  1. It is true that the farther out from surgery you get, the less you should rely on liquid Protein. However, I am 2.5 months out and I still have a Protein shake 1-2 times a week for Breakfast for the sake of grab-go-and-sip-while-I'm-in the car convenience. My NUT said that was OK. The shakes should not be your #1 source of nutrition, because you need to train your sleeve to eat normal food. -Kendra
  2. Wow. That's a huge thing to have to digest. My thoughts are with you. Gives me pause for thought because I also have an IUD. I hope your surgery goes well! -Kendra
  3. Go for it!
  4. People who gain weight back (I'm talking a lot of weight, not just 5-10 lbs) are flat out eating and drinking things they shouldn't. Their sleeve isn't stretched- they are eating foods that slide right down and therefore they don't feel the restriction as much and just keep eating. The sleeve is not a cure, it's work. -Kendra
  5. I didn't tell my 8 year old. Well, I mentioned it a good while before it even happened, but he got really nervous and worried. When it came right down to it, hubby and my mom told him I was "at work". I work 3rd shift and go to school so he's not surprised when I am gone odd hours. He was none the wiser and I think I saved him some anxiety. -Kendra
  6. So are you saying that you do try and stick to the Protein shakes, tuna, yogurt, etc., but you feel no restriction with those foods, but that you also indulge in non-healthy "slider foods" regularly due to the lack of restriction? I would think that even with 75% of your stomach gone, you would feel significant restriction. Best thing to do is contact either your surgeon or another surgeon's office here in the states and ask some questions. -Kendra
  7. My first question is, what are you eating every day? That has everything to with feeling restriction. You don't mention that anywhere in your post. I am thinking that is the issue.
  8. Well what are you eating? If it's junk you certainly won't feel the same restriction.
  9. Yeah, my big incision felt "hard" for awhile. I feel pretty well healed up on the inside, but my incisions are still very obvious on the outside 2 months out.
  10. Oh my, now that my weight loss is so obvious, I am lying through my teeth to people when I get the question, "how did you do it?". I say I'm eating a lot of Protein and limited carbs and training for a 5k. That seems to satisfy people. I have only told my family and a couple of coworkers. I figure it's no one's business, and honestly, it makes me uncomfortable talking about my health history- too private! -Kendra
  11. Oh wait, you said the pain is on the right side- my internal suture pain was on the left side near my "big" incision. Could be gas pain, too. I thought that in general gall bladder pain was more "centralized", like in the center of the chest or back. I had my GB out while on the table for my sleeve surgery, thank God. I had periodic aches in my back between my shoulder blades caused by my gallstones which are gone now. -Kendra
  12. No, not really! Hubby has been making this really yummy looking homemade white bread since Christmas, and I haven't had any. I took my kid to a bounce play area and when I came home the house was filled with the smell. I had stopped at Wendy's and got a kid's meal for my son and a small chili for me. I had a slice of the bread with some butter...OMG. Rock. in. my. sleeve. I have been able to tolerate everything until this. Glad I got that out of my system. I couldn't even eat any chili after that...ugh!!!! -Kendra
  13. I had that too and was warned about it by my surgeon's office. It is most likely the normal internal stitches thing. It's a rude awakening when you have been pretty pain free since a little after surgery, now suddenly it hurts again. For me it lasted about a week or so, then it went away as quickly as it came on. I have heard it can vary in intensity. -Kendra
  14. I eat Special K Protein cereal on a regular basis. I was allowed to have it during my soft food stage as long as I soaked it in the milk first. It's like 12 g of protein all together. -Kendra
  15. Oh, well, shows how much I know...
  16. Weird- Ihop here in Ohio is one of the cheaper places to go. An omelet breakfast here is maybe 7-8 bucks.
  17. As far as I know it heals back together. The staples probably eventually dissolve.
  18. I don't remember being told to use or not use anything specific.
  19. This is happening to me too, mostly with people I have known before losing the weight. I just notice my classmates (I am graduating in May with a Respiratory Therapy degree) are more interested in me and are going out of their way to include me in things. I don't know whether to sit back and appreciate it or feel a little depressed that I had to lose a bunch of weight to be taken seriously. I'm still essentially the same person, just smaller. -Kendra
  20. I had absolutely no problem with adding meat- just had my 1st steak last weekend and it went down fine. On the other hand, the only thing that has made me sick was eating too fast.
  21. Maybe try cutting the Protein bars in half and eat half at a time. How about chicken salad? Poach a chicken breast, shred, and mix with a little mayonnaise. That will fill you up w/in a few bites. Also, your weight loss seems fine to me. -Kendra
  22. I agree with the other posters. You are not eating the right things. Limit the Protein bars to one a day and EAT LEAN PROTEIN like chicken, lean beef, pork, etc. Did your surgeon's office not explain this? You will find you will feel much more restriction. I am a little shocked by your post, as you can tell. I eat potatoes and other carbs, but in very limited quantities. PROTEIN FIRST. -Kendra
  23. No advice, just wanted to say congrats! You are blessed! -Kendra
