normal not to be overly nervous?

Recommended Posts

The big day is coming and it's all becoming more real by the day! I'll be rockin' the sleeve on the 19th, and I'm still just school-girl giddy about it. I suppose the nerves will kick in at some point, but how was all of it for you guys? Were you all gung-ho right up until the big day?

In somewhat related news, I have been on my pre-op diet since Jan 9th (1200 cals a day w/ 3 protien shakes and 2 lean 'n green meals) and have managed to have the best of both worlds-- I've dropped 36 pounds but still managed to sneak a couple of food funerals in there! Being 5 days away now, I think that fun part's over, but what a journey it's been thus far.

Pre-op exam with my primary doc tonight, some sort of mandatory 2 1/2 hour meeting/class with the surgeon tomorrow, and next Wednesday, BAM! I'm gunna be the king of sleevetown (or something like that...)

My best to all of you whereever you may be in your respective journeys!

~Pat

I didn't have any food funerals...I was so excited about getting sleeved, I was watching what I ate from the time I was told my surgery date!!!

I really had no apprehensions about the surgery, I WAS READY!!! Congrats on your new journey! :)

Only thing that gets me nervous is if I let myself think about the IV. I just slam the door on those thoughts though. I'll deal with it when the time comes. I usually faint, but I'll be lying down anyway.... I'm the 18th.

My anesthesiologist injected me with numbing meds before he started my IV (I was surprised)...and crazy as it sounds..... they are making needles SOOOOOOOO sharp these days you barely feel it when you are getting stuck.

I think it's more the thought. I smell the alcohol and get dizzy. Lol

My surgery is on the 19th too. I haven't gotten nervous either. I am just way to excited to get this journey going. I have been on the liquids since last Wednesday. I have lost 10lbs so far on it. I have lost a total of 60 lbs to date. I have to say the IV scares me more than the surgery. I had a bad experience with IV before so that is the only concern I have right now.

Good luck and keep us posted.

I was gunge ho right up to 4 days after my surgery.. Then everything went to blazes. I don't think it is common to be like we are/were..but it makes it less stressful I think on us.... :)

I think its perfectly normal! I was headed down to Mexico by myself and I was as cool as a cucumber!

I was ready, on a mission and just looking forward to being a tiny girl. My goal was 130 lbs and to be in a size 2-4. I am mostly there!

My doctor even asked me why I wasn't nervous or anything. I like to take things a day at a time. No use in getting worked up over something I can't control. I know I wanted the surgery, and I know I want to be skinny. Whatever I have to do in between then, I do.

Not sounding cocky, but that's pretty much how I handle everything. And as a newly-sleeved as of the 7th, I can honestly say thay there is nothing to be worried about! Enjoy!

That's how I feel right now. I'm headed to Mexico on Saturday, flying out to San Diego on Saturday by myself! I think I'm just prepared for this....although on the OR table I may freak out a bit ;)

covatila84 you will be just fine, Once you are down there ( at least for me) they took me from the airport to the hospital got me signing things, into a gown, all the blood works, ekg, it was a lot of stuff combined into a couple of hours. Once I was alone the anesthesiologist came in and gave me a happy shot into my IV that knocked me out and let me relax and sleep until they had me on the table.

I didn't even realize I was on the OR table.

Once it was over, I was up and walking and getting on with my day.

If they offer you something take it!!!! They may not offer they may just give it to you.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
