  1. Good for you for taking care of yourself! You look beautiful.
  2. I don't know why but ever since my surgery I can not drink plain Water. I used to drink a lot of it before but now it feels like it's harder to swallow. I drink lot's of other things as long as they are calorie and caffeine free it should be okay.
  3. . I dream that I am smoking. Wake up so upset and it takes a while to convince myself that it was just a dream. I quit 23 years ago!
  4. I would be interested in a BariatricPal online store (especially if members can rate products) Unjury protein powder, Balance Protein Bars. Hope to see a variety to choose from Samples to buy before committing to larger quantity would be nice.
  5. It gets better. I remember after the second month I felt much better.
  6. You'll hear that "easy way out" bull a lot. Don't let it bother you. Focus on how wonderful your life will be. Focus on all the things you will be able to do that you can't do now. It's like a rebirth of the person who has been lost in so many ways for so long (I'm talking about me now) Oh and guess what, the closer you get to goal...the less anything negative will bother you!! You don't care because you are just too damn happy & healthy!
  7. GERD was one of the reason I wanted the surgery. I take Omeprazole every morning and I feel great. If I forget to take it I suffer.
  8. I remember waking up nauseated and it would last for a few days then get better for a while then back again. This went on for a few months. Doctor said it was just something that happens with VSG . It will get better.
  9. I know that feeling!
  10. Nice article thank you. I've been trying to stay in the right mindset while working around everyone else. Not working very well.
  11. I have the same problem. Can eat very little fruit, mostly berries. I am almost 2 years out and I just started adding vegetables and salad back to my diet (but very small amounts)
  12. My first step is to start weighing myself daily again. That seems to work best for me. The next step is to come back to Bariatric Pal and become more active on the site. I usually just read but I will start posting (something that is not easy for me). Next will be get my food and Water on track. and last but not least get my exercise in every day (something, anything, just move) I really didn't think I would be back at the beginning again but here I am. The difference this time is that I know I can do it.
  13. I think I noticed it after about 8 months. I went from a 9 1/2 to an 8 - 81/2 depending on brand. It makes sense, you lose the Water, swelling and fat.
  14. Their fruit (blueberries, strawberries especially) seems to last twice a long as the supermarket'sInstant coffeeYogurt (before I became lactose intolerant) Tyson chicken tenders
  15. You have to grow a few layers of thick skin when you are an obese person. It comes in handy when you have weight loss surgery too. The prejudice and abuse that people seem to think is perfectly normal to hurl at the obese doesn't go away.
  16. Happy Surgiversay!! You look beautiful and HAPPY !!!
  17. When I am in my dream ( which is not often) I am thin. In real life, I have a hard time seeing myself smaller. I look in the mirror and I'm still large but I think I never realized just how large I actually was. Before and after pictures are a huge help to get things in perspective. I have to try on clothes before I buy because I just can't tell by looking at something if it will fit. Everything looks too small. Also, my body does not seem to be losing evenly so it's kind of strange how things fit.

  19. Did you get the exemption information in writing? You can call 5 times and get 5 different answers There should be health care advocates available to help you With my insurance the advocate information is listed on the back of the EOB (explanation of benefits they send you file a claim)
  20. Every time I've hit a stall I would get so frustrated but that was always the time people would ask if I lost weight. It just happened again the other day. At least six people in one day ( was a little weird) The scale was not moving but I had lost inches and my clothes were getting too big! So, don't be discouraged. The sleeve is working even if the numbers on the aren't reflecting that right now.
  21. My depression and anxiety got worse too I found a psychiatrist that takes my insurance and was able to get some help and adjust my medication . Some medications (I'm not suggesting that you stop taking your meds) can make you constantly want to eat. There are many doctors that work on a sliding scale (they charge depending on your income). Try checking different hospitals, they may be able to get you some free help . The fact that you are writing about it means you are ready for help. That's a great start. Best of luck to you.
  22. I would get hiccups when I was full. Now I get hiccups and a runny nose. Those are my signals to stop eating.
  23. Nice to know I have company! I've been waking up anywhere between 2:00 - 4:00 am every day for the past four years. I slept all night for the first week post op and then back to being up 2:00 - 4:00 am! It's strange how it's around the same time every night . I'm so tired!
