    when you stopped your PPI

I stopped mine somwhere around 4 months. I haven't had any issues with acid or heart burn. However, if I know I'm going to be drinking alcohol in a few days, I start taking some.

    Ready to call ot quits

how many carbs are you eating a day? you might need to up your carb intake. I remember months ago a person on here said they were eating under 60 carbs a day (maybe even less) and she could not lose weight with protein alone and she was tired all of the time. you might need to up the carbs to 100. if not, just stick to drinking more water.

    eat w/o drinking

I'm 8 months out and I still haven't mastered this. I just can't seem to break the habit. I only drink about 4oz with my meal, but I think it could contribute to me not losing weight in months.

    Can you eat salads?

I think I was able to eat salads 8 weeks out. I really enjoyed it the few times I had them. However, I can no longer eat them. TMI Warning: They give me runny BMs, and I get immense gas pain. So they might something to watch out for. Too much corn also gives me immense gas pain as well. Although, cooked cabbage is no problem at all.
  5. I finally found a premade shake that I like over protein mix called Oh Yeah! protein. It tastes great without that whey taste, but it's pretty steep price tag. about $35-40 for 12 14oz bottles. 220 cals, 7carbs, and 32grams of protein
  6. I drank about 3-4 months post op. BUT PLEASE, DRINK SLOWLY. and try low alcohol items first, like a glass of wine or a wine cooler or let a beer go flat. I learned the hard way, and when your body weight goes down plus with this surgery, you get drunk faster and it takes less to get you there. I find that liquids go right through me, so there's nothing to throw up when you get way too drunk. Just take it easy!
  7. Definitely. I used to have to drink a lot to get drunk, and now because of my sleeve I don't think about the fact that I've lost weight. I've gotten dangerously drunk on two occasions post-op. The worst part is that the liquid goes through you so fast, that when your body is trying to make you throw up from too much, there's nothing for you to throw up because your tummy is so small. You feel miserable. Pace yourself if you plan on drinking. I found with me, sometimes, the alcohol can hit you harder later. Hence why I need to pace myself very cautiously. Everyone is different.
  8. Yep! my first 40lbs didn't do squat for me, then once I hit 50 I had to go down 2 pant sizes! On my way from a 22 to a 16 now :]
  9. my family said I hiccup in my sleep! I guess I shouldn't eat before going to bed.

    girl parts

When were you sleeved? Because my NUT told me a side effect of ketosis is increased smell, like everything will smell very strong and or smell funny, and your urine will smell bad too. So it could just be your urine when you go to the bathroom that smells and not your actual lady parts!
  11. Wow that's great! I've been stuck at the same weight for over 2 months. I'm not Wow! That's great! I've been stuck at the same weight for over 2 months. I'm not taking care of myself like I should. Not getting enough protein, eating too many carbs, and my hair is falling out in globs. I'm a little frustrated, but I'm motivated again and I'm heading back to the gym. I think I have my follow up this week actually!
  12. I haven't been on for a while. I've been at a stall, but I'm not eating right or taking supplements like I should. I started weight lifting, and man, I AM SORE!

  13. FINALLY HIT MY 50LB LOSS BY MY 5 MONTH ANNIVERSARY!!!

  14. I've read on here that some people get hiccups or burping when they're full. When I let my hunger go on for too long, and that hollow feeling gets really intense, I start hiccuping (usally only for a minute or two). This is a sign for me that I need to eat. Does this happen to anyone else? It's an odd sensation, but I was wondering if anyone else goes through this when they're very hungry.

Support person is now a patient!

I met a couple at a support group once who were sleeved together, and they couldn't be happier. It's a great change to go through together Congrats!
  16. I'm down about 45 pounds, and I've lost 2 pants sizes. I've went from a 22 to a 18. Although not all 18s fit me. But I think maybe height has to do with it? I'm 5'6. I've heard that every 10 pounds equals a pants size, but that isn't so! I think the larger you are, the more weight it takes to lose pant sizes, but as you get smaller, less weight loss so 10 pounds is more like a pant size. Be patient :]

I'm cleaning out my closet (literally)...

It's nice to know people understand what you're going through. I'm finally seeing myself as a size 18 now. At leas this slow weight loss is letting me catch up with how my body really looks
  19. I feel like I’m going through a tiny bit of body crisis over something so small. I’m getting rid of all my size 22 pants. EVERYTHING. I’m bringing them down to SC to give to my grandmother to sell at a consignment shop. And I found a pair of 24 magenta jeans from Torrid, that still had their price tag on them. I remember when I bought them freshman year of college, thinking eventually I was going to be a 24 and they kind of fit at a 22. They were way too big on me when I tried them on, yet I still wanted to keep them. It was such a strange thought thinking that becoming a 24 was inevitable, even tho pre-op I was a 22 ever since I came to college. I never got to a 24. I slipped on a few pairs of size 20 capris/dress pants with my shorts on bunched up and a tshirt tucked into them. They fit. I just can’t fathom losing almost 2 pants sizes. (I say almost 2 because most 18s don’t fit right) It doesn’t seem like a big accomplishment. I want to hold onto my 22s. I don’t want to let them go. I said to myself “Gabby they’ll fit you this summer. They might fall down but you can still wear them anyway and hike them up.” But in actuality they won’t fit me. They don’t fit me now. And I just can’t get over that I’m going down in pants sizes. It’s been so long since I started dieting in middle school that I’ve seen actual progress. Even at a 20/18 I feel like I have more fashion options open to me. I forgot what that felt like. And it makes me both delighted and sad. Sad because I know how hard this world can be when you don’t have all the nice clothes available to you as a fat person above a 14. My size has been a huge part of my identity, all my life. And I’m wondering what will be left at the end of this long journey?? Will I still be the same or will I be an even bigger mess with an even bigger identity crisis than I started out with?

    A long awaited update.

I haven't posted on this site in so long, nor have I been active on the boards, and it's not only because of finals, papers, projects, and my thesis, but because I feel guilty. I haven't worked out in over a month. My diet? Completely out the window. I've eaten pasta a few times and potatoes. I got stuck with a giant box of left over candy from a school project and ate a lot of it. The scale went up to 231, but now it's back down to 224. I'm not taking my supplements like I should and I still haven't gotten my blood work done because I haven't been home. My hair loss is still going on but it's not that bad. No one can even notice and some days I can't either. Recently, I went out drinking, and let's say getting used to the lower body weight and the fact that liquid goes right through your stomach is a nightmare for consuming way too much alcohol and having nothing to throw up. So I learned my lesson the hard way. I shouldn't even be drinking anyway, but I'm young and graduation is around the corner. I just need to limit myself to one or two drinks. I've been so blessed to be able to have this surgery and I feel like I'm wasting it. I'm so busy with school work, but once it's all over, next week my butt is getting back to the gym and this time it will be for good because my home gym is so much better than my school's gym. I'm more comfortable there! I really wanted to hit that 50 pound loss for graduation on the 20th this month, but it might be possible the week before graduation to lose a few pounds to get close. I also have my 55 mile bike ride with my dad, and I think it's going to really test me because I'm out of shape again. (Heh, maybe I've never been in shape) but we're taking our time and spreading it out over two days. So that's what's been going on in my life. I hope everyone is doing well.
  21. 4 months post op, it's so easy to go back into old habits. I was eating mini candy bars like it was my job 2 weeks ago, and I said "that's it. they've got to go!" so I dropped them off at my work and put it in a bowl for everyone else to eat haha! luckily my bad eating hasn't made me gain weight, but I've only just maintained. I find it best to just not have the stuff around at all. I've substituted potato chips for "food Should Taste Good" Multigrain tortilla chips and sprinkle those with fat free cheddar cheese and salsa (YUM!). They have plenty of Fiber and some Protein, though you have to watch the carbs if you go over one serving. and for my sweet tooth I buy those popsicle sugar free chocolate that have about 40 calories for one (but these have about 14 carbs for two if my memory serves me right) When I really want something good, I buy these snack size weight watchers ice cream sandwiches. they're so tiny and perfect for our tummies and they really hit the spot when you want some "real" cheat foods. they're 80 calories, but have 18 carbs. plus 4 of them last me a whole month! kind of worth the steep price tag of about $5-6 for 4.
  22. this seems to happen to some, especially with Isopure and other Protein drinks. your urine might smell funny too, which is a side effect of ketosis. keep brushing your teeth! that helped me some when it happened

great job! keep up the good work
