  1. Great story! Thanks for sharing!
  2. Nerva--you have metabolic syndrome, and most likely insulin resistance. It is hard for people like us to lose weight, even if we are doing everything "right". Don't beat yourself up! I've been there. This surgery helps reduce inflammation and insulin resistance, it controls your hunger, and is a tool to get you where you want to be. Best decision I ever made!
  3. Man, I hear ya on the Diet Pepsi addiction! I used to be able to go through a 2 liter bottle in 24 hours. Gross. When I quit, I transitioned to seltzer, and then water and Crystal light pre-op. Diet Pepsi makes you hungrier. It made me crave salty/crunchy junk food. I am glad I am free of it! One less vice to deal with!
  4. I am only 7 weeks out, but I have been told I will be able to eat about 8 oz. eventually. Right now 2-4 oz. is usually enough. Again, you'll learn your body's signals, but if you are feeling anxious about food for a special occasion, it's OK. Find someone to talk to. Psych. evals. are really helpful!
  5. i didn't weigh for 2 weeks after surgery. The first time I weighed, I had lost 15 pounds. A, month post-op I lost 3 more pounds. Week 5, I lost 2 pounds, and week 6, I lost 1 pound. I am a slow loser, but I hope I start to see a little more lost per week. I will admit, my pants are falling off though! Every little change is a victory!
  6. It does get better each day. You are off to an amazing start! Good for you!
  7. I get at least 50, which is the minimum required by my bariatric team. Initially, it was very hard, but it does get easier.
  8. For my 8 and 6 yr. old, I laid out their school clothes for every day I would be gone. This was comforting to them and me, since Daddy has no idea about kindergarten and second grade fashion! Lunch box love notes are good too. (For Dad to hand out.)Good luck!
  9. Good luck with this. I am a slow loser, and I feel a bit of your frustration!
  10. YOU LOOK AMAZING! And you're such a young'un! Great work.
  11. You need to check with your surgeon's office/nutritionist. They must have diet information for you. I got a binder!
  12. It is my understanding that what the doctor typically sends to insurance is your original weight--the one that qualified you for surgery. I had the same fears--checking with my surgeon put my mind at ease. Good luck!
  13. No, i didn't but I imagine it could your body's way of dealing with the trauma of the surgery. Have you been hypertensive before? Do they think they may want to treat it with meds?
  14. I recommend posting this on the "veterans" forum.
  15. I haven't had another sleep study done since my initial. Not sure how many events I had, but I too was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea. Can't wait for it to go away! You Lucky Ducky! Good for you!
  16. Great idea! I'll try to keep an eye on the Splenda in my life.
  17. Ok, I am not being diplomatic here. Your NUT sounds NUTS! It sounds like you're eating exactly what you should be. Congratulations on your loss!
  18. Huh? Do you mean 1 year after surgery? It depends on the person, but you will be able to eat more 1 year out. You'll know when enough is enough.
  19. Yay! Exciting news!
  20. Don't graze, stick to your plan, no carbonation, no straws. You are all set! I don't know how we know our band is stretched other than being able to eat a lot more food.
  21. Tomato soup was my good friend for a couple of weeks. I found it much easier to tolerate warm fluids instead of cold. Good luck to you! It will get better.
