Desk job here too! The gym I've been going to for the past 2+ years is really good and I'm lucky to only have to pay $20 a month for my gym membership. It's a block and a half from my office, so I walk there and lift at lunch Mon-Fri. It's very convenient for me and I'm very fortunate to have a gym that's so cheap and close to work. Sitting the rest of the day makes me very eager to get out at lunch and exercise......very therapeutic for me.

I work nights as a telephone operator at a hospital , I walk in place at my desk. Kind of like a march lifting my legs high. Sometimes I do a half hour or more, sometimes I do 10 minutes per hour. I can still get my phone if it rings.

I am so sorry that you are not receiving the support that you deserve from your wife.
You are right this stage sucks. I remember it well.
It is only temporary though until your stomach heals..
And I'm sorry I'm getting angrier by the minute about your lack of support there:(
Would it help if you explained the struggle your having right now to her?

Yummy, yummy, yummy!!! The Gordon's New Skillet Crisp Tilapia is delicious!! I ate one yesterday with canned spinach on the side with approx 1 Tb of Tarter Sauce. I ate is slow & consumed a whole one. I really enjoyed it. It's light breading that is delightful, lol, really. Anyone else tried them? I got the Garlic Herb. I'm not big on Lemon flavored fish. :-) I'll be 2mos post-op in two days!

I ate the non-breaded ones during my soft food weeks. They are a great go to though when you haven't planned something else for dinner. And I agree, they are super yummy!

You do realize that not everyone was told everything YOU were told, I hope! Surgeons are as different as night and day sometimes. You give the example of drinking from a straw...I am allowed to drink from a straw. I asked. That's just one example. Some surgeons do not see a problem with carbonation in moderation. I highly doubt your surgeon and NUT are the messiahs of VSG. No one's are.
Also, maybe you had brain surgery while they were doing your VSG and all of your bad habits that got you to where you were magically disappeared after surgery. We aren't cured. Sometimes people slip into bad habits for a moment. I didn't lose my humanity when I had surgery. I am still a work in progress and always will be. I didn't eat popcorn a week out- I followed the phases religiously. But, *gasp* I have eaten carbs and horror of horrors, drank out of a straw. I have still managed to lose 95 lbs. Go figure.
    I really don't like holier-than-thou's...

Hello all! I have a desk job. I'm sitting at the computer practically all day. I also recently decided not to join the gym right now due to paying bills!! lol...So, I just want to share with you how I overcome my obstacle of having a sedentary job. I get two 15min breaks. I put on my 5lb ankle weights & walk on breaks. I use dumb bells & do arm exercises while sitting. I also use a "thigh master" thingy while I'm sitting at my desk. I've found ways to get exercise at work. There's no excuse for me! :-) Maybe this will motivate some or give some a few ideas. I'll join the gym eventually cause I will be using the pool & I love exercise classes but not yet. Best of luck everyone.

I'm just a little past 6wks out, and I too believe that what is best FOR ME is to learn & pay attention to my own body to see what it wants, likes, and also needs. I eat what feels good/goes down well but try to make the best nutritional choices. I thought one day I would try the Doritos Locos Supreme Taco & it went down great...the whole thing! I enjoyed every bite. Yummy! For the record, I think the original is better than the Cool Ranch, LOL. Anyway, I love eating Wendy's chili, and I like it sweet, so I put splenda in it. Before I had surgery, I prayed (seriously, I did) "God please let me be one of the people that can tolerate almost anything", and he answered my prayers. Yes, I've not tried Pasta, bread, or rice yet, so the jury is still out on that. I do well with veggies (only tried canned & also fresh lettuce & spinach), fresh fruit, chicken, beef, pork (sausage), Beans, low fat tortillas, crunchy tacos, eggs, well...you get the point. Right now I'm craving a low fat frozen yogurt smoothie. I just need to count my coins, lol. Best wishes to all of you. Enjoy this journey & live....LIVE...LOVE...LAUGH...ENJOY. LIfe is truly a gift from God above. He wants us to enjoy it.

** and I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY encourage people to try Water aerobics, several sleeve friends have had a LOT of success with it, getting back into shape. Easier on the joints and just as good if not better than most land workouts!!! Great cardio and good or tightening up skin as you go!!!

Before I had this surgery I was worried about loose skin and not having any muscle tone after the surgery. Well I am proud to say that I am a year out of surgery and I don’t have any loose skin. I have always lifted weights and wanted continue after I had my surgery. I am going to be honest when I got back in the gym after surgery I was extremely weak, in college I could bench about 475 lbs., when I got back in the gym I could barely bench 145 lbs. I stuck to it and now I am up to 375 lbs., I work out 4 days a week and I swim 3 say a week. I don’t run or walk because of the stress on my knees, I think once I get to my target weight I will start to run. Just recently I have noticed that I have gained 15 lbs. but my waist and my shirt size has reduced by 3 sizes. At first I was frustrated about the weight gain but I was told that I am gaining muscle mass and it is much heavier than fat. I think I am going to add more cardio to my routine so I can get to my target weight then I will continue my weight regimen. I am so glad I decided to have this surgery..it has really changed my life!!!

Then use lighter weights until it gets easier. The reason why because as u get older you will not be able to push ya self as hard with these cardio workouts So u regain weight. With weights u build muscle and muscle always burns more calories...
    To maximize weightloss try this:
Use freeweights first, then jump into your classes and watch the weight melt away like butter in the microwave.

After 3 weeks of being sleeved, especially if you have a lot to lose, start going to the gym IMMEDIATELY. You DON'T have to start cardio but you DHOULD start a weight training regimen. This will greatly assist in the saggy and loose skin problem. TRUST ME. As a trainer, one of my clients is 44 years old and weighed 402 lbs. He had the sleeve almost a year and change now and I realized after losing all that weight he has little to no loose or saggy skin... He weighs 202 right now and looks like a trainer himself.
I understand some drs may tell u to wait a little longer but three weeks is the best time to start! Even if it's light training every bit helps because your body will notice it before you do.

I didn't starting losing right away either. I shrugged it off, cause I just firstly wanted to focus on my body feeling stronger/better & also I figured it might have been due to maybe still being swollen. It will come sure enough. Try to be encouraged when you think about the great things soon to come your way! congrats on a successful surgery. :-)
