Any Jersey Sleevers?
yes, I also heard from a sleeve friend who had Dr. Noyan, that Sabina has left. I was shocked because she didn't mention anything to me when I saw her less than a week ago!

Any Jersey Sleevers?
When is the support group meeting in January? I was sleeved by Dr. Noyan on 12/17 at RWJ. I'm also from the Hamilton area :]

When I drop my weight, I'm going to try (insert answer)!
I'm going to try: rock climbing, cycling (and compete in a race), running (and do a 5k), kayaking, skydiving (without my parents knowing), ALL OF THE CLOTHES I EVER WANTED TO TRY ON!

Dating and eating
I was also thinking Panera because of the soups. But also if you go somewhere else, perhaps you could order fish and steamed veggies or mashed potatoes. And like someone else suggested, tell them you had a stomach bug or the flu so you're taking it easy

Dating and eating
where are you two going? is it a chain of some sort? because a menu would be helpful in deciding what to order!

Dec. 17 Sleevers - How are you on week out?
yes! i can. i find that i can eat a lot more than 2-3 table spoons too. I can eat about a half a cup of pureed food. I'm still trying to figure out when I'm full because often I'm left feeling a little ill. (Doesn't help that I have a cold too)

Dec. 17 Sleevers - How are you on week out?
I found that muscle milk light (sold at costco) went down really well. It's not thick at all, almost like the thinness of 1% milk. It tasted pretty good too. i'm also drinking nectar chocolate truffle protein mix. I mix it with milk in a protein shaker and it's not gritty at all! i can down about 8oz in a 20-30 mins. I can finish a bottle of water in an hour

How long did u wait to eat pizza?
My dietician told me to stay away from pizza because of the dough, but she said I can eat the toppings (cheese and sauce). However I'm thinking thin crust would be okay once time has elapsed. I was looking for pizza alternatives recently and I came across this recipe that I can't wait to try in a few weeks! http://www.eat-drink-smile.com/2011/04/cauliflower-crust-pizza.html

Nyquil gel caps
Maybe try to stick to liquid cold medicine if possible? I don't know anything about the gel caps, but if no one else does, then liquid would probably be the way to go.

11 days post op; down 20 pounds
11 days post op and you're eating regular meat? Is it pureed?

Dec. 17 Sleevers - How are you on week out?
I'm sorry to hear about the vomiting! is it because you just moved to pureed foods or has it been vomiting through out the two weeks post op?

Dec. 17 Sleevers - How are you on week out?
One of my incisions is bumpy too, but I figured it's just healing and the stitches are still there. Once the stitches dissolve, put creams on it and rub it to get circulation into it. I think it's normal for our scars to be weird

Dec. 17 Sleevers - How are you on week out?
You definitely shouldn't have eaten those! It would've been better if you chewed and spit. I've done it a few times but only with little things, and I've eater a few peanuts and pistachios, but I've stopped that because there is a serious risk for a leak only being two weeks out. It's not about weight gain, it's about your health after healing. Be cautious and if you start feeling intense pain with a fever, contact your doctor right away!

Best Strawberry Protein?
My dad liked the 6 star strawberry protein powder from wal-mart. He said it got too foamy though so he switched back to vanilla. Maybe that brand might be good?

Would you do it again?
Doing this at 21 I think was the best option for me! A family friend said that she too wish she had this surgery at my age because her youth would've been so much better instead of having it later in life. I think her comment about it solidified my choice to have this surgery. Luckily, only being 13 days post-op, I haven't had one of those moments where I thought: What did I do to myself? It's more like: oh man, I miss food and can't wait to get through this to get to soft healthy foods. I did have one day where I got really emotional, but it's passed. Only time will tell if I'm super happy with my choice!

3week full liqud post op diet
As long as you're getting all your protein in with full liquids that would be your best bet. Also, what is your carb limit? Mine is 60 grams a day and my protein mix has zero carbs, so juice would be okay for me and my carb count. The calories doesn't sound too bad though! I'm on a 600-800 calorie day limit. So as long as you don't go over your recommended carbs and calories while drinking all your fluids, don't stress over it too much!

GOOD fast food choices ?! :)
If at all possible, stay away from fast food! Bring snacks to work to keep in your desk. If you absolutely must, look at Taco Bell's fresco menu and don't eat the tortillas. Chick-fil-a (I boycott it but that's my choice) you could do a grilled chicken sandwich, but only eat the piece of chicken and not the bread

weird feeling in my stomach when I eat mostly anything
Yes! Mine started yesterday. It's like a pain at the bottom of my stomach, almost like a gas bubble moving through a pipe whenever I eat or drink anything! Sometimes it comes up as a burp and other times it goes the other way. I hope it stops eventually :[

Day 13: What are you eating?
I was sleeved on dec 17th and I'm still on full liquids until new year's eve then I start pureed. Full liquids I'm eating/drinking: sugar free pudding yogurt (greek and others) mashed potatoes (diluted with Water and butter) tomato Soup (made with milk for protein) cream of chicken soup cream of celery skim milk muscle milk light Protein shakes with lactaid (I brought nectar and it's not gritty at all if you use a shaker, but sometimes the smell is annoying) I keep slipping up though, a pistachio chewed really well here or there (I keep reasoning with myself it's like me taking my Vitamin or medicine or something but I know I need to knock it off because I don't want a leak!)

Chili recipe or canned suggestion
My chili recipe is very simple and from my mother 1 lb of ground turkey or lean beef 2 cans of campbell's tomato Soup 2 cans of kidney Beans Cook meat Mix cans of soup and kidney beans together in pot (don't add water). Then add meat to beans and soup. Keep stirring. Cook for about an hour or more, until beans are soft. Add chili pepper, garlic, onion powder, and black pepper. Tastes pretty good to me!

First Doctor's Appointment Post-Op
I met with my dietician and surgeon today. My Nut was impressed with my 20 pound weight loss 11 days post-op but she told me to take two multi-vitamins and asked me about my calcium (I really need to start taking my chewables). However, I am up two pounds from two days ago, but maybe it's because my scale and the doctor's scale are different. I've also had no issue with getting liquids down what so ever and my dietician said I was very lucky. (I THINK I AM!) She asked me about acid reflux. I said I didn't have any or nausea. yay! But my BM's have become more difficult and I'm getting some serious gas pains and burping. She said it was normal. I just hope it doesn't last forever! My surgeon told me I could remove my steristrips when I get home. I did, and man it's weird. MY INCISIONS ARE SOOOOOO TINY! like we're talking a centimeter and the biggest one is maybe 2cm. I think with time I might not have scars at all. He told me when I start pureed food I need to go very slow or else I'll throw up. I'm starting those on New Year's eve dinner. woohoo for manicotti. I'm still having major gas pains today and I already went to the bathroom this morning. Also, after I sip things like soup or muscle milk, I get pains that feel like gas, and I burp. Not fun :[ I don't think it's a leak, but now I'm paranoid of strictures. I guess once I get to soft foods I'll find out.

Milk Protein Concentrate
Thank you so much for all the info! I'll definitely discuss with my nut and see if it's advisable for me to use milk protein if I don't like whey
