bcbs in iowa
I have Anthem BCBS in Maine, and they have been fabulous. And my surgery was 100% covered.

My fitness pal
I use it for everything. It's important to keep track of calories, fat, carbs, and Protein. It all comes into play in weight loss. You're early in the game, but this stuff becomes more important later on.

New pic
happy for you! You look gooooood!

BMI of 32 and getting a sleeve?
You will be fine. People who can't stop losing have anorexia or bulimia, and their issues go way beyond the sleeve. Good luck.

Drinking from a straw
I used a straw by accident today. I ordered an iced tea at a restaurant, and it came with a straw. I drank a quarter of it before I realized it. So I took it out, but I have to be honest, I didn't notice any pain or gas from the straw.

pretty proud of my lunch today
Yep. Carbs ( mashed and saltines) will definitely slow things down. Good luck!

Guess what I can do!
That is so great!

I love my sleeve!
Stop trying to make us all swoon! You look great, congrats.

Is there anything more depressing...
I don't care what I have to pay, I'll get hair extensions if I have to! Not sure skinny and bald is the look I am going for.

3 days post op
I am 8. 5 weeks. I am a slow and steady loser, not hitting any plateaus, and loving that aspect of slow loss! I only weigh once a week or less, it keeps my head in the game, instead of feeling frustrated. Keep up the great work!

normal not to be overly nervous?
I was beyond excited the first time around--I was supposed to be sleeved in July. The abnormal EKG dashed my hopes, so I had a good 4 month long food funeral until I was finally sleeved in Dec. Best decision I ever made! You will rock this!

I started taking my pills right away. 1 month out seems reasonable. Why don't you give it a shot?

15 grams of carbs/500 or fewer calories a day until I lose 100 pounds?
Yes, find a clinic that supports you. This place is abusive!

Day 5 Post Op - Feeling weak. Normal?
The shakiness could also be low blood sugar due to low calories. It will get better! I promise! Something with carbs like a bit of yogurt or cottage cheese will help, once you are able to eat it. I also experienced low blood pressure, and my doc. dropped my BP meds 2 weeks after surgery.

What type of foods and how much in one sitting can you eat 1 year after gastric sleeve surgery?
I am 8 weeks out and I have recently moved from a quarter cup of cottage cheese to a half cup. From half of a container of yogurt to a full container. (And when I started eating these foods, I ate 1-2 tablespoons before I was full.) My NUT told me that after the first six months, most people work up to about a cup of food per meal. At this point, my meals are still pretty small, so they are all protein.) I know I am not very far out, but I thought I'd give you this perspective! Good luck!

OH SH!T!
Agreed. I only weigh once a week or once every 2-3 weeks. I am a slow loser, so I know if I am ruled by the scale, I will get too frustrated. Don't let the scale control you! You are doing everything right! The weight will come off.

8 months post-op
You look beautiful!

Thin Eyebrows
My hair is pretty fine anyway. If it starts to fall out, I am getting a weave!

3 days post op
You are most likely experiencing blood clots which can be fatal. Go to the Emergency Room right away.

Abnormal EKG
Thanks for posting! It's nice to see someone else who started with a low BMI being so successful 11 months later! I am 9 months behind you and hope to see the same success!

Shelton's (gluten free) turkey meatballs come frozen. A serving size is 6 meatballs, I can manage 3. Good Protein, yummy, cooks in a minute or 2 in the microwave. Combine with Pasta and sauce for your husband. Poof! Easy dinner.

Abnormal EKG
I had an abnormal EKG. I found out a week before my scheduled July surgery that I have Atrial Fibrillation. I had to go through a day long battery of tests, echocardiogram, stress test, etc. to look for structural problems within the heart. I was preparing myself mentally for a heart disease diagnosis. But as it turns out, my AFib is from diabetes, obesity, sleep apnea, and metabolic syndrome. (joy) No heart damage. The pain in the ass part of this story is I had a cardioversion (which lasted 4 months, it turns out) and I had to delay surgery from July to December. I am scheduled for anther cardioversion next week. Breathe deeply. It will all be OK!
