Might be a nice time for a moderator to jump in. I don't think it's appropriate for someone who hasn't even had VSG (and who isn't planning on it) who is in attack mode against people who had the surgery to be allowed to continue posting here. Since I started this thread--which did start as super positive and was meant for support--I felt it was appropriate that I report momto6ix when she started spewing her hatred and ignorance. However, that was about a week ago, and I have not received a response. It's one thing to disagree, but if someone wants to come here and take out her relationship problems on others, I really don't think that it's fair, nor is it the goal of a WLS support site. I would encourage others who are disturbed by these rants to report her as well. I'm sure the moderators are busy--and I appreciate that they offer this site. Perhaps that will get their attention.

momto6ix is just trying to rev everybody up. She probably enjoys the drama. If she were truly seeking understanding she would listen more and insult less. Nobody needs to explain any further why WLS is necessary or not. What's the point? She doesn't want to hear your opinion, she merely wants to see her own opinion repeated back to her.

Who's not taking responsibility for their weight? Why are you even on this site? Maybe someone will leak this to your husband so he can see how you truly feel about WLS patients. Your extremely disrespectful and rude. It seems like you don't have much going on in your world that you need to keep coming on a WLS site and try pushing everyone's buttons. Again, what you see as blunt and honest I see as tiresome and redundant. I'll report you if you continue to insult all of us. It's mean and unnecessary. You are offering absolutely NO support or anything constructive.

The people who sat this is the easy way have never been to the place we are at. I also used to say I would never let myself get to the point I was. The "easy" thing to do is say that we are all lazy with no self control, that a basic diet will fix us - after all if fixes people who only have 30 pounds to lose!
We have different body chemistry and different brain chemistry, if we didn't we would not be in our starting conditions. We eat like "normal" people yet we are at least 100 pounds overweight.
This is not the easy way out!!! It is scary and brutal. Recovery is difficult, but I have not for one second thought I made the wrong decision. I proud I myself and all of us for taking control of our lives. Nobody will diminish that by saying I could have dieted all on my own and that I wasted my money.

You are quite the ass - to put it as nicely as I possibly can. You assume that everyone who is overweight eats like a horse. You have such a horrible perception of obesity. People gain weight for a variety of reasons, some are involved in accidents that cause them not be active, some have other diseases that the medications given actually cause weight gain, and many contrary to your simple minded beliefs actually have ruined their metabolisms with yo- yo dieting. Obesity is a disease, not a choice and for many a death sentence if not corrected.
Do you honestly believe that people go through this hell just because they don't want to diet anymore? I honestly feel sorry for Rick he is probably raking leaves not to hear you run your mouth.
You want a Protein suggestion for him - mini meatballs. Just don't put sugar in them.

Back to the subject of Oprah.. Oprah has private chefs personal trainers the best of it all. If that is all it takes, why does she still have a weight problem. Sure she loses weight - but how many times with all those benefits has she gained it back. Her YO-YO diet life is proof that diets don't always work. So is she lazy or fat by choice too?

One more Rant and then I'm done. Have you ever noticed that the people who say this is the "Easy way out" are people who have never done it? Easy to judge from the sidelines. I wish Oprah would have done it. We would be getting a whole lot more respect or at least understanding. Note: A closed mind has no room to grow! My very best to all my fellow sleevers. You dared to take the risk to improve the quality of your lives and that takes great courage. Wether you achieve your weight loss goals or not, you have already overcome so much to get to this point. Don't allow anyone to drag you back down! You are AWESOME!!

It is truly a shame that momto6ix believes she is the only one allowed to be "blunt and honest" while ALL of the rest of us are just "mean and defensive". I believe the purpose of this site is that it is to be used as an online support group for those of us who have had the courage to take such a drastic measure to heal ourselves. It should not be a place for someone who has never walked in our shoes to come ask for our advice and then disrespect what we have to say!

Being quite honest myself.... I did say that the surgery is only a tool and only as good as it is used correctly. The amount you can eat does change as time goes by- but you can stuff yourself little by little and force it to stretch also. And I said it takes time for your brain to catch up with your body, you can have "head hunger" you smell food you like you think you are hungry. But also you can cause some hunger by not eating proper amounts of protien and not following your diet plan correctly. And nothing is 100% effective with 100% of the people.
You seem to be looking for examples to prove your point to him, not to find example that explain the surgery or the benefits of it. You seem to have a very distinct distain for "fat" people. Despite your inabillity to accept that obsesity is a real disease and can not be an easy fix for everyone is like saying well your diabetic so eat less sugar and it will go away, because it does for some people. Well yes it does help some people - but many many more are required to take medications thier whole life. Science doesn't know why diet alone will cure some people and not others, just like dieting alone will be effective in some cases but not all. If you took the time to do actual research on obesity you would find there are many reasons why dieting does not work for everyone. But I don't honestly believe you want to know this.
Maybe you should see someone about your obvious problem dealing with your husbands surgery, whether it be he spent IRA money on something so frivolous as trying to save his life or whether you are so scared of how your life will change you can not or will not be supportive. The problem is yours - he did take a drastic step trying to do what is best to save his life, that takes a lot of courage. If my significant other treated me with that much distain I would have to seriously examine my relationship. If you love someone you support them completely- PERIOD. Just being honest.

It's official!....I no longer need to shop at Lane Bryant! I was in Nordstrom Rack today with a friend and where do I head as soon as I walk in the door - PLUS SIZES! And then I picked out about 10 tops in a 1x...my friend kept telling me - you are NOT a plus size anymore! But in my mind I still am (was) and I took the clothes to the dressing room. YEP - they were all too big! And shockingly not just by a little! I was shocked and very surprised! Do you mean to tell me that I can go back to looking and shopping in "regular" stores! Talk about a great day and incredible NSV!!!!! Wwwoooooooo-hooooooooo!

I have lovingly named my pouch Marvin...the martian. He is quite alien to me and were still working out this whole communication thing. I can't tell if he's hungry...full...or what he wants because I dont know his language yet but were working on it. Nan-nu Nan-nu.
