Alcohol and Sleevers
I was told the occasional drink would be okay (how long after surgery, I don't know) At my psych eval, it was mentioned some WLS patients transfer their food addiction to alcohol, and some become alcoholics. Drinking wasn't a big part of my lifestyle before surgery (literally a few drinks per year).....so just like soda had to go post op, I decided alcohol will not be a part of my sleeved lifestyle either....good luck!

What am I doing wrong?
Mary, You're doing great! I was sleeved 8/6 and you've lost more than I have.....and our start weight isn't that far apart (mine was 225). My weight has been a stalemate more than 1/2 of the time post op....If you're weighing yourself daily, don't.....that can get you down.....try weighing once a week or every other week.....I'm sure you're seeing a difference in your clothing.. sometimes I compare myself to others, and think I'm doing poorly....but I have to remind myself it's not a race, and we all lose weight at our own pace....no two bodies are the same.....Good luck, don't be so tough on yourself.....good luck

Persistent but mild nausea @ 4 weeks?

Stomach gurgling?
It's not all the time.....I'm 5 weeks out, so I don't know how long it will last. It typically happens after eating/drinking......getting less and less, though.....sometimes it's loud and others not so much (I was on the phone and the person on the other end heard it gurgling----the noise sometimes comes right up through the throat....it's quite impressive, really LOL

is this normal
Thank you for this post.....I've been wondering the same thing and this morning as I struggled to get in an egg, started to asking myself if the surgery was worth it..... I've been struggling to get in 1-2 ounces of Protein.....forget about adding veggies/fruits....My NUT suggested crock pot stews, chili, and such......Tried chili, and that went down pretty well.......will try some a stew next week..... Thank you for posting this.....glad to know it's not just me.

Too much food making me angry
wow....but it looked yummie.......When I went out to breakfast, I ordered an egg off the "sides" menu.....never could eat all that in one setting, either.

August Sleevers?
Is anyone taking the Bariatric Fusion vitamins? these give me a bit of nausea for 10-15 minutes or so.....once I finish up the bottle, I'll be looking for a replacement.....shame, they make it easy....3 chewable tablets a day and they are complete, nothing else needed (I like simple LOL)

When will i love my sleeve? :-/
Love this---great suggestions! I don't know if this will help anyone, but I put everything in MyFitnessPal.com....and at the end of the day if I don't get all my Protein in, I grab a glass of milk, cheese stick, or a bottle of Premier Protein to make sure I have met the protein requirements.......80g....and I have a ton of energy....so if someone is lacking energy and not getting their protein in, you may want to work on that.......still tough to eat more than 1 or 2 ounces of solid food at a time..... I think it gets easier every day....I'm with the OP, though.....still would love to chug some Water at the gym......but it's coming along

not so sure now?
That's best discussed with your doctor....he/she should be able to make a suggestion as to the surgery that's most appropriate for you. As you probably know, we hear all sorts of horror stories with any WLS surgery....and this is not one of those.....but my sister has malabsorption issues from the bypass----not everyone does---so that's one of the deciding factors for me, plus my doctor was supportive of the sleeve. Her malabsorption means she has to go to the clinic (monthly I think) and get hooked up to an IV to get her deficiencies met.....and she is fine with it, it's doing what it needs to do....but, I didn't want to take that chance seeing our genetics are so close..... good luck with whatever you decide.

Ever miss eating?
That's so sweet...nice to have a supportive partner.....before the liquid diet, I froze some meals and told hubby he's on his own while I was on liquids

Ever miss eating?
The 3rd-4th week I was pretty unhappy....I wanted food......but the fifth week I was eating food......and a happy camper....but it is hard at the early stages, because it's just difficult to eat much as your stomach is still swollen and recovering..not being hungry is a nice change.....

How bad was it? Would you do it again?
I'm another one, no pain......some soreness....I took two doses of painkiller at night at the hospital, because they were strongly encouraged LOL I have not taken the pain meds they sent me home with. I was walking in the recovery room......still bleary eyed from the anesthesia, didn't care....had 2 nurses on either side as I wabbled around recovery a few times while waiting for a hospital room. I'm 4 weeks out, lost 20 pounds.....I have taken a single tylenol for a headache (I lived on alleve or advil pre-op for knees and headaches)......I can move around much better, have energy to burn. The one thing I am working on is nausea.....had a week where nausea was 27/7....I think we figured the Prilosec was the culprit......will have my 1 month post op tomorrow and see where we are going with it......they want me back on full liquids.....and I would still do it again in a heart beat....good luck.

Pain & Nausea 4 weeks out
Glad you have an answer.....how are you feeling? after not taking the prilosec today, the constant nausea is gone.....however, even on soft foods I'm still getting a bit nauseous....nothing like it was......one surgeon suggested I go on pureed foods for a while (they think my tummy isn't ready for real food)......my surgeon wants me to go back to full liquids......I thought the pureed suggestion was bad enough LOL This isn't something to mess around with, so I'll do what they say.

Eggs Protein Source *sigh* no more - Atlantic Cod Recipe suggestions?
Care to share your chicken salad recipe? They want me back on pureed foods for awhile......and for that one week of pureed, I kept it simple...and boring LOL [sorry I don't have a recipe to share].......have you gone to The World According to Egg Face? Here's her pureed suggestions (and no, they aren't all eggs LOL) http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2007/08/pureed-foods.html

Does your throat make noises after you drink?
Last week when I got to soft foods mine was doing that.....was on the phone with my sister, and she asked what was that noise LOL Couldn't believe she heard it over the phone...........this week it doesn't seem to do it.....go figure.

Liquids hurt, will it get better?
I can't add anything to what's been said already but wanted to pop in to reassure you it does get better.....early in the post op stage I found every day was different and things got a little bit better each day.....this has continued through all the stages......clear liquid, full liquids, pureed foods, soft foods, and now solid food......take your time, and know it will get better. Best wishes to all of our newly sleeved members!

August sleevers up dates. ..?
Surgery 8/6 and down 19 pounds since surgery. Other than the nausea for the last 7 days, doing fantastic (am in touch with the dr's about the nausea and have changed up some things....have my 1 month appointment on Monday) I couldn't believe the difference on Tues. when I resumed my exercise regimen at the gym....so much easier to do things, much more range of motion.....go figure LOL
