  1. Totally acceptable. Lol
  2. I take 1 in the am & 1 in the afternoon
  3. 40 lbs in a month seems like a big goal coming from your surgeon. The post op care you're getting isn't unusual- similar to mine. BUT... If you want what was agreed on preop, you should def question your doctor's office.
  4. Blue Gatorade and 1 oz medicine cups (used to drink from)
  5. Everyone's diet is different.... But probably not.
  6. Please go punch your husband in the face.
  7. He probably just meant on the outer incisions.
  8. Every doctor will say something different. Mine says no NSAIDS ever. Some just say for x amount of days/weeks/years after.
  9. Your PCP can refer you to one.
  10. I think y'all are so right about paying it forward and helping others!! Such a great way to look at it!
  11. I want to start off by saying- 1) I'm not complaining. 2) I'm not bragging. But do any of you feel like you've had it too good?? 3 months post op I'm feeling and doing wonderful! I'm following my plan, hitting my goals on time, no hiccups really. Even the surgery itself went smoothly and with very little pain afterwards. But lately I've been meeting people (who are either post op VSG or band) who are doing TERRIBLY- complications, feeling sick, not losing weight, etc. I sometimes even feel guilty (not sure if that's the best word- but the best way I can think to describe it) that I'm all happy & healthy and others are so miserable. A man from my home town is currently hospitalized after complications from his sleeve- he's doing very poorly- and I guess seeing all the posts on FB about his situation really makes me feel so lucky/blessed with my outcome-- but guilty at the same time. Does this make sense at all??
  12. I'm a little over three months and still feeling that way. It's especially difficult when my husband's away for work and no one is there to force feed me. Lol. I eat bc it's time to eat. I'm rarely hungry and don't really have many cravings (if I do, it's usually for steak). I actually hope this continues.
  13. My doctor told me walking for the first 2 weeks, then swimming and light hand weights after week 2, and then at the following appointment (week 5 I think) he told me to start training for the Olympics. Haha.
  14. The walking is great - but I would not suggest squats for at least the first couple weeks. Don't wanna pop anything! Ick!
  15. My doc says don't go more than 3 days w/o a BM. After a few dreadful times of impaction, I decided to start taking Colace - a stool softener- daily (1 or 2 depending on what I'm eating). If it's already day 3, I take a laxative (usually Milk of Mag). But the Colace has seemed to be helping avoid that so far!! (But I just started this regimen last week).
  16. Well hello! And good luck!!
  17. I had no preop diet- my surgeon said he doesn't believe it makes enough of a difference (it's not worth the trouble) and he's been doing wls since the early '80s. It's just each surgeon's beliefs / opinions.
  18. Be sure to ask your surgeon-- this is very important as not all medications can be crushed.
  19. 85 lbs in 2 months?!? That's amazing!!! Congratulations!
  20. Um, all fat girls have pretty faces.
  21. I can just about promise you ... months out, the hair pulling will not be the most exciting part!
  22. 1. Excessive thirst?? I don't this is quite as common as your NUT told you it is. I drink the recommended amount (64 oz/ day) and I usually don't feel thirsty beyond that. Actually, some days I feel like I'm drowning! Lol the only issue I have with thirst is after a workout reminding myself not to gulp Water, as that tends to hurt. 2. Not drinking with meals: Ok, I know some people break this rule, but its an important one, especially at the beginning. You want your food to stay in your belly as long as possible to feel fuller longer and (more importantly) give time to absorb nutrients. You get used to it. Just don't have the drink next to you- don't tempt yourself. 3. Unfortunately, I don't think you can get past the first couple months without Protein shakes. After that, you should be able to get enough from solid sources (with much work and planning, of course). This surgery def comes with a lot of lifestyle changes. My advice to you would be to stick to your doctors plan in order to be sucessful and healthy.
