rocionelizalde got a reaction from ProudGrammy in Regret even after initial "omg, what have I done?"
I was sleeved on the 12/19 I have lost 23 pounds as of today. I cook everyday for my family now since I can't eat the food but at the same time it's great to see them happy.
I did the paleo diet for 1year lost 48 pounds I was weighing 286 at that time . I turned to the sleeve because the truth is my head hunger was stronger and found myself gaining the weight back.
I hate to see my husband eating alone but one day this is all going to be the best thing I have done!!! It's just to early in the game to be able to say it.
Remember this is only temporary torture and you will be able to eat again! Keep your head up it has to get better!!

I order Soup or off child/senior menu and get a doggy bag if needed. My son usually eats what I bring home. Nobody is so rude to ask me anything. My extended family just thinks I'm on one of my gazillion diets.. AGAIN, and never say anything

My hubby couldnt keep his hands off of me even at my highest weight (242) but now that Im losing (currently at 200) he chases me around even more. Good thing I can run faster now lol. He wants to take me shopping and buy me new clothes and is always telling me how good I look. Im 42, he's 50 (but a super fit sexy 50). I couldnt ask for a more supportive loving husband.

I love to eat still, and I'm super happy about it! Like JerseyGirl, I'm happy to finally be feeling satisfied, with healthier foods and smaller portions.
AngelaMarie, I eat every 2.5 to 3 hours, and I like it that way. It helps me stay energetic, satisfied, and keeps my metabolism up. I get lots of variety during the day, which helps keep me from snacking.
Of course, you have to ask yourself if you are eating just because you can, because you are thirsty, or because you are genuinely hungry.
Like SummersGirl, I find myself craving more salty than sweet, but I figure that's a good thing! I still enjoy dessert, but it's easier to stop eating it after a few bites.

So I am 4 weeks since I have been sleeved. I work for Caltrain in San Jose Ca we are randomly drug tested which we call the lottery. So today at work I had to test I couldn't pea so I started to drink Water in less then 30 minutes I drank over 32 ounces of Water Is that normal?? Why was I able to do that?? Do u think I hurt my sleeve?? Kind of surprised I was able to even consume that much water in such a short period of time
Please help kind of surprised and puzzled?? Since they say we should only drink 2 to 4 oz in 5 to 10 minutes

First of all 30 lbs in 7 weeks is great !! you are doing awesome !!! but below are the basics for you from my Doc, every Doc is different so others chime please
so here are the basic guide lines from my Doc
    1. at least 64 oz of Water daily
    2. Vitamins Daily
    3. no Water 30 min before or after eating
    4. eat Protein first at all meals .... I can usually eat about 2 oz at a meal , meals should take about 1/2 hour to 1 hour to finish so eat slowly and
    5. chew each bite 20 times . bites should be the size from a baby spoon I actually eat with a baby spoon....
    6. at least 60 grams of Protein daily
    7. after each bite wait a few minutes to see if you can recognize feeling full
once protein is consumed then you can try to eat maybe a small slice of fruit or veggies.
    8. you should not be able to eat more than 1/2 cup at any one sitting until after 6 or 8 months. unless eating a slider food ( i know some of mine ) yogurt is one of them
    9. I try to stay away from carbs but if I must satisfy my craving for crunch / carb I take 1/4 cup of Kashi go lean crunch ( its very very good ) and add it to my greek yogurt !! super yummy !! or 1/2 slice of toasted wheat bread
    10. do not graze have scheduled eating times
    example of mine
7am Breakfast , 11 am lunch, 3 snack, 6 dinner , 9 snack if needed for maxing my protein for the day or some prunes for other reasons
    11. join a support group it really really helps
    12. exercise daily
    hopefully this helps alittle.

rocionelizalde reacted to TheGamer in Should i be able to eat this?
For me I was always able to have more liquids, really with no feeling of restriction. It kind of went Water > shakes > mush > soft foods > solid foods in terms of how much I can have before I'm done. I can down a whole cup of tea like nobody's business, but I can only eat 2 or so ounces of chicken or fish before my body goes "woah, that's enough."
You'll find that as you move up to solid food, it takes less to get full.

Happy New Year!!!! I was sleeved on Dec 3, weighting 215. As of yesterday, 197! Yeaaaaaaaa, finally after ten years I see the one's again. Thanks to the sleeve, I have no regrets. My doctor said due to my low bmi I may lose slower, but thats good still. I am happy and thankful. Good luck everyone, may the new year bring, better health and prosperity!!!

Today I am 3 weeks out from my surgery I went to the doctor last week and he said I was healing just fine well this morning I was touching one of my stiches from the surgery and it felt kind of hard like a lump . I had my husband look at it he said every thing looks fine but it feels hard to me I am getting worried it is the scar on the right side . It does not look red or infected I do no know what is going on or am I worrying to much

Goodness, people certainly are taking this personally.
Contrary to what someone inferred, I'm not trying to belittle anyone. I'm genuinely flabbergasted by the behavior I've seen and trying to comprehend why it happens so often. It's probably the engineer in me, always trying to solve problems. I understand the temptations people have, I have them myself. I was stuck at a stoplight in front of a KFC today and my mouth was watering because I smelled the Colonel's secret recipe of eleven herbs and spices. I swear, that chicken smelled like the most delicious thing on the planet. My pre-op diet is kicking my ass and I know for sure the post-op diet will be even worse as my surgeon has an extremely conservative post-op regimen.
Cravings themselves are not the issue. I'm not criticizing anyone for having cravings or temptations, that would be incredibly hypocritical. I completely sympathize with folks who start threads looking for help because they're craving something. That's not what this is about. What I'm having difficulty understanding is this; why do people seek approval from what are basically complete strangers to violate their doctor's directives, when they know it's not in their best interest? It just doesn't make sense to me.
Quite frankly, I'm shocked that people are getting out the torches and pitchforks over this. Perhaps instead of lashing out at me because I touched a nerve, we should figure out why this happens so often and see what can be done about it? That would be support, wouldn't it?

Maybe its because you have only been here a couple of weeks, but your post ( in my opinion) is insensitive and judgemental... People who need this surgery are not typically good at staying on diets, or are yo yo dieters who sometimes fail when it comes to always doing the right thing. I am a professional dieter, but after my surgeon had me on Liquid Protein skakes for FIVE weeks, even commercials for McDonalds looked like gourmet cuisine...
I think some come here to vent, some come to be talked out of a temptation because this? ...Is a SUPPORT group...
To say that people are "lacking in common sense" because they may need help to stay on track is just ... mean.
I hope if you have a rough day and are tempted, that you get the support you need and are not belittled.
