Protein Drinks
I agree with Pdx Man, premier protein shakes at Costco and Amazon.com. are the best I have tried so far, and I tried a lot of powder ones my first two weeks. I like to put in freezer until just a little icy:)
-
Protein bars
I also eat the pure protein bars. The mint, and peanutbutter ones are good.

protein bar or shake at night?
I do a pure protein bar once in a while when I'm craving something sweet. I eat half slowly and it seems to cure my sweet tooth plus get the added bonus of protein:)

No Drinking with Meals!
Everything you just read is spot on, don't fret over all the stuff you can't do. Think positive about how great it will feel when all the pounds start melting away:)

Mexico drs = NO diet pre op?
I was only on a 1200 cal diet for a few months before surgery, told to lose 20# which I did. This softened my liver and I was good to go, plus being on a good healthy diet prepped me for after surgery. No clear or full liquids before surgery, just a light meal for dinner, and NPO after midnight. I asked my Dr why so many Drs were diff. He just said diff perceptions. He said by morning your food is out of stomach, so that's not the prob.

Ethnic foods
Everyone in our class was told no rice, Pasta, bread, ever! But I'm finding thats not to true.

This past i been very Hungry -__-
Gosh I thought maybe it was just me. Nice to hear someone else having this problem. I am 9 weeks out, and I am so hungry at certain times of the day. Sometimes it goes away, othertimes it makes me want to snack:( Late at night its been hitting also. I do try and just have a popsicle. Wonder why some people aren't hungry at all?

Ethnic foods
I love ethnic food to. I make curry chicken, chicken mole, Thai, etc. The only thing I miss is having the rice along with it, or pad noodles:( I've only had a few tiny nibbled of rice, cause my Nut says never again to it. But when I talk to others who have been sleeved they eat it. Sometimes its very confusing with so many different Nut and Drs, all saying different things. As long as you can handle the spices you can still eat your ethnic foods. I find since surgery with me is that I like all my food more spicier than before:)

I dont feel full?
Probably because its liquid.liquids usually slide through the sleeve much easier than solid food. When you start regular food you will get full much quicker.

Worried about the restriction.
Each day gets a little easier, just take it slow.Don't worry about to much or your protein shakes, just try and stay hydrated. Sip, sip, sip, like all day pretty much. I was around two weeks and finally could drink fluids a little like normal. Not chugging but not sipping either. As far as sounds you will have lots of tha, especially when you start soft foods Totally normal now. My Dr says its cause all the air we take in when we eat and drink . Our stomachs only want food no extra room for air. Hence all the gurggles.

15 Days out and I've only lost 10lbs.
This for sure isn't the miracle cure. It's still up to each one of us to use this surgery to our advantage. It will always be work, just follow all your nutritional needs and excersise and you will melt away:)

Purging my closet again - anxiety
I just purged my closet for the third yesterday! Only because the first two times I thought the same thing, maybe I will need it someday or its one of my faves. So I started trying everything on and realized its still way to big. I to have been shoppjng at the thrift stores, cause I can't stand to wear baggy pants. I also shop every clearance rack at Target and Walmart, just for a few items a month

Broke my stall, decided to weigh in only once a week
I decided the same thing:) its weird, I weigh the same all week then on day seven, I'm a few pounds less. So definitely gonna try only weighing in once a week.
-
7 weeks post-op and only -22 pounds :(
I agree with Shyv, you would never be able to lose on normal diet. Don't get on scale for awhile and keep on doing what you've been doing, it will keep coming off. I am 9 weeks and down 30# since surgery, and only losing about 1# a week. I am down from an 18 to a 12 so I'm happy with that:)

Imitation crab meat! any ideas/suggestions.
I make crab salad mix little mayo, chopped onion, celery, and olives. I eat with crackers and lemons

Soo constipated!
If really bad try dulcolax, works fast and good, but may cause some cramping. Just don't rely on it all the time.
-
My official BEFORE.
Congrats on your sleeve, hope your feeling good:)
-
how many pounds at 5 weeks?
Your on the lower part of scale, so maybe not as fast as others. I was down about 25 # at 5 weeks. I am 9 weeks now and down about 5 more #. It's slow now. I am losing only 1 - 1/2# a week. Just depends.

7 Months Post Op- Before & After Pics
Love the Victoria secrets bag in background:) You look really good. How much do you lose per week now?
-
15 Days out and I've only lost 10lbs.
Yes but you are on the lower part of the scale. I had only lost 13# two weeks out. You have to take into consideration what people weigh. Someone that's 300# is gonna lose more and faster than someone who is 200#. I'm nine weeks out and have lost about 30# post surgery, but I am only losing like a # a week now. And I only eat between 600-800 cal. Don't worry it will come off:)

Blood work?
W hen have most of you had your first bloodwork done? I am 9 weeks and haven't had any yet. I am curious to know how I'm doing with my vitamins.
