Well, no one can make the decision for you and 27 years old is an adult so I would say, do your research and make YOUR decision. But I will say that I'm 49 years (young NOW) and I wish I had done it sooner.

Whenever someone asks me a question I don't care to answer, I simply say, "Now why in the world would you ask someone a question like that?" and then smile at them as if they were a total asshat, which of course, they are.

Hi, I am 5'4" and weighed 227 at the time of my surgery almost 8 months ago. I've lost 67 pounds since surgery. The first few weeks after surgery were trying. I was emotional and sometimes angry because I could smell the food around me but couldn't eat it. BUT after that I was able to start eating and everything changed. I eat like everyone else says (protein first, then vegetables and every so often, a little but of carbs). For me (and you'll find that a lot of the people on here say this) getting sleeved was the best thing I've ever done for myself. Good luck on your journey!

Consensus here seems to be that extended walking works the methane out. How and why I do not know, but I do know that it is better to fart and bare the shame than not to fart and bare the pain.

Chellemetime got a reaction from TwinsMama in Stories we tell...how do you not "lie" without saying you had WLS?
For me, it's different. I tell everyone that I had weight loss surgery and that it was the best thing I ever did for myself. Even everyone at work. They all see how hard I work at eating & drinking right and they see me stay away from the constant treats that are brought in from Consultants. I've gotten lots of compliments from them and lots of questions from other overweight people about the surgery. If me telling everyone helps some people decide to do it for themselves, I would feel really good about that since I feel it gave me a quality life back.

In the beginning I couldn't eat any sugar or fat or I would dump. Now I can handle a little sugar (like 2 bites of cake on a special occasion) but the fat is still a no go. No vinaigrette dressing, anything cooked in a crock pot, full fat anything, fried foods are completely out. Kinda keeps me in check though.

    Laura,
I enjoy this site so much. I don't have a NUT or anyone to go to exception Dr. so this is where I've gotten most of my information from. I really love this site and love all of the different opinions on things. The ONE thing that I'd like to pass along that I always taught my children when they were younger is "Concentrate on the good things in life. If you concentrate on them and think about them, you'll always have happiness in your life. If you concentrate on the negative, your negative thoughts will influence your life first". I've been through ups & downs, deaths and etc. and this outlook has helped me tremendously. I hope it helps others as well.

    Wow,
I just read all the way through this and am amazed at the things I learned. I'm 7 months out now and yes, I'm a food addict. I've got 12 pounds to go to get to my Dr's goal weight. My Dr is a lot different from others. He believes in 3 meals a day with no Snacks. I try to make it every day BUT sometimes I just need a snack. I usually resort to tuna salad (with light mayo) or a dill pickle. I don't eat any more now than I did in the beginning. I do worry EVERY week (I weigh every Saturday) that my weight loss is going to stop because it just doesn't seem real that I'm actually going to keep losing and actually reach a goal. I try to look on the bright side of things normally. But for some reason can't wrap my head around the fact that this is working. So it's kind of a little surprise each week when I keep losing. I LOVE MY SLEEVE!!

Chellemetime got a reaction from NoneYa in Husband problems..
I know this is a late post but I just read this one. My husbands father passed away when my husband was 18 years old from the Gastric Bypass so it as so VERY hard for me to decide to have the sleeve. I pondered for 2 years because my husband and I had been married for over 27 years. It was the hardest decision to go ahead with it. My husband was not, of course very supportive and even made the comment the day before my surgery that he couldn't believe I was going to go through all of them just to lose weight.
When I came out of recovery, he was fine. He's been a WONDERFUL support every since and is so proud of me. He was just afraid he would lose me.
He now feels the same as I do (I'm 7+ months out). It was the BEST thing I ever did for myself.
Focus on YOU! You can focus on your hubby afterwards.

This is something I made last night for dinner. My husband and daughter loved it and my son came over and ate 2 helpings. For those not on a "diet", they could eat it with some tortilla chips and it would be good too. I'm not big on measuring so I'm just going to give you the ingredients because it's simple and easy to make.
    Mexican chicken Casserole
Non Stick Spray (I used Olive Oil Pam)
    chicken Breast Cut into cubes
    Chopped Onion
    Chopped Bellpepper
    Mushrooms
    Comino
    Cilantro
    Chives (Optional)
    Mild Red Enchilada Sauce
    Non-Fat Plain Greek Yogurt
2% Mexican Blend or Monterey Jack cheese
Spray pan with Non-stick spray. Over medium high heat, saute the chicken breast, onion, bellpepper, mushrooms, comino, cilantro and chives together until the chicken is done and the vegetables are soft. Add enchilada sauce and Greek yogurt to make a creamy sauce. It should be light red in color but not pink unless you like it really light. Cover and allow it all to simmer for about 5 minutes on medium low heat. Top with cheese, remove from heat and cover to allow cheese to melt. Serve with more greek yogurt as a substitute for sour cream.
Let me know what yall think. I crave Mexican food and this really filled the void for me.
