Bump Beneath Incision Hernia?

I'm 9 months post-op and I've recently noticed that the incision above my belly button has a hard bump beneath. It's not protruding out, but when touched the bump is very noticeable.

I'm really hoping this isn't an incisional hernia. Anyone else have this issue?

  • Best thing to do would be to see your surgeon ... but, soft is probably a hernia and hard might be a reaction to sutures. Or, it could be neither of those, and that's why it would be best to see a doc

I had an incisional/umbilical hernia from a gall bladder surgery a couple of years ago. The lump was in my belly button, was soft, and I could push it completely back in (although it was very painful to do so).
