    "What are you doing?!"

"I'm just freaking awesome! And why aren't you??" Kidding. I've been very open and honest about my surgery. Which is easier in some instances because I don't have to make up anything. The truth is always easier. But yes, some people are very harsh & even down right mean. It's a lot easier at 2 yrs out bc I look and feel amazing & I can just tell them to kiss it.

So for the first time in 20+ years...

Confession: I went swim suit shopping the other day. I cried in the dressing room.

    Goodbye to beer and pizza?

I had pizza today! A whole slice (at nearly 2 yrs out)... But it was only the 2nd time in two years I've had it I'm not a beer drinker.

Someone who's a year post op

Hi! I hit my goal around 7 months. And then I hit my stretch goal between 7 months and a year. The first year was full of so many changes. It wasn't until after my 1st Surgeversary that my emotions began level & I began to feel more comfortable. There's still times that I'm flipping through photos and I don't recognize myself. I'm pretty much obsessed with mirrors because I'm still caught off guard by my reflection. Don't compare yourself to others. Don't discount your story ... Because, well, it's YOUR STORY... Stalls included. Just keep going. This is a process, a lifestyle- not a race. Best of luck!

    Lying to feel better?!?

OMG. This made me laugh so hard. Thank you.
  12. I had my body fat tested as a way to gauge how I am doing and as a way to set goals. The scale was no longer helpful to me. I had gotten down to 126 lbs before I started weight lifting. I'm now 132 lbs.... But it was muscle gain, not fat. Still, it was frustrating for the scale to be moving up. I decided the scale was no longer an appropriate tool, and BMI was ever an approprIate tool. Lol. I figured body fat% was the way to go. I was a little nervous because I knew the caliper method would not work on us wls peeps because of our loose skin. My gym uses a machine with electrodes (looks like an EKG) and the impulses measure density. Thought it was pretty cool. And it seems more accurate than calipers.
