Caffiene
You are probably just fine. My guess is you won't be able to drink as much as you think. I weaned off caffeine prior to surgery so I didn't have the headache on top of everything else. For me, it's the ritual of the morning cup. I make a cup of decaf every morning. Pour half into another cup and stick it in the freezer. Enjoy a few sips of of the hot decaf and then about half an hour later use the coffee in the freezer for my morning Protein shake. Throw in the coffee, half a cup of skim milk and a scoop of chocolate Protein powder, hand full of ice and while it's not Starbucks, I have a nice little Mocha. As long as you can keep up with your Water intake, you are probably fine to have a few sips. Good luck!

Two weeks post op and starting to feel very different
So today I am 2 weeks post op. Most of what is going on with me is emotional. I have lost 26 total pounds between the pre op and surgery. My surgery as a whole went textbook easy. Got a nice Margarita cocktail as the doc called it before I went to the OR. By then, I didn't have a care in the world. I scooted on the the operating table and remember it felt hard. Next thing I know I am being asked if I wanted to wake up. I was in recovery. Of course my first thought was Thank you GOD! I woke up. My second thought OMG WTF have I done???? I was feeling very cold so they wrapped me in several heated blankets and all was right with the world. After my stint in recovery, it was off to my room. Hubby is waiting for me there. I get wheeled up and realized I have been parked in a beautiful 2 room suite. Had remote controlled blinds and fridge, nice queen size couch for hubby to sleep on. Dining table as well. Don't know how I got on the VIP list but I wasn't ask any questions. I slept for about 3 hours and then the nurse came and asked if I was ready to get up and walk. I knew I wanted to as soon as I can so that I can heal faster. Got up and walked 1 short lap around the nurses station. After that, I did not return to my bed until after 10pm to sleep. I find it so much easier to get up from a chair than the bed so I was up walking every hour. I helped more than I can say. I was keeping up with the Water requirement so felt very good about going home the next day. Next morning I got released to go home. My stay was very uneventful. The nurses hovered and make sure I had every thing I needed and anything I wanted. I was told my Dr. wrote orders for several pain meds and anti nausea meds and I had to do was ask for what I wanted. I make sure to keep on top of the pain and nausea and asked early and often. It worked as I didn't experience any nausea. I was tired when I got home but started on my Clear liquids and clear Protein drinks and was able to keep up with them. Started walking around the house and then down the street. Walked whenever i could, slept when I needed. I was not amused at coming home 8 pounds heavier then I left home. Lots of fluids. It came off over the next 3 days and then my weight started coming off. Not as fast as lots of others but any loss is a good loss. So now I am 14 pounds in 14 days. While I was hoping for more, my body is still recovering. I am following directions and walking 2-3 miles a day, split up. I get all my protein with ease and water with ease. I am expecting the famous 3rd week stall. Guess it pretty much happens to most. I've decided I'm not going to fret over it or anything else. Over the last week or so I have started to feel very calm about it. I am sleeved. I am following my surgeon's instructions to a T. My body has recently undergone a major surgery. I need to be patient and listen to it. Most days I am very energetic and get tons done and lots of walking in. A few days, have felt fatigued and sleepy. I am listening to it. I am accepting what my body is doing now. For once in my life. I will let it lead. I will follow and I feel very good about it. I've put it on the track and now I have to let it ride the track. My job now is to give it what it needs to keep running. I know I can do this and I can't wait to see where my body takes me. I know I'm going to love the ride.

Steri-strips. Heeelp!
I think mine are permanent. I'm 2 weeks today and not a single one is even peeling at the edge.

Any March Sleevers?
Try Isopure. It's light tasting and is 2 grams of protein per oz. 1 20oz bottle has 40 grams of protein. It is by far the the most painless way to get the protein in. Comes in several flavors

11 days post op...
Sleeved on the 6th. My day usually consists of cup of decaf. Take half of that and stick it in the freezer. About half hour after that, I take the decaf, 1/2 cup of skim milk and scoop of unjury chocolate shake and have a "Mocha". 24 grams of protien. lunch is 1/3 cup of tomato soup make with skim milk. Probably a few grams of Protein but some much needed carbs. most all afternoon is Isopure. Try to get about a bottle a day but alway at leat 12 oz. 40 grams of protein. dinner is another 1/3 cup of soup. Evening Premire Protein Shake. 30 grams. I am getting at least 60 oz of Water alone. I start the minute I wake up. Thank goodness I have always been a huge water drinker so that has come in handy. not to mention the isopure and usually a cup of herbal tea before bed. Approx. 70-90 grams of protein per day and got the water thing down. Also waking about 3 miles a day, split in 2 walks.

Not able to Drink Water
You have to get those liquids in. Even if it one sip at a time. Perhaps try crushed ice chips? I had those the first few days and it worked well for me. Good luck to you.

Graduation question
I've been through this with my son. I grew in a family of 7 kids, I am the youngest. College was never on the table for us. We were expected to graduate high school, get a job and move out. My son was the first one on my side of the family to graduate from college out of 15 grandkids. From the first day he went, I was so excited that I would see him walk across the stage with a degree from a top tier college. I could hardly wait! Imagine my surprise when in general conversation while moving him in for his senior year he says he is not walking. Say what? His dad and I paid for that degree (something we are proud we could do) and by golly he was walking if I had to drag him across the stage kicking screaming! I think his dad had a talk with him about sometimes you just have to suck it up for mom. Anyway, he did walk and he was glad because he was proud. Few years later...same kid about to graduate from a top tier law school. I get, so mom, you didn't pay for this degree so you can't make me walk. Say what again? Do you really want to go there again? Really? We can do this the easy way or the hard way. Either is fine by me. Sheesh...you would think after 27 years he would have learned this. (He gets that from his dad.) Long story short: He walked. He was glad he did. Yes, I played the mom card. I use it when I am left with no other choice, but it is something I have used less then 3 times as my children have grown up. Helped also that law school graduation was Mother's day weekend. Moral of the story is: Your hard work is a source of pride to your family and they love you very much. Their heart will be bursting with love and pride for you during your graduation. Do it for them. I promise you won't be sorry. Don't know if you still have your mom, but if you do, please don't make her play the mom card.
