hopeliveshere got a reaction from MarinaGirl in revision due to reflux
Been on a break from the site for a while... had my surgery back on 11-12-13. Sw 257lbs, Reached goal of 150 at 14 months out (January 2015)....got pregnant literally less than a week later. Baby girl is almost 2 now. Since my surgery I have suffered from reflux and its gotten continually worse to the point I feel like my inside are literally on fire. I also have no restriction whatsoever since my pregnancy and have managed to get back up to 185. I had an esophagram done may 5th and my surgeon wants to revise me to RNY sometime this month. They have already submitted to my insurance and I am just waiting for my approval. I am nervous and excited all at the same time. so happy to get relief from the reflux and get back on track

Thanks, cat woman!
Crazy as it sounds, I like the idea of having the threat of dumping as it acts as a natural incentive to avoid too many carbs and fats. I desire that limitation.
I'm hoping my stomach stays small for life as it will be easier to maintain that way.

Hi all!

This board has been through this before. Generally I take a hiatus and come back periodically. I'm sorry to read that things blew up on highly valued members who gave a lot and have a lot of experience. Hopefully a break will bring them back around.

What a shame. A great wealth of knowledge was lost...

hopeliveshere reacted to NurseBec in 3years out with severe heartburn
I am not a doctor but I have experienced similar things. It was so horrendously bad that I have been admitted to hospital to run tests thinking it was something much worse than gerd. I take PPI's everyday now and try my absolute best to maintain an alkaline diet. Alkaline Water, absolutely no tomatoes anything no sausages, straightforward simple foods. Baked or boiled chicken, carrots, sometimes bananas. Bananas affect everyone differently sometimes it makes it better and sometimes worse. Try checking out what "lifestyle changes" u can make. I quote it because it sounds like Bullshit but for us it's real life. These things help me. Good luckkk.

hopeliveshere got a reaction from NurseBec in 3years out with severe heartburn
Good morning everyone just looking for a little input here, I am 3 years out from sleeve also 15 months post pregnancy. In the beginning after my sleeve I could get away with taking a Prilosec every few days then it became that I needed to take it every day. during my pregnancy I had awful heartburn and would even wake up choking on acid. now it has gotten even worse, I literally feel like the lining of my stomach is burning. I have burning pain in my shoulder like someone is putting a cigarette out on me also with chest pains . Sometimes the burning is so much that I feel like my body is about to burst into flames. I did contact my surgeon and he tried having me double up on Prilosec.which did not work. in fact nothing over the counter works, even If I have not eat anything for the day and still have the worst heartburn ever. does this sound like GERD or something else?
I am scheduled to have an egd with bravo study on January 13th.i have also asked the gastroenterologist if he could check the condition of my sleeve as I have not had any restriction since the 4th month during my pregnancy. I went from 257 to 150 in a year. during the pregnancy I got up to 192 and right now I am sitting on about 176. the only thing that seems to give my stomach a bit of relief is when I do eat so I find myself grazing a lot now. I am hoping for a revision.

There is no way in he!! I am NORMAL! hahaha.....But based on my BMI this morning I am now in the normal range...I can't believe it! I had surgery on 5/16/16. My starting weight was 252....I've lost 97.8 pounds and weigh 154.2 this morning!!! I only have 4.2 pounds to go before I hit my goal weight!! It's only been about 6.5 months.....I'm just amazed!!
First pic (I'm in the middle)....my daughter, me and my mom at Thanksgiving.
Second picture is me this past Easter before my surgery....ekkkk!

My mother was not a bariatric patient, but she became pregnant with my youngest brother when she was 44. For the first five months she thought she was going through the change. Then the change started to kick!

hopeliveshere reacted to Bufflehead in No longer answering these questions:
Why did you choose sleeve vs RNY? What Protein Shakes do you like? What is a good Vitamin to take? What are your favorite purees? Help, I'm three weeks post-op and I've stopped losing weight! What should I take to the hospital? When can I go back to work? How can I prevent loose skin? If I take 50 million mcg of Biotin every day and get all my Protein in, can I prevent Hair loss? When can I eat pizza/popcorn/birthday cake? When can I drink alcohol? When can I drink coffee and isn't it true that drinking coffee will leave you a dry, withered husk of a person with all your vital fluids sapped out of your body? Don't get me wrong -- I am not mad at anyone for asking these questions (though truth be told I wonder why people don't try a little harder sometimes to read up on things in advance and figure out they've all been asked many, many, many times before). It's more that I have been here a long time and don't feel like I have anything new or enlightening to add, and it's time for the newbies to get some practice answering the most frequently answered questions. Good luck y'all! I will stick around but will be trying to dial back my talkativeness.
