I agree, no matter how much I lose, I will always be the fat girl inside to, and its me. I will embrace her tho, as she has been with me for many, many of my adult years.

In a situation such as yours, I probably would have gotten a bottled Water and a bag of pretzel's. Drinking the water first, hoping that would have filled me up a bit, so not to eat the whole bag of pretzel's. I do try to keep a Protein bar on me at all times tho. But if really hungry, that probably would have not done it. At least with the pretzel's the carbs would have done the job of curbing my hunger.

I eat between 800 to 1000 calories a day, get in 60 grams of Protein a day, and 32oz or more of Water a day.

No, it certainly does not end here, you are going thru a bad craving period. Tomorrow is another day. Pick yourself up, Pat yourself on the back, and start all over again. Don't look back and judge yourself on past eating choices. Only go forward and take one day at a time.. You can do this, you know you can!

Don't be disappointed. I started my journey with my first consult at the Surgeons back in August 2012. I did not have the surgery till 1/2/2013. I too had to do all the Dr/Ins requirements before surgery. When I was told that I was a bummed. But it actually worked out great, I learned a lot from all the classes, and my NUT was great. I still eat my food as she showed me. and its working.. I also took the time to make sure this is what I wanted.. Lots of Thinking.. and then before I knew it my surgery date was here. And its been a new lease on life for me. Love my sleeve, and would not change a thing. Take this time to prepare for a new life that is looming ahead of you. It will be here before you know it.. Enjoy the time to prepare, as I did.. You will do great.. Good Luck

I am 3 1/2 months post-op. I can tell you in the beginning stages I was always hungry. What I did was eat what I could on my stage/plan several times a day. If I ate a yogurt at 10a, and was hungry 45 min later I would eat Soup, and my day continued as said. Two months after surgery is when I could eat anything that my stomach was able to handle, which I did, still kinda staying on plan tho. And my hunger was controlled. I do eat mostly Protein tho, and always start my day with a Protein Shake, protein will def fill you up more than slider foods.. Hang in there I am here to tell you it gets better.. Down 50 pounds, and loving life.. You will do great, Good Luck!

You will do great. The first couple of days were rough, but each day it got better. Bring gas strips with you and chap stick, they were my life savers while I was in the hospital. I would not change my decision for the world, very happy with my sleeve (3 mons post op). Good Luck!

From what you are describing, it all sounds normal. In the beginning I could not get much solids down, so I would eat what I could and move on. Was I satisfied, absolutely not. Was I full for the time being yes. Whenever I felt hungry (which I did alot). I would eat what was on my plan. I would say I ate 4 to 6 small meals a day, again all within the plan. Now, its much easier to get the solids (3 mons post op) down. I am doing very well with my sleeve. Give it time you will see a big difference at your 3 month mark.. Good Luck!

I just posted this reply in another forum, so I copied and pasted..
I was sleeved on 1/2 and I felt hungry all the time as well. I thought it was just me until I found this forum (thank goodness) and then realized that everyone is different. My hunger has really not gone away, so I eat when I am hungry and keep my calories per day between 800 and 900 a day (as per my nut). I have learned tho, that Protein will full me up quickly, which works out perfect, so I make sure I get lots of protein's in, and I stay away from most carbs. I usually eat about six small meals a day. I am down about 36 pounds, and happy with my results so far.. I use the app 'Lose it" to track my calories.. So eat when you are hungry, its the choices of food that will matter the most..

I have bought the deli kind of turkey (lunch meat) and chicken breast (boars head). I usually have this for lunch tho, no bread just the meat about 3 oz and it fills me up.. For dinner I have, plain breast of chicken, with veggies, or turkey chili. I make a bit pot of the chili on weekends and it lasts me all week. Or a turkey patty with veggies. Also do fish some nights, but as you, I was getting tired of it.. So now I am on the turkey chili, and have been loving it..

I too have those thoughts, and I must say, without judgments. I sometimes think they might be scared, or just don't have the funds for the surgery, so they go each day as I did overweight. And I say this because, it actually happen to me. My neighbor is overweight, she knew I was getting WLS when I started my journey back in August 2012. We chatted several times about it, and I never said to her that she should think about it. I am 3 months post op, and saw her the other day, she noticed the weight loss, we chatted, she went on her way. That afternoon I got a txt from her, asking me about my surgeon, since seeing me her fear had dissipated, and was very interested in the surgery. I gave her my surgeon's number, her appt was today, insurance approved. She should have her surgery by July/August. When we spoke this evening she said she was scared to do it, but wanted to do it forever.and if it was not for seeing me and being honest with her about how I lost the weight, she probably would not have done it.. she was very appreciative. I told her I will be with her every step of the way.. I am very happy for her. She had joy in her voice.. I also think that when sleevers start losing the weight we feel so much better about everything, but we will never forget how miserable we were being overweight..and kinda just want to pay it forward.. Its totally not about judgment..

The preop diet will help shrink the internal fat in your abdomen as well as shrink your liver. This will make it easier for your surgeon to see and perform your surgery. This will also mean less time in the operating room if they can operate without your liver in the way and that means less anesthesia time. It all is to your benefit. Talk to your surgeon again and see if they will compromise on the length of your preop diet. Be sure to tell them why it is important to you. Remember if they insist on the 3 months that it is for your benefit. Put yourself first. Good luck to you.

I made it my goal to not ruin my metabolism-- at the advisement of an awesome personal trainer. I eat about 2000 cals a day in maintenance now. I have for an entire year. If I creep up, I cut back a bit. I got my cals up to 1200 as soon as I could post-op in an attempt to not tank my metabolism. I lost most of my weight at the 1500 calorie point. I still made goal at 8.5 months post op! I think I am able to eat a hefty 2K per day now cause I work out and stay active and cause I didn't stay below 1200 cals a day for long. My friend that had gastric bypass ate 600 cals a day for almost year so now when she started eating a measly 1000-1200 a day now she has regained 50 pounds.
Thats why I love my sleeve. I can maintain my weight now at a reasonable calorie count!!!!

Can't believe I am already 6 months post op! While I will never forget where I started, it is starting to be a distant memory and my new life is better than I ever could have imagined!!
The struggles in the beginning were worth it, after all who wouldn't have struggles when you do something like we have done. I just try and take it one day at a time, we all have our good days and bad, but you can't let one bad day overtake all the progress that has been made!
    Loving my sleeve still!

I to, struggled with my weight all my life, the last 5 years have been unbearable. I gave up on living a normal life. I would go to work and then home, no outside activities I was just not up to it. I would sweat at the drop of a hat, and walking any distance at all winded me. When I starting having someone come to stores with me and waiting for me at the front of the store with car so I can run in and get what I needed, I knew I had to make a change. August 2012, I was recommend to my surgeon from a Dr friend of mine and went in for a consultant for the lap band. Two hours later the decision was I was getting sleeved, and I never looked back or questioned my decision. I am 11 weeks post op and have lost 45 pounds. this loss is all after surgery as my surgeon did not require any pre op diet. I feel fantastic. I am walking daily without being winded, and I have stopped sweating so frequently. I am off my Water pill (retained water prior to surgery) and all my blood work is perfect. And my energy level is thru the roof. I am out and about daily. I eat almost everything I want, I have chosen to cut out most carbs, just to help me with the weight loss, as carbs were never my friend. I go out to eat often, and make the right choices, fish, chicken, veggies, Soups (not cream soups). I am so glad I made this decision and wound not change it for the world. I also have not had one complication from the surgery, it all ran very smoothly. I was 265 day of surgery with a bmi of 44.. It is wonderful feeling.. I recommend to anyone who has the struggle I did.. You are def going in the right direction. Good Luck!
