  1. I weight myself daily.....have done it for many years. I was away for 5 days, and the first thing I wanted to do when I get home was get on the scale.......sick, huh?...........I've had days and up to a week where it didn't budge, so I was anxious to see it move....but I don't let it get to me......my clothes fit, I'm down nearly 2 sizes....today I'm wearing a dress I've had for years but could never fit into it....Last week I couldn't fit into the next size down......now I can.....woohoo.......I'm exercising regularly, and loving it......thought that would never happen......so your dear son is right....we have other things to focus on. Your son has a beautiful mind and a wonderful mom! You done good!
  2. Looking Good Roffle! Can't believe such changes in 6 weeks....you look great! Keep rockin' that sleeve!
  3. Kayel8ch, you're a trooper......most of us have hit little bumps along the way, but sounds like you've had some hills to overcome.....seems like you are well on your way.....don't let the 6 month frustrate you too much.....it'll go by quicker than you think. As far as the weight loss and denying you, I don't know your insurance, but my approval was based on my initial weight with my surgeon and physician (physician had to write a letter of necessity with weight included--not sure what the surgeon wrote). Good luck!
  4. So, here it is, and I don't like the answer. I was instructed to stop taking prilosec for 3 days, and go back to pureed foods.........Noooooooooooooo!!!!! %^#x^%$%@#$%# and #%$#(*&*&&^%^ to that! The Prilosec can cause neasea and/or my tummy isn't ready for real food....crap. I'll do as the good doctor tells me.....because not being able to eat stinks.....But no one says I have to be happy about it LOL
  5. 4 weeks out and on full foods as of yesterday.....had 1/2 a tsp of dill relish in my egg salad, yum....chewed it well though...can't peel those little suckers.
  6. Thanks....time helps. Let us know how the psych eval goes.
  7. So happy for you, this is great news!!!! Good luck!
  8. I still don't have an answer....I missed the PA's phone call.....and their office was closed when I got the message...
  9. Let me know what the outcome is with your DR.......I spoke with a PA who said the DR may prescribe something for nausea or may put me back on full liquids.......will post when I hear back...
  10. Today makes 4 weeks for me, too......I was on soft foods last week.......somewhere I've posted about this today......and as of friday, everything I eat causes nausea........we were on vacation, so I didn't pay so much attention to it.......but this morning back at work, I realized I had nausea for over 6 hours........I have a call into the dr.......liquids are good, soft foods, bad..........and I'm on prilosec....it is frustrating, I'm right there with ya! I still try to eat 2 ounces of Protein at meals.....and have a premier Protein Drink (or 2) sipped throughout the day for protein....Good luck
  11. Wow! those pictures are amazing.....congratulations, and have a happy happy birthday!
  12. Too funny, but ya gotta luv that man!!!!
  13. I had to mix crystal light with the isopuke (love that.....because it's soooo bad)...I used the liquid and kept squeezing it in until it was pallatable.....Once I was on full fluids, the Premier Protein drinks were what I turned to......I tried the protein shakes, but couldn't get them thin enough.....good luck!
  14. I am a newbie struggling with just getting Protein in right now, but I hope a year after surgery the occasional slice of pizza would be okay......maybe once or twice a year.....which is what we did before surgery. I don't have kids and my husband nearly eats like a bariatric patient anyway, except for ice cream, so it makes it easier. I think if something is working for ya and works with the guidelines given, then go for it.
  15. Good Luck on 9/9! There's a great thread on the pre-op board with regards to what to bring to the hospital...I think it's one of the first threads...I brought very little and spent a lot of time walking the hospital floor.....I brought a dress to wear home--make sure whatever you wear home it is very lose around the mid section as you will be swollen.....a small pillow to wear under the seat belt on the ride home. I have an old scale that I like a lot...weigh everything...I'm 4 weeks out...initially I used my son's baby spoon and a tiny fork....but I've graduated to big girl utencils LOL
  16. Don't worry about it........be yourself and truthful............otherwise you'll only hurt yourself in the long run. Every psych eval is different.......they want to make sure you are in the right place for surgery (mentally). I've never been treated/diagnosed for depression....however, before my son's funeral I was prescribed atavan because I was freaking out "a bit" LOL At the eval, we talked about everything under the sun, family, relationships, the loss of my son, and everything went fine....then she asked how I felt about my weight, and that's when I cried LOL I was embarrassed, disappointed in myself....yada yada.... Some people said they had to fill out a questionnaire....but that wasn't the case for me..... in fact, if I find myself struggling and going back into bad habits, I will seek out her help for therapy.....she did say that if I find that I'm experiencing anxiety post op, and sometimes people do, that I may want to go back on atavan for awhile and seek therapy--it was an evaluation, but I also benefited from it as well.......good luck!
  17. Thanks........I got to the office and hit the ground running......just looked at the clock and have been nauceaus for 6 hours straight....will post when I hear back from the dr's office....thanks again.
  18. You're doing great....I'm 4 weeks out and down 17 pounds....I'm not worried about it, but I'm afraid of my dr's appointment next week and hearing that I haven't lost enough...
  19. I've been on soft foods last week, and until Friday did very well.....as of 4 days ago, everything I eat causes pain and nausea.....it starts at 5 a.m. with the Prilosec I take, and everything afterwards....the chewable Vitamin (bariatric fusion), cottage cheese, chicken, fish.....even just the teeniest bite or two...........water, diluted crystal light, and premier Protein drinks are going down fine....any thoughts on what's going on? Suggestions? I sent the PA an email, but I received an automated reply that she's out until next week.....the same day of my appointment....so I'll call the office when it opens, but was wondering if you all had any experience with this. THANKS SO VERY MUCH!!!!!
  20. I decided not to tell people about it for all the reasons others have mentioned...plus I know for a fact my family would not be supportive.....my sister & husband know.....that's it....family members, friends, coworkers don't know...I even made a facebook page under this name to keep it off my real facebook page However, I just came back from vacation (visited my in laws)....I have a sister in law who has struggled with her weight her entire life....I mean ENTIRE life(she's now in her 50's)....so I told my MIL & SIL about the surgery.....I didn't want them to think I had found some miracle pill/diet....and wanted to plant that seed, answer any questions, and offer support if my SIL wanted it. Their paths and my family/friends paths don't cross.....I still don't know what I'll tell my family when they finally notice (I've lost over 30 pounds since preop, and they haven't noticed) It's your decision on who/if you tell.....I feel it's been my struggle, my business, no one else's.....good luck with whatever you decide! The only "right" answer to this question is what works best for you.
  21. Well I've lost 15 pounds since surgery 8/6...and my weight stayed the same for 5 days in a row.....and now its happpened again.....but this time its been 7 days.....and counting.......and doing everything I m spoda.....but not gonna let me down......fit comfortably in a booth 2day..first restaurant meal post opp......and going kayaking 2morrow....take care everyone...
  22. Congrats & Good Luck!!!!
  23. years ago I came to the conclusion that I probably don't feel pain like most people... My incisions never hurt, I wasn't in any pain after surgery.......a soreness internally where the staple line is.......but I just felt sore in that one spot....when I laid down, it would hurt to get up, so for that first week I slept in my recliner....and I now feel a sharp pain when I bend to tie my shoes or pick up a piece of paper off the floor. But every day drinking got better that first week, the soreness decreased each day.....Pureed foods was hard initially....each day it got better..... I'm three weeks out, and most days I feel "normal".....as I did before surgery.....except when I eat, that's a whole 'nother ball game....still having a tough time getting in my fluids.....doing okay with Protein, hitting close to the low end (60g) I wasn't hungry nor interested in liquids the first two weeks....but I do feel hunger now.....and head hunger too, but that's a work in progress....Good luck!
