what a wild ride this has been. this time last year, i was 5'6" and 373 pounds. i wore a 56" waist jeans and 5-6X shirt. i was sleeved on june 5, 2012 and now, 7.5 months later, sadly, i am sitll only 5'6", but now, i weighed in this morning at 196! i wear a 32" waist jeans and a 1X shirt. and yes that is a grand total of 177 pounds gone!
feeling kinda like a rockstar right now. only 10-20 pounds from goal.
this is most definately one of the coolest moments ever.
    life is good,
    love my sleeve.
much love to those of you that i have learned from, such as OTR and PDX and butterthebean, and many many others. you are all my heroes. keep it up all. there really is no limit on what can be done when you work the tools.

SSKay, 4 weeks post-op I was only able to eat 2 chicken wings and I had graduated beyond soft foods, but everyone is different. If you are eating enough to throw-up you might be eating too much or too fast.

Nicki, just measure out 1/3 or 1/2 cup and know that's all you're going to eat. You are probably full, but don't know it because your nerves are still healing. If you are drinking your fluids, there will be very little room for other things when it's meal time. Be kind to your new stomach, be kind to YOU!

Best thing I've ever done. If you're struggling with head hunger and your deep emotional connection to food, there's no shame in getting help. The truth is, you would have needed that with our without surgery.
Stay strong, you will be so thrilled with the results, I'm sure of it!

Im 15 months post op and down 226 pounds. My ONLY regret is that i did not get it done sooner. I can eat normal food now just not as much. This last year was the only time in my life that i had to buy new clothes because my old clothes are to big. Fist time i have seen the number on the scale go down and not go back up.First time that i feel that i am not just existing but actually living. It has been a hard road but i would not change anything that has happend. Good luck and stay positive. PM me if u have any questions.

I HAVE to have blood removed once every 3 weeks (due to an Iron overload condition) and feel fine afterwards. I would imagine if your pulse, temp, BP, blood sugars are all fine - it shouldn't be a problem at all. That's a new one!

VSGKirk got a reaction from RWHIT43 in NEW TO ALL THIS
    Hi RWHIT43,
I decided to pursue WLS because I felt like crud all-the-time. It effected me physically and emotionally and ruining my relationships all around me. It really felt like I was committing suicide very slowly.
The instant I made the decision to move forward with surgery, it was like a million ton rock lifted off of me and for the first time I had hope.
Best decision I've made for myself probably ever!
    Thanks,
    Kirk

I don't have any sage advice for you. I'd be scared too! Surgery=Scary, Surgery so far away from home=Really scary!
Hopefully if you have internet access you can at least come on here and be reassured by the hundreds of people who have had very positive experiences with WLS in Mexico. Perhaps you'll connect with other patients while there.
Be strong - you'll be so happy and proud of yourself on the other side of surgery!

...Mexican Food! (But not my hot dish of a latino partner of 9 yrs)
It's true. Thought it was time to take the true test and take my beloved out for a belated VD dinner. This was going to be a make or break moment for me. For Mexican food was my passionate lover for many years.
Sat down, ate 5 tortilla chips. In my pre-op days, that would have been 2 baskets (at least). Ordered a chicken enchilada expecting explosions of warm waves to course through my body...not so much... It tasted a little like dish soap to me.
The love affair is over and I've moved on!
    Thanks for listening

VSGKirk got a reaction from Shellid in Stress...wow...What a difference a few months makes!
Don't know where to really share this, so I figured I'd share it in the forum of "my people"...
I have a very stressful job and have to spend the work week away from home. Many many night pre-op, after a stressful day, I couldn't get to a mexican food place or Taco Bell fast enough. My typical order would be a 2 lb carne asada burrito with EVERYTHING and chips. At Taco Bell, it would be their new XXL Steak nachos, and of course since I would starve on the 5 minute drive home, I'd always have to get an extra burrito or taco to get me started. I was like a drug addict or alcoholic who couldn't wait to get home so I had to start "using" in the car!
    Fast forward a few months...
Work, more stressful than ever. Being away from home, sucks a** big-time. The difference? I bee-line home and log onto VST to see what I've missed throughout the day. I interact with some really fantastic folks who "get" me. I make plans for the future. I look forward to the future.
And oh yeah, if I remember... I go over to the fridge and pull out a greek yogurt and feel completely satisfied.
    Thanks you guys, seriously!
