  1. I am struggling with the social aspect of food. My friends are all over weight and it seems like all they are interested in is meeting for dinner or meeting for happy hour for drinks. I am trying to encourage them to do other activities that aren't focused on good but no one is interested. I am starting to decline offers to go out and am starting to feel a little lonely. I am trying to change the focus of my life in what I consider an environment that is dangerous to my weight loss success. Has snyone else had this problem and if so, how did you handle it?
  2. There are so many changes we have all had to make with our life styles and challenges to overcome but it is so worth it! I am six months out and have lost 54 lbs. I just treated myself to a new wardrobe. My Type II diabetes is gone. i have eliminated one of my two blood pressure medications and was able to half the dose on the remaining med. I suspect I will totally be off of blood pressure medication completely for the first time in 26 years very soon. Even though my focus was to improve my health, I have decided that 75 lbs will be my weight loss goal, so I am 21 lbs away! Can't drink when eating a meal? Had to give up sodas? I consider these minor sacrifices when I see all of the positive benefits I am enjoying! Weight loss surgery is only a tool! We have to keep our focus on making changes and being successful and learning to forgive ourselves if we aren't perfect every day on this journey. Try to overcome a new challenge each day and keep a positive attitude! I am proud of all of us for having the courage to take this step and encourage you all to take it one day and one challenge at a time!
  3. My main reason was health issues but I have to say I am enjoying other aspects like being able to fit into smaller sizes. My health has really improved! Type II diabetes gone! Had to eliminate one of my blood pressure medications and was able to half the dose on the other one! I have no regrets and am so glad I did this for myself.

    Hospital Theives?

Not necessarily the employees but could be other people who are at the hospital. That is a general disclaimer to let you know the hospital can not be responsible for your personal belongings. I work at a hospital.
  5. I have developed a new health problem every year since turning 50 and decided that I needed to reverse this trend or I was headed for disaster. I am almost 5 months out, 50 lbs lighter, have normal blood sugars now, just eliminated one of my two blood pressure medications, and weaned my asthma medication. I feel very optimistic and happy about having a healthy future.

In need of nighttime snack ideas

Jussme......does the Dannon Greek use artificial sweeteners? I used to eat the regular and loved it but stopped because of the artificial sweeteners.

In need of nighttime snack ideas

I like Yoplait Greek. 110 calories, 0 fat, 8 gm protein ( less than quoted... must have been thinking if last one I tried) and NO artificial sweetners (Iam trying to stay away from those).

You could have a little fruit with yogart instead of cottage cheese. I was never a big fan of Greek yogart but have found a couple that have 10 gm protein and are lower in fat and calories and do not taste like I am eating sour cream. I make a mini parfait using yogart, fruit and a spoonful of granola. This also helps with the sweet tooth.

I like fresh pears and cottage cheese or sliced apple dredged in a little peanut butter.

    So discouraged...

4 1/2 month follow up with my surgeon this morning and 48 pounds. Only lost about 10 lbs first month and I have had to learn patience. He was very happy and said I'm right on track. Sometimes the scale doesn't change for 10 to 14 days and then down 5 in a week. I am putting that enemy in a dark closet and take it out on Fridays only to weigh from now on. I am going to start measuring my success by the way I feel, my improved health and active life style and all of the clothes I am donating to charity rather than the number on the scale. If I get stuck than I know I need to eat more to break the starvation mode my body is in. Hope this post helps. Hang in there everyone because it is happening. We are all different so don't get discouraged if you are a slow loser instead of a fast loser (and I use the word loser in the most respectful way)! :-D
