  1. Welcome to the other side. Sounds like you are doing all the right things.

  3. Thank you for taking time to post this. I try hard to be upbeat and go with the flow. I lost 9 pounds pre-surgery and have lost 26 more pounds since surgery which was 12/26/12. That's about 6.5 pounds a week average. I have been stuck for a week or so at 222 which I understand can happen but still don't like it! I don't really mind losing slow as long as I'm losing At the super bowl party yesterday there was SO MUCH food. I was able to have a bite of this and a bit of that and was perfectly fine. The old me would have grazed all day and eaten until I was way beyond uncomfortable. I love the sleeve. It has forced me to eat small portions so I choose what I eat carefully. I struggle to get all my Protein in but I try. I also have a tough time getting calories in. I'm currently managing about 500 or less a day. I know that's not good and it's probably keeping my weight loss slow. I have a really busy job and eating is not at the top of the list anywhere. Before surgery I would grab an unhealthy snack to keep me going throughout the day then hit the fast food on the way home. I think I need to evaluate what the heck I'm going and plan ahead. What do you do to get your calories in each day? I also need to get back to making excercise a priority - it's not right now I walk a bunch during the day but it's certainly not the power walking kind of excercise I need to do. At the end of the day - it's up to me.
  4. Good luck to all of you. I read this forum every day before my surgery. I'm 1 month out and doing great. Half the battle is your attitude. I was tired of being limited in life. This surgery has turned me into a new person and I'm not going back
  5. I was eating Saltine crackers! I still have so much to learn.
  6. Way to go!!! Something to look forward to
  7. Sleeved 12/26. Down 33 pounds and two sizes. I'm lucky if I get 500 calories a day in. I average about 40 grams of protein and 40 ounces of water. I stalled at week three but didn't change a thing. I get in 30 minutes of exercise 5 days a week So far so good!!
  8. I agree with everyone. Such a good feeling to make choices now.
  9. You are amazing! You've accomplished a great goal and you're still on your way. Congratulations!!!!!
  10. Great job! Go ahead - tell your story. Others need to hear how successful you are. You should be really proud.
  11. the dreaded 3 week stall Hit me too. I didn't change a thing and the scale started moving down after 6 days
  12. Woo Hoo!!!! You'll love the sleeved life.
  13. hands down the best decision I ever made. It's natural to be nervous but you'll never regret the choice to get healthy and live longer.
  14. did you have much hair loss because you are losing at a slower rate?
  15. great job! Nothing wrong with slow and easy.
  16. walk, walk, walk, walk ! You'll do great and will love your sleeve. Let us know how you are doing when you are up and around.
  17. I'm four weeks out also and hit the 3 week stall last week. I have read enough info on this forum to know that stalls are temporary. AND IRRITATING! You are doing everything right - hang in there.... I didn't change anything at all and the scale finally started moving down again. I think our body needs to play catch up sometimes. Have faith and keep going forward - this a journey not a race (that's what someone told me!)
  18. You'll do great! Remember to walk early and often. That gets rid of the gas which truthfully is the worst of it! Everyone is different and we all handle things differently - keep a positive attitude and you'll be fine. Welcome to the sleeved life - it's fantastic!
  19. and the verdict is ..... Heartburn I can handle that! The Dr. recommended some Tums for immediate relief (it took 7 of them to work) and starting me on Prilosec immediately. Glad it wasn't serious and glad you told me to call. I would have still been sitting around in pain wondering. I LOVE this forum.
  20. Each doctor is different - I think we were sleeved on the same day (12/26), My doctor has released me to excercise - I have a limit of 20 pounds. He said "listen to your body. If you feel a pinch - STOP and wait another week." I'm doing light weights (3 pounds), treadmill and elliptical - 4 times a week. Doing fine so far. Good luck to you.
