Just 3 more sleeps
Your convictions and reason for following through, chapstick, toothbrush, jammies, lotion. You'll do great!

Got my surgery date and.....help?
Most clear liquid diets include sugar-free jello and sugar-free popsicles. Check with your doctor's office to make sure these are OK. You CAN do this. You MUST do this.

The Correlation: Fiber Gummies, Miralax, 2 Week Stall
Yep--my stall this week was apparently due to the same problem. I need to get things moving again!

The scale is moving in the wrong direction...
Everyone gains weight after the surgery. Most of it is from the IV fluids you were given that your body has yet to expel. Also, your body is still adjusting. Please look up Butterbean's signature. There is an article there you need to read about how your body will lose weight. In the meantime, just know this is normal! You are fine.

I read somewhere....
My NUT said no coffee--not even decaf--until the 12 week mark. I am just over 10 weeks now and drinking it. Apparently they think it is too acidic for a healing stomach, so I listened for quite a while, but eventually I gave in! It also tends to dehydrate the body, so that's a little counter-productive right now. But I find most people on here had no restrictions at all from their docs.

Protein bars
I like the Think Thin bars, but the rave reviews of the Quest cookie dough bars caused me to look them up on Amazon, and surprise! They are gluten free! So I bought a box. Looking forward to it.

any recommendations for pureed food in the initial period?
Cottage cheese was a must for me, also yogurt. I lived on them while supplementing with Protein shakes.

Hospital
My program schedules people for 2 nights typically, but I was there for 3 nights because of cardiac Afib.

sleeved 2/24/14
I think we all had that moment of regret shortly after surgery, but it passes quickly. Happy for you!

My transformation in video!
Glad you decided to "wake up and be awesome". You look terrific, and it was clearly an emotional/spiritual journey for you. Very happy to see you fit perfectly into those 5/6's!

Exercising?
I count grocery shopping with 2 kiddos as exercise! Also if you have TV "On Demand", there is a fitness channel that has various exercise options for free. You might also check out videos at your local library.

3 week out.. Wondering mind....
No, no dumping. Sliming, yes, but no dump. And yes, sadly perhaps, you will be able to eat chips and frozen yogurt without any problems. (other than self-sabotage)

Self-control!?
Self-control is an overused insult. How dare they say that to you!!! You are so right when you say that this type of food is your drug of choice. I know my drug of choice is anything salty/crunchy, namely chips. Thankfully, that is not typically the type of food that people bring to an office. And good for you for asking your co-worker to limit what she brings in. Ask and ye shall receive, with any luck. Remember, if anyone is saying you are weak or are being judgmental of you, they will soon be intimidated by your amazing weight loss and strength.

100 pounds down in 8 3/4 months!
You are living proof that stalls are OK! It's also good to see your diet to know I am not too far off the mark. Really happy for you! What success! Enjoy!

Surgery March 7,2014 !
My first few days after surgery were tough. I was exhausted and nauseous beyond belief. Even sipping Water made me gag. But every day got better and better. I had 3 weeks aways from work, and I became stronger and stronger with every day back. The longer out you are from surgery, the more nutrients you are able to take in, which helps. That being said, many people feel well immediately after surgery, this is just my experience. I recommend bringing a tooth brush, pajamas/sweats, and chapstick with you to the hospital. Also a computer/smartphone/iPad, if you can't be without one! I spent a lot of time watching TV. Best of luck!

Anyone had a butt lift? (On its own, not part of a body-lift)
I have not had a butt lift, but prior to the surgery I was a chubby chick with a small and slightly rounded butt. I worked for that butt--it had been just a flat space where my legs joined together previous to obtaining the rounded look. It meant working with my trainer who has butt cheeks the size and density of boulders. (I envy her) I did hundreds of lunges and squats with weights and kettlebells. Now, post-surgery, I seem to have lost all my muscle mass in that region. So when I start training again, that will be one of my points of focus. Good luck finding answers!

This time tomorrow...
It was the same for me as One_More_Time has said. I don't remember being put under, they gave me a sedative in my IV, and the next thing I knew, I was waking up and the surgery was done! All was well. Don't worry about the anesthesia. It is the easiest part!

Sleeping problems?!
I remember feeling weak and tired all the time for the first 2 weeks, and I napped a lot. At night I had a hard time feeling comfortable in bed, so I fortified my recliner with soft blankets and a heating pad. Then if I couldn't sleep well, I always had late night info-mercials to lull me to a state of semi-consciousness. Hopefully your doc. can give you a little something to take the edge off as you get over the hump.

8 days after surgery
Try just a tablespoon or 2 at a time. Your main source of protein/calories should still be Protein shakes. You transition by eating very small portions to remind your stomach what it's supposed to do. But you are still healing, so give it another week before you try eating a quarter cup at a time. Best, Amy

Counting Protein in Puree'd or Soft Food Stage
If you're using a measuring cup (for cottage cheese, for example) you can find your brand on My Fitness Pal and then estimate the amount .25 of a half cup, for example. That's what I do, although I am up to a half cup these days, no problem. Good luck!

my birthday tomorrow the 27th n surgery 6 days away
Good luck! I am cheering for you in all areas of your life.

My Fitness Pal.....Sabatoging me?
I am still at the point where at the end of the day, MFP tells me I am not eating enough calories, but I can understand what you're going through. As an MFP addict, I have a hard time going without it, but I bet it is worth a try for you. On the days my computer is unavailable, I jot down my calories and protein on paper and enter them on MFP later. Maybe just for the heck of it, you could see how that goes. (Paper doesn't tell you what you should be eating! )

Same weight
Look at Butterbean's signature. Read the article and move on. Your body is experiencing something we all go through! I would also recommend weighing yourself less. I know that sounds counter-productive, but the day to day (hour to hour) act of weighing yourself is often more frustrating than just doing what you need to do and trusting in the process. I weigh once or twice a week.

OUCH, OUCH, OUCH! Did I eat too fast?
The over- salivation is the start of the "slimies" for me. (Vomiting saliva/mucous, general grossness) lying down is a good idea when this occurs. It happens to me when I eat too fast or too much. I am at 10 weeks, and these episodes, thankfully, are few and far between!
-
How long should it take?
Eat for no more than 30 minutes. At the end of 30 minutes--you are done. The amount you can eat varies from person to person and day to day, but giving yourself no more than 30 minutes prevents grazing. I am 10 weeks out and can never eat more than 1 egg at a time.
