Just remember, we did not gain the weight over night it was a day by day, week by week, year by year process. All the more so now that we loose the weight slow and steady.
Don't give up, live it up!

Go to a petstore and look as a 20 bag of dog food, you have lost that much weight. Or go to the store and look at 4 of those 5 pound rolls of hamburger mean (the ones that looks like a giant tube of Breakfast sausage) those pounds are gone forever. Don't think of it as only, think of it as wow 20 pounds. Your weightloss will pick backup and you will love your sleeve again. (((hugs)))

Hi. Tomorrow is my three months. Just wanted to tell my experience at three month out for me. I weighed today and I'm down 48 pounds. For three months I am very happy about that. I know without this surgery I could not have done it that fast. I have had stalls along the way and one week I actually gained two pounds. Very discouraging. But I knew it would get better. And it has. Having this forum to read I knew some people gained and I knew alot of people had stalls. And that it was normal. I can eat anything I want. Haven't had anything to make me sick. I do have to be careful and stay away from my sliders. My favorite slide is Cheetos. I do allow myself a few every Monday night. But that's all. I know I don't want to go back to my old habits. I still don't eat bread. I am afraid if I start on it I won't be able to stop. So for me I stay away from it. I also stay away from sodas. I do not drink with my meals. I wait thirty minutes after I eat. I've been bless to have a great recovery. And looking forward to the next few months and years of my life.

I go for this 1-2 times a week. Usually one can a week works for me. I'll drink half one morning when I just can't get going and finish the other half sometime later in the week or several days later. No carbonation, B Vitamins and the whole can has around 30 calories or so. I split it up because I don't want all of that caffeine at once, just half of it usually wakes me up. I'm not really a coffee drinker. They also makes these in lemonade and grape.

I drink 5hr energy every morning during my 70 minute commute to work. I mix it with my 32oz water bottle and that's a good start to daily Fluid intake.

I weigh every morning after using the bathroom and before taking a shower. I track everything I eat and drink and want to know when I'm stalled. I review my food choices make changes, increase cardio and have even reverted back to a full clear liquid diet for two days ring shock my body. I feel I need to know. I feel knowing is power and I will be able ring make better decisions. I do have to say that I only record my eight once a week. This helps if there is any fluctuation (1x) and stalls (2x). Also, this is what's good for ME, MYSELF, and I....maybe not everyone

I am 13 days postop and have 4 kids and feel your pain. I have been making most of my kids meals and usually after i serve them dinner i go to bed cause I've been feeling crummy in the evening. The thing that has helped me is that I've been completely honest with my kids they know what I had done and why i had it and they offer me food but ask me if i can have it first. They really have been considerate.

I'm feeling great when it comes to progressing (liquids, Protein, exercise). Tolerating all that without difficulty. I have lost a total of 17 lbs including the 5 lbs preop. Problem is its Saturday and I feel that I'm confined to the house. Never stopped to think how much my life revolved around food. When I leave the house food comes up: we're either going to dinner, to buy grocery or getting a snack as we go wherever.....I'm so bitchy right now, my kids are catching hell. Yes I have 3 kids who I feel are suffering with me! : , (
The oldest keeps asking., "how long before you can eat?"....I have another week of full liquids...what's a momma to do?

I hear you. I was sleeved three weeks ago yesterday. I have really had to think about stuff my husband and I used to do and how much THAT used to revolve around food!! Scary!
I think it is normal to reflect on the part food has played in our lives and how that is going to change.Sometimes it feels depriving but I believe being on a limited diet doesn't help. There is so little I can eat right now that I am pretty much confined to getting all my meals from my kitchen and the list my surgeon gave me is truly weird. I keep wondering if there is a method to his madness...........needless to say, I am sick of the food on it and am really eating purely for nourishment at this point....which is strange, never did that before!!
I do believe that all changes when you are free to eat whatever you want and can exercise good sense. Then you will be able to go places and make healthy choices in smaller amounts. Hang in there!! Everyone says it gets better!!!

That's a tough one! I had to excuse myself for the first couple of weeks because I felt the same way. And it was to hard to be around food. Luckily my husband took over for a bit with cooking the meals at home. But in the first weeks I also was faced with having to go out to eat once or twice. I took the opportunity and ordered Soup and spent my time enjoying the conversation.. If you do things like take them to the movies bring a pre made shake and sip on that.. It really helps.

Trenya07@aol.com reacted to melodymouse in Benefits of increased Protein intake
NewMe48, WHO told you to increase your Protein to 160g per day? That is wrong for weight loss and is a recommendation for body builders who already have little to no excess body fat and put a tremendous demand on their muscles daily. If you want to look like the Incredible Hulk some day, then sure. Right now, your body can't handle that much protein, especially your kidneys. You seriously need to consult with your doctor or QUALIFIED nutritionist before you try something so extreme. The National Institute of Health has a simple calculation to determine how much protein the average person needs, and it changes as your body changes.
It is: .8 g per 1 kg or 2.2 lbs of weight. As WLS patients we do require more because we can't/shouldn't consume enough calories to balance out our needs. That's why the Protein First rule is so important. At 3 months you should be getting 60-80 g per day. You also need good carbs, fruits and veggies to give you some quick energy and get the fat burning going. Protein alone for too long or too much will damage your kidneys and liver. Which is why the want us drinking plenty of Water to keep them flushed out.
    Please! Take Care!!
