I was on my period during surgery. I was required to take everything off. No pads or tampons during surgery. You lay on that blue puppy training pad thingy. You wake up with hospital panties and a pad on.
They are medical professionals. They've dealt with menstruation a lot. it's a big deal to you, a no brainier to them

I was hours away from having my gall bladder removed because I showed similar symptoms and had WLS. Dr's assistant tried to make me feel silly for questioning the need. Dr told me non surgical options for treating bad gall bladder. A HIDA test was recommended and it proved my GB was functioning at. 99%. Unnecessary surgery avoided.
Be your own advocate!! Ask questions. If the Dr makes you feel silly by asking then you gave the wrong doctor

I'm 5'9, starting weight 233, goal weight 140. My Dr. was fine with that. I know it's an ambitious goal, but I didn't go through this surgery to be just ok with a weight. I need to give this my all!! Power to the Amazon Ladies!!

I did my first triathalon (sprint 400m swim, 12 mile bike, 3 mile run)Sunday. So proud of my self it would have been easy to talk myself out of doing this in the past. Too Cold 52 degrees and wind gust 20mph +, lake temperature 65degrees. I did not talk myself out of it, completed it non stop and finished 4th in my age class 64th overall. Finished in 1:32 need to work on my run and transitions but overall very pleased with these results. More to come...

Selfie in my size 4 skinny jeans... Even with compression garment I needed a belt on.
I'm 2 weeks postop today. Still have swelling in the middle of my abdomen. It's weird looking to me. Like my top & bottom don't match. The pannus is flat. The top is not completely flat but then this spare tire like thing in the middle. It has gone down a lot in 2 weeks but it still is ugly IMO
my incisions looks great in some spots. Pretty horrific in others. 2 in particular look like the Dr may need to address them with a suture or 2 at a later date.
The holes where the drains were are now completely closed. I'm a take a bath more than take a shower person so that's good news for me.
I still ache in 2 spots. Right at my hip bones. Not sure what that's about since the incisions aren't right there. Maybe that's where they did the tugging and pulling.
    Gonna take undie pics shortly

I am a Toyota guy and lately I've been seeing some ads for the new 2014 Corolla and so as a gift to myself and having lost 111 pounds now... I decided that a new body should come with a new car. So I replaced my 2005 Corolla with a 2014 Corolla.
And she's AWESOME. And because I'm totally worth it.

There are sick people who join sites and pretend to have the same issues and then spin really unbelievable stories; then feel great when people believe them.
It's very common on pregnancy boards.
It's also common on boards for people dealing with infidelity in a marriage. I've seen a few posts that made me go "huuuuh????" on here.

I'm 67.5 inches. I am 145 pounds. That's where my body stays with no effort.
I can afford to gain 10 pounds with no worries.
My Dr's goal was 65% EWL which means I would've been still overweight
I will say that there is no way i would have surgery to remain overweight. 28 BMI is still overweight.

It's amazing how people change when you take charge of your own health and lose a bunch of weight.
Some of it is genuine concern. Some jealousy. Some folks are just busy bodies and need to have something to say and that's usually to keep the focus off themselves.
I'm tired of going to funerals for my people when they could've prevented death by eating better or losing weight. Diabetes & HBP runs rampant in the AA community. WLS will save more of our lives than gun control. A sad but realistic fact. So go on and cheat death. Lose that weight. Get active. Eat better. Get off those meds. Lose that insulin.
    I'm praying for you all
My highest weight was 282. I had surgery August 2012 squeezing into size 20/22
I weighed 142 pounds this morning. I wear a size 4. I'm running, bike riding, swimming, lifting weights and just living life
I gained a few wrinkles in my face because I lost fat there. I'd rather have a few wrinkles than be unhealthy.

Hi. My name is Jeremiah. I have always struggled with my weight just like everyone here. When I started my sleeve journey, I weighed in at 491. With the south beach diet that my surgeon insisted I go on, I was able to lose 73 pounds prior to surgery. I had surgery on 3/12/14 and weighed 418 lbs. At my one will follow up appointment I had lost 16 pounds in the right days after surgery. Got on the scale today and lost another seven pounds. Brings my total weight to 96 lbs so far since the end of November. I also got below 400 lbs for the first time in 10-11 years. But what I enjoy most are the little things I'm noticing like being able to pull my socks ask the way up and not bunching them around my ankles. Being able to wear a tie and wear it properly. Feeling the way my clothes are fitting. I am so looking forward to this summer when me and my kids can go on a bike ride. I have never been able to do that. Please consider the little things and Celebrate them. Remember them when your day is not going as planned. I look forward to getting to know and support some of you as we go through this journey together.

Congrats!! I refuse to take morphine because of the hallucinations. But I doubt if the Oxy would be enough of a relief after the surgery you've had. Glad you're feeling better.
Do you still have drains?? I was so glad to get mine out yesterday.
How's the swelling? Have you looked at your incisions? I think the compression garment wu become more tolerable once you start healing more. My stitches were itching bad yesterday and I wanted to burn the garment. Today it isn't bad.
Hope things continue to get better for you

For the itching, you could try applying an ice pack to the area. If you're out and about or don't have the option of ice, try slapping the area lightly (or moderately) instead of scratching. Those things have worked for me in the past.

As a Vet, (hint hint I am ALWAYS cold also!!! I was always an extremely hot natured person prior to WLS (or at least I thought so!) I am not so much tired, although I can tell a HUGE difference when I allow myself to eat more "junk" and not cleanly.
