my 2 week liq. diet starts on Tuesday....it's been so many years since I was small, it'll take some work to find any skinny pictures of me LOL
  18. Thanks for that! I have metal ones, no see through.....and they are used to me bringing those as well...you are so clever! Thanks again!
  19. Before altering, you may want to consider the consignment shops or goodwill.....I see new, brand name clothing in there with the tags still on.....always surprised at the high end designer names, too. Good luck!
  20. Amy, glad you're doing so well! Mom2ris, I decided not to have a "last meal".....what did you end up having? Good luck!
  21. Too funny.....I'm 5'1.5", and my PCP always rounds it up to 5'2"..........but with these bad knees (can't straighten my legs all the way), now I truly am 5'1
  22. I'm right there with you! Good luck! It'll be here before you know it.
  23. Thanks, GB! For months I've been drinking the RTD protein drinks, hopeful that it wouldn't be unusual for people to see me doing it LOL
  24. On Tuesday I start my official pre-op liquid diet. BUT as I said, I am doing a trial run for 3 days beforehand.....and, the first day went fine. Always the planner, I figured out how many hours they should be spread over, and made a schedule as a guide The only thing I'm doing differently today is starting at an earlier hour.....I couldn't get all the shakes in yesterday because I didn't start until 8:30, which meant I had one every 2 hours......yikes! Who'd think you could get so full! So here I am at 6:30 a.m., sipping and typing LOL And, to get out of the heat yesterday we went bowling (how fun).....and yes, I even walked into the bowling lanes with a shake.....A few hours later, we drove by a DQ.......hubby looked like a little kid....."Hey, you want ice cream?" I told him to go ahead because it was time for another shake anyway.....Neither of us have had DQ in years.............and when he got back to the car, he offered a lick off his cone......Luckily I don't like vanilla soft serve LOL........BUT I had to give him a hard time....."Seriously, you are offering me ice cream? [yes] Honey, if this was Tuesday, would you offer me ice cream then? [no]" He had his held down as if in shame, but looking at me with a gleam in his eyes and that boyish charm of his..........I just hope he was testing me...
  25. I've been invited to a crop being held 11 days after my surgery......do you think that's too soon? or am I out of my mind? I'll be on full liquids at that point and can pack some strained Soup and Protein drinks and can pack light..... I'm thinking I should decline......but it sounds like fun! [you just have to say the word "fun", and I'm there LOL]
