  1. I had my EGD today. I had one 1 1/2 years ago due to abdominal pain, nausea and severe anemia (which required multiple IV Iron infusions). At that time, I had mild gastritis, mild esophagitis and a hiatal hernia. Today, the esophagitis was the same, but the gastritis is now level B (was A before - D is the worst) even though I've been taking my PPI. They also found stomach polyps and biopsied them. I had never even heard of stomach polyps before someone on here posted that they had been found on her EGD last week. I know I'm probably over-reacting, but I'm scared. I'm not even sure I should get the surgery since my "parts" aren't healthy like I'd hoped. GI doctor doesn't seem too keen on me having surgery - but I think he may be just against it in general. All my other doctors are for it (of course, they don't know the EGD results yet). BTW - I have been planning on getting the sleeve even with the GERD because of my RA and need for NSAIDs and steroids. Please let me know what you think Thanks, Bree
  2. Getting my EGD in the morning. Not required by my surgeon - but I insisted
  3. It's possible the pain in your clavicles could be gout due to the high protein diet they recommend for us. I hope your doctor is able to determine the cause of your pain and help you get some relief!
  4. I hope and trust everything went great today!
  5. I have to lose 10% and never though I could do it (have never lost that much in my many attempts at weight watchers). I am less than two months into it and have lost 16 of the 25 pounds I need to lose. The biggest difference for me has been to incorporate two bottles of muscle milk into my daily regimen and keep calories around 1000 to 1200 per day. The protein in the shakes has really helped with my hunger. I've also been swimming some - but not a lot. Good luck!
  6. That's wonderful - what an accomplishment Congratulations!!!
  7. I had an incisional/umbilical hernia from a gall bladder surgery a couple of years ago. The lump was in my belly button, was soft, and I could push it completely back in (although it was very painful to do so).
  8. I looks like I will be having surgery sometime during the week of November 16th. I need two more surgeon visits, sleep study, psych eval - and that's it! This has been a long process for me as I had my first surgeon appointment January 2013 - but was just not psychologically ready to make the decision back then. Now, I am completely sure this is the right thing. Feeling hopeful.
  9. @@JustWatchMe I'm on Humira (along with Mobic, sulfasalazine, plaquenil). Couldn't tolerate methotrexate - ended up with high liver enzymes. Humira has been a God send - but I still need NSAIDs on a daily basis. I developed bleeding last summer from ibuprofen - but I was taking a LOT. Also take a lot of tylenol :/
  10. Kandis - I have not had surgery yet, so I don't know what you're going through or how to help - but I have had problems with depression my whole life and your post really touched me and made me wish I could help. I'll be thinking about you and praying for you - and I'm sure you'll get lots of great advice from the wonderful people on this site. Take care and God bless.
  11. I just googled nabumatone. I have had this prescribed to me in the past under the brand name relafen for my RA. Apparently, this particular NSAID is less likely to cause GI side effects than other NSAIDs because it doesn't promote acid production. Sounds like it may be a good option for "sleevers." I will talk to my doc about this too.
  12. I'm continuing to keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
  13. Am I the only one not getting pop ups on the iPhone app for bariatric pal? (Not that I'm complaining)
  14. @@Rogofulm - thanks for sharing this article!
  15. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with your prescription, but beta blockers are sometimes used for anxiety
  16. It means "original poster" (the person who started the thread).
  17. How much Aleve do you take, if I may ask? This is the single most frightening thing about upcoming surgery for me - to discontinue ibuprofen.
  18. I agree with @jnfisher. My doctor's office said they go with initial BMI - and the more weight you lose - the better surgery will go. However, everyone's insurance is different - and if I were you, I'd check with my insurance regarding their policy On this just to give you peace of mind (I wouldn't rely only on the statements of the office staff).
  19. I still stick by my previous post where I said there are some demeaning, rude and hurtful comments that are sometimes (rarely) posted on this site. That having been said, I completely agree with VSGAnn2014 in this case. There were quite a few responses to Scared and all of them were considerate and helpful (IMHO). Just my two cents worth
  20. @@gmanbat - what a wonderful, informative post!
  21. Sorry to continue the thread highjack, but Gmanbat - I thought you might like a little story. I'm a veterinarian, and last summer I was pulling up vaccinations to go into a room with a puppy. I kept hearing a strange "chirruping" noise, and I thought it must be a strange ringtone. I kept hearing when I got into the room, and the owner's of the puppy acted like they didn't hear it. I finally asked what the heck that noise was, and the wife pulled a sugar glider out of her large purse - she couldn't bear to leave it home alone
  22. I'm no expert, and I haven't had surgery yet - but it sounds to me like you may have a stricture. I would talk to my doctor about having an upper GI or an EGD
  23. You will never be useless here - you're experiences and sweet disposition will always been needed!
