chasaty379 got a reaction from TES in Ideas for what to tell people?
Its totally okay if you dont want to tell anyone. Its none of their business. Not everyone is around perfect people who wont judge you so do what is comfortable for you. Telling your business or not telling your business is perfectly okay.
All people know (that are not in my inner circle) is that i had a hernia repair.

I was sleeved on 5/13 and have been great up to this point. But I too don't like eating. Have eaten yogurt and no problems. But little chicken yesterday and today white fish. Gave me pressure, burping, felt full for an hour. I will stick with Greek yogurt from now on... Even the Protein Shakes make me uncomfortable....yogurt has 16 grams of Protein. I'll just eat it from now on. It will be trial and error for the next few weeks for us. Good luck.

Okay. Im a little unnerved that i keep seeing people here going right nack to the same eating style that got us into fat camp in the first place.
The gastric sleeve is a blessing and we should treat it that way. Why go through all of this if we just keep eating the trash we were eating before???
Being skinny now doesnt make us immune to health issues. We can still develop hypertension, diabetes, and hypercholesteremia!
Dont live to eat, eat to live. food should no longer be our reward nor focus. Just eat whats necessary and dont push the envelope.
American values has us programmed into thinking food is for fun. Its not, its simply fuel for us to do things that are fun.
Come on people, we have to maintain a healthy lifestyle and stop toying with our health.
    Peace and love to all.

If you have a NUT, you should check with them. I am six weeks out and have had a salad several weeks ago. Some people cannnot tolerate the lettuce early out, so if you try it make sure you take small bites and chew thoroughly. After only a few bites, you will be full.

Ok, time for a reality check people! And I mean this with all kindness and support, but some of you need to put the disappointment and negativity in the closet and lock it away. Think of this...how many times in your life have your consistently lost even ONE pound/week without feeling like it was the hardest thing to do? And as soon as you let up just a little, that 1lb/week weight loss was right back!!!
I know pre-op and post-op eating phases aren't easy, but the weight loss IS happening and faster than anything pre-WLS. So ENJOY!
I'm only 1 day post-op, but I had the LapBand in 2006. With the band, it can take more than 6 weeks for ANY real loss because you have to wait for the first adjustment. Then it really is 1-2 lbs per week for most people. I lost 85 lb in 1 YEAR and was thrilled because it wasn't "that" hard to do, it was relatively consistent and it stayed off for over 5 years.
Now that I have the sleeve, I plan on going home and following my NUT's instructions and staying OFF the scales. Because I know that if I follow the guidelines, eat right, and exercise (at least some), the weight WILL come off. And since the past 2 years I've consistently fought an UPHILL battle again with the scale numbers slowing creeping UP, any DOWN movement will be wonderful.
So I understand the desire to get the weight off fast...but just LIVE YOUR LIFE, people! Just enjoying doing things you couldn't do at your highest weight, adventure, etc....as long as you're happy while you're losing weight, you're already a winner!

Yes you can get dumping syndrome with the sleeve. You can get dumping syndrome without any surgery at all. Read a medical journal too.
The prevalence of dumping syndrome is lower with the sleeve but 100% possible.

Nicely put. I have to be in total agreement. Even though I am almost 3 weeks out since my surgery I am very mindful of what I eat. I find myself already thinking ahead of the healthy dishes I can't wait to make for myself as well as my family. I have always loved to cook but this just makes it more exciting. I am looking so forward to the new healthier me and the new recipes that I will be sharing. The Best is yet to come and not only will I be benefiting from eating healthy my family will be as well.

chasaty379 reacted to LouiseC in MUFAs - beautiful, tasty fats!
There is a lot of talk on here about Protein, about carbs and about calories. What I don't see very often is talk about fats. Not the stuff we are trying to shift from our butts and guts, but the good stuff the MUFAs, monounsaturated fatty acids. Cold Water fish, seeds, nuts, avocados, dark chocolate, olives.... Great stuff! Calorie heavy but very, very good for our health and our weight loss, they enhance heart health, protect against chronic disease, and, wonderfully, they target abdominal fat.
Do people here track their intake?
Are NUTs recommending people ensure to keep their MUFA intake up?
I sometimes suspect when I see how few calories some people are consuming that they are not eating these wonderful fats. Especially when they are struggling with weight loss and get stuck in stalls.
It is so easy to become so focused on calories and on Protein and carbs that we can forget about that other part of the MFP pie chart. Our fats. We have to eat fat to burn fat.
Are you consciously choosing your fats?
