How Many LapBand Surgeries is enough for you?
My dr. and his partner have done over 2,000 lapbands with minimal (like.02%) complications. That number satisfied me. That being said, I agree that it's also important to get a feel for the office. Also, remember that the more patients, the busier the office. Good luck to you. Rainer

Would You Wear a Mini-skirt?
At 6ft tall, I think I would scare most folks away...I always fear that I will look like a dude dressed as a woman. Oh, and Jachut..mutton dressed as lamb is one of my FAVORite expressions. too funny. I don't really wear skirts as my thighs rub...ow's that for sexy? Rain

Banded April 11. Eating Question
you should follow your post op diet to the letter. There are many indications that not following your post op diet can lead to slippage. Strain the soup and just eat the broth...the same yummy taste will be there without the solids. Also, many blend soups...but I didn't per drs. orders...well, the nutritionist anyway...it's only a short time...you will get through it. Be firm and don't eat what you are not supposed to! Rain

Anyone use fake plants/flowers outdoors?
I live in a very deer populated area...and they eat EVERYTHING except dafodills and peonies... There are a number of folks in our neighborhood who put out plastic plants...and there is no way anyone notices...they look gorgeous! I don't put anything out because I can't be bothered with worrying aobut the stinking deer. Go for it! If you hate them this year, then you'll buy fresh again, next year. Rainer

Anyone notice a difference on how you are treated once you start losing weight?
I voted No... Honestly, the difference I see is within myself... I am more open to others, more friendly etc. There have been very few instances where I've been treated poorly and it was obviously because of my weight. I think if I am treated poorly it is because I am not always super nice either. Also, I think a lot of that is because I am tall and tall people usually demand respect because of our visibility. Additionally, I'm pretty stinking funny...so that usually helps as well!!! So...I think I'm in charge (for the most part) of how people treat me. Because I feel better about myself, I am certainly more open to new people. Just my thoughts...take em or leave em! Rainer

140 lbs!?!?!?!
Well, I don't necessarily want to be a rail, but I didn't have an operation without thinking that I would get into a healthy body shape. And, whether we like it or not :rolleyes2: that is usually pretty thin. Any weight we lose is making life better for our bodies, but if you can to an ideal weight, you will increase your life expectancy exponentially. As the mom of three little girls...and as the daughter of two people who died in their 50s(both died of lung cancer)...increased life expectancy is my goal. But...do I ever expect to be rail thin? No...but I'm giving one hell of a go at it! Best of luck! Rainer

clothes don't fit like they used to?
It's hard for me to say since I've had three kids since I was last this weight...oh, and I'm at least 10 years older...but yes...my clothing fits differently now. But...I think that is pretty normal...because i fyou were to gain 50lbs back, you would probably gain it differently than it sat on you this time... Perhaps it is a conspiracy from the retailers to make us purchase all new clothing!!!! :rolleyes2: Rainer

140 lbs!?!?!?!
Hello! I have to lose 158 to be at a healthy BMI (the high end of the scale...) That'll put me at 183lbs. It was daunting at first..then I felt like I could do it without a problem...and right now, it is kind of daunting again. I just hit the 100lbs mark and I still have so much to go and still can't fit in cute clothing... But I think this wave of feelings is pretty normal. I have to admit, those first 100 lbs came off relatively hunger free and therefore where easier than an weight I have ever lost before. And I feel totally different at 100lbs lighter than I did at 338. When I think that 338 wasn't even my highest...I was 360 while pregnant with my twins... I can't imagine how I felt then...Well, I kind of remember and my body hurts just thinking about it. You can do it...so can I... Best of luck, Rainer

a bit of a whine...on the day I hit 100 lbs down...
Guys, I've lost 100 pounds as of today. I feel fabulous and wonderful...and yet I am still fat. I went shopping yesterday and I still don't fit into a 16. I still can't fit into the regular clothing at Macy's or L and T. It's kind of disheartening. Well...it's really disheartening. I still have another 58 lbs to lose to get to a healthy BMI. It may as well be another person. I feel as though I will NEVER get there. I know I've lost 100lbs...and that is a HUGE milestone, but there is still so much more for me to lose, I feel like I have no control over it all. On the upside--I don't think I've been this weight since at least HS...maybe even junior high. That's kind of cool!! Any thoughts? Rain

Who are you after the weight is gone?
BooBoo, I completely get it. I'm not at goal yet, but I have a feeling that I will feel the same when I get there. I was always the fat sister/friend. I was the fat funny sister/friend. Now I am the overweight sister...overweight is closer to thin than fat (well, the fat I was...)...but I still feel like the fat sister. But then sometimes I don't and then something brings me right back to it. Like not fitting in clothing, or someone telling me to choose a different chair because the one I was about to sit it is relegated to children. I feel different around my husband...for many reasons...mostly they are good changes...but not always. I can't put it into words...but I get it! Rain

American Idol '08
I really liked Jason Castro tonight..I just cannot stand David A...I put my kids to bed early so as to not be near children for some part of my day...and then they go and put one on AI...not fair! As I've said before, Syesha is so stinking beautiful...but not my favorite singer...she's only ok. Brooke sang that song really well, but you could see her shaking up there...they've destroyed her confidence. Carly sounded terrific last night...I know people don't like her, but I think her voice is phenominal. I hate the nodding thank you David Cook does...so pretentious... and Kristie has lost my favor after her antics two weeks ago with the seat thing...spoil sport. My vote is syesha for tonight...

Don't mother's hold their babies anymore?
JAchut... It seems as though are breasts are similar in their elasticity. My boobs, between nursing my oldest for 15 months and the twins for 20 months, are the most pathetic nasty looking things in the world. They are like an accordian when I lay on my side...they fold into themselves. UGGGHHHH!!! But..my nasty tits are proof that I love my children the most! Rain

But, I must thank you...I've had that song in my head all day...and today, complete with vomit on my shirt from my 4 year old and conjunctivitis in both eyes, I am anything but "one hot mama" Booboo kitty, now she is certainly one hot mama! Don't mother's hold their babies anymore?
Georgia Girl... I'm so nervous about living in a 2 bedroom home with my three kids, but we'll be able to live off of dh's salary alone...and we'll pack away whatever extra money we make (I tutor a few nights a week after they go to bed and he teaches adult ed courses and writes grants). It's stressful...but the girls are all little and we'll hopefully be able to find our way in this tiny house. There is, blessedly, a basement...so we will have a room to use as a playroom thereby eliminating the toys from the whole little tiny house. Any tips to share? Thanks, Rain

Don't mother's hold their babies anymore?
Also a sahm who is neither rich nor on subsidy. My husband is a teacher and we are in the process of selling our very nice home so we can rent a small cottage for a few years. This will ease our monthly bills and allow me to stay home. Please consider what you are saying before you post such judgemental crap! Rain

I have a complaint!
Denise... My Mil is the same... She lived with us for a while and my girls picked up some bad grammatical habits. I have since retrained them! ex.. Put them bottles in the fridgerator. We stood (instead of stayed) at the party for 2 hours. You don't got no candy? AAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Rain
