I would give their office a call or the NP and ask why they want you to take it. Is it part of their protocol or for some other reason? I would think an explanation is in order if for no other reason

I don't even have a prescription for it. Apparently cardiologist ordered it? I didn't ask for anxiety meds and have never ever taken them before. I put a call into the office. Thank God I have 19

Okay got the call for preauthorization from the hospital for my surgery. They informed me that the cardiologist ordered me to take Atenolol the day of surgery and 2 days after surgery. I am seriously afraid of that. I had perfect EKG, perfect ECHO, and my blood pressure is 120/70 on a good day maybe 110/60 even. Why do I need to take a beta blocker?? Is this common practice?? IM REALLY SCARED!!!
