  1. I hate to tell you this but - you are going to feel hungry at times.. I still think i am hungry after i have eaten and I am truely tummy full - it's because i only ate 1 cup of whatever and not 3 bowls full and i still want to taste the food. They banded your tummy not your brains - the band is only going to do 25% of the work and the other 75% is up to you. Weight loss is about calories in and out - but most of our problems isn't that our tummies are hunger it's cuz our heads are telling us we need that seretonin to calm us so we eat to create more seretonin. What you need to do is make healthy food choices - low calorie food - low in fat and sugar free until you have proper restriction - (which can take a while) when I am hungry and still want to eat I eat extra veggies. Make soupy instant mash potatoes with skim milk only no Water a tad of butter salt and pepper - creamed Soups helped me too - if you are on mushies cook up some zuchinne (over cook) drain, mush it up add some I can't beleive it's not butter spray - salt & pepper and go to town.. When you make your protien shakes add some banana - or frozen fruit and yogurt to them - makes they yummier and more filling. Have a sf pudding or fudgecicle - I am almost 4 months out and still get hungry and bad food go thru the band with no problem even with proper restrictions. You gotta do the head work too and true think am I really hungry or is it just cuz i am so use to eating so much more and a whole different type of foods. Good Luck - Welcome to band land....
  2. Yes for me surgery did hurt - I woke up after surgery and felt like an elephant had kicked me in the tummy and still had his foot on my tummy but you have Pain Meds that are wonderful - By that night late (had to stay in the hospital over night) they had me up walking - Had surgery on Tuesday -Weds better but very slow - by Thursday was doing alot better - Friday I was light cleaning around the house - no moving or vacuming - Back to work on Monday (i have a desk job)..
  3. Truely - I would spend the $$$ on my face before my boobs - heck with a bra on they are just fine I don't get showtime anymore - so I do watch it - but it was a good soap opera type show - I think I read somewhere that you watched All My Children too - Me too - well really haven't watched much lately - hate the story lines - it's gotten boring - but next week Zach (my most fav man) is going to get hit by a car and green is going to help him...
  4. Linda Thanks - I am just as upset as he is - I remember getting my license like it was yesterday and not 36 yrs ago... My Jeans are plus size from the Avenue - but top isn't - I would say i am a medium frame person - size 9 or 9 1/2 shoe when I was thin before where 10's now - I'm short 5'3 1/2 - say I am 5'4... I have a couple of parties coming up - and ALL of my tops are way too big (22/24 2x & 3x depending on the style of the blouse) I really really need a few tops - cuz when i try to get dressed for work - i feel good cuz i have lost 47 lbs - but I am drowning in my blouses - so I don't feel cute... So thats my plans for tomorrow - shopping for some tops and maybe bra's.. Going to Uncles house Sunday to criquite (sp) his short story... I'm like you -if i stick around the house and am not doing anything - i am in the kitchen looking for food - so i do have to stay busy... As long as i am busy I don't think about food... What are your stops in Mexico - I went w/my Sister last Feb - we did Acauplco - Manzillo (sp) - Xtpata (sp) - Carnival Sprite out of San Diego. 8 days Loved it - But I LOVE CRUISING.....
  5. Green - I am a So Cali girl - and I agree with you 100% - I don't get the big boob mentallity??? I think they are ugly personally I am a c right now - but not as lucky as you - I have grandma titties and by the time I get to goal - the will be a b (they were a small b when I was a in my 20's) - I wouldn't mind a lift and to be a full b - but i don't want D's
  6. Thanks Peaches - I think i look like betty davis - a little scary - but took it after work one day when everyone started updating their pics.. On the weight loss - I am working at it - I do think i am at my sweet spot - cuz i do have some restrictions... Watching what you eat and exercise - key key key to losing it... I feel really good - I am in a size 14 pair of jeans today and a top from target - junior section xxl - Out of the plus size section.. Loving it.. How are you doing??
  7. I am a WW fan and it is how I eat today - It is where I learn most of the info I parrot daily - You get meat, veggie, starch, sweet - it's all about protion control - I have done exchange & points - I personally count calories now - but my way of eatting is WW as i feel that it is the most well balanced eating program out there... For those who are young and haven't spent a life time doing the variouse programs out there - they should try WW - I think it's band friendly..
  8. Hey Chim - I was think of you the other day - cuz you hadn't popped int to say hi - we know you are busy with 2 jobs - but we miss you... Kathy - Heart & Prayers with you xoxox Janet BlooEyez - did you eat the skin or with out the skin - skin is my fav part congrats on the loss Mango - i want a new job too.. Well grandson didn't past his driving test - didn't look over his shoulder :think i feel so sorry for him - I remember what it's like to get you drivers license - he has to wait 2 weeks - 11/27 ....
  9. 6/20 11/9 Arms 15 13 Chest 44.5 38 Waist 44 38 Hips 50 43 Thights 29 25 Found this card this a.m. with measurments - so got brave and took them..
  10. #1 Multi quote - example (you want to quote the following people) Indio - hit mutli quote Lindaa - Hit multi quote Frustrated - hit multi quot Phyl - hit quote All will pop up in reply to box ... Kathy - I agree with Ruby - i took care of both my parents for the last 6 months - talk to them all this helped me so much once they were gone - My last bday card from my dad - said how lucky they were for having a daughter like me - no it was me who was lucky to have parents like them and able to give back ... Linda :clap2::clap2::clap2: Ruby -Yes Trash the junk !!!!! Ok gang - take my grandson for his drving test this morning - I sure hope he passes - but now i am going to go fully white from worry I seem to be diff from most of you - by band is ok in the a.m. but i drink coffee - lunch ok - dinner ok - midnite snack - tight :clap2::clap2: Not complaining cuz this is my danger zone :speechles:wacko::phanvan
  11. Denise It depend on your area - $25,000 - $30,000 for a full face lift - that's the whole thing... That's here in California - I am a ball parking that figure - depend on the doctor too
  12. Nance - this is the first time i have ever lost 47 lbs - the 1st time i did ww - i weight 206 (that was my highest back then) lost 35 - 40 lbs but that was it and that was with the hellp of drugs - medifast weighed 232 - got to 200. I am a size 14 at 200 - I feel good look ok at this size. I was weighting like 192 when i met my xdh - got down to 185 - and was buying clothes in the junior & womens section (no more layne bryant) I really don't know what the right weight will be for me - but aiming 160 I did get to 165 once on ww for about a day and from not eatting for 4 days - but I was in my 30's not 50's - now it's the saggy skin issue too. There was a big fight on the rants thread about us not choosing to try and loose all our weight - and i understand that (settling for less than perfection) - but too I think it is a personal choice - the biggest argument there was about one poster telling the other poster that she was too skinny and obessed with her weight turely almost saying she was anerxios (sp) looking - - I say to each their own - it's a personal choice and yes we can probably go the to the other extreme and be to obessed about being 125 vs 145.. Who gives a sh*t as long as you feel good - heck if you were 300 and got to 200 thats 100 lbs yes you would still be considered fat by some but compared to whar you were you are now skinny - not every thing is black and white - I love the color gray ;0)
  13. Darling - I am sorry that you are having such a hard time and no support. Losing weight is all about calories in and calories out - What are you eating - with or without restiction you can eat around the band. Your doctor didn't give you an eating plan when you were banded?? He didn't tell you how much Protein you needed daily?? If you weren't given proper guidence then it is understandable that your haven't done as well as you could have. I read that you can't do a lot of exercise -but they do have chair exercises that you can do with bands, IMHO i figure that the band will do about 25% of the work but the other 75% is up to you - You must make healthy food choicies - low fat - surgar free - limit the amount of calories you eat daily - per my doc get a minimum of 60 grams of protein in daily.. With the right support and guidance you can do this.. You just have to find a good support system - which is here on lapband and you need to make the healthy food choices and you will succeed. Good Luck to you...
  14. Jackie - I am sorry about the 2+ on the pounds :embarassed: :clap2: BUT AM SO PROUD OF YOU FOR MAKING HEALTHLY SNACK CHOICES..:clap2: Ok - Jackie just brough up a good point - are you guys reading labels??? I am so surprised when someone doesn't know how to read labels - I had 2 people in my office who didn't - one was eating a stoffers bell pepper tv dinner thingie and she said it was only 150 calorie - i told her look at the serving - it was 2 - so the whole thing was 300 calories not 150 - and then another friend didn't know that you take carb and subtract fiber to get what the total carbs really are. I guess i should be a nurtionist... I guess i have just done more dieting that they have - but yes everything you pick up at the grocery store - read the labels... See how many servings the container holds - it's usually more than just one... I don't count fat or carbs - I only count calories and protein... I read here on this board (not our thread) where someone was eating those lunchables - so last time i was at the store i picked one up - i saw what the calories where and put it right back - OMG for those amount of calories I could get 2 meals of real food.. I am a volume eater - i alway ate the most amount of food for the least amount of calories when i was on ww - and this is what i do now - if I am still hungry after dinner - i eat extra veggies.... most amount of food for least amount of calories that's my motto - candy bar 200 calories - a sandwich made with lite bread has the same amount of calories ( i made and eggbeater egg sandwich 2 slices of lite bread - 1/4 cup egg beater 1 slice 2% cheese = 160 calories) - which is going to fill you up and stay with you longer - it's sure not the candy bar... If you aren't doing it now - i want everyone to start today - every package you pick up read the calories per serving - go on line and look up your calorie on your fav meal - omg zuchinee from carl's junior and 1 pket of house dressing 775 calories - if you go and ck out the calories - you wll be so suprised at what you use to eat.. No wonder we were fat... 1 99cent red burritto from Del Taco 430 calories - I always ordered extra sauce & cheese so we are most likely talking 600 calories - then add a quesidilla - another 400 calories - 1000 calorie for just one meal...
  15. Thanks Kirajh - I am just parroting all the lesson I have learned over the year from this program or that - I just put it in plan every day english and i think it's so much eaiser hearing it from another FAT person rather than some skinny chick standing up front telling you what to do or not to do... We all are on this journey together and here to support each other. We are ALL TIRED OF BEING FAT.. That's why we took such drastic measures by having a surgery - That in it's self was a major step forward imho... So we can't loose sight of that - we have to be reminded daily of our goals and what sacrifices we have made to have this surgery - heck some are self pays - some of us had insurance but still had to pay the bucks.. Heck for all my pre-testing & program fees I could have gone to mexico and has mine done.. Car I don't know what to tell you about Turkey day - I am lucky and can eat all kinds of meat as long as it's slow and chew well - I get semi stuck on my fish when i eat too fast... My Son and his family are most likely going to his MIL'S for turkey day - my gs will have his license and be out and about - he's not big on turkey anyway or ham for that fact. So I don't think i will be cooking - I have a few friends house i can go to and that's what I will most likely do. a Good thing about this is I won't have the left overs to tempt me... IMHO a couple of bites of gravey isn't going to add 5 lbs - I will most likely eat regular turkey day meal Turkey gravey - mash tatoes - veggies , stuffing and a little pie - No bread though - but it will be in a lot smaller portions that what I have in the past and anyway - after i did all that cooking - i never want to eat anyway.. I have pretty good restriction - but for those who don't I suggest that you go get a fill if you can. And for those of you who have to cook - make it lite like Car suggested - and if there are tons of left overs send them home w/your family - your kids & hubbys don't need to eat cakes pies for the next 4 days... My down fall will be xmas - and xmas cookies - my grandaughters come and we make sugar cookies with frosting - OMG i LOVE xmas cookies 2 here - 3 there - 6 more during the night - So here is my plan - 98% will go home with them - 1.5 % will get put in a ziplock and given to my grandson to keep in his room for when he might want one - and I will keep .5% = 5 cookies for me to eat. Thats my plan... Oh ya we have tamales here too.. made with lard and the masa is my fav part - I love the cheese tamales with chili pepper inside - This will be another problem - but the way to solve it - I will only buy 1/2 dozen instead of 2... if it's not here then i can't eat it. We gotta eat normal -we just can't eat the whole thanksgiving meal which is overloaded plates of food on Thursday - Friday - Saturday and Sunday - Allow yourself to eat on Thrusday and have a little bit of everything even a piece of pie or whatever kind of dessert you serve - But on Friday - we are right back to our healthly eating ... And since alot us will be off (guessing) - walk that extra mile to counter the food you ate on thrusday - this is what skinny people do.. It's not that one piece of cake or pie that will make you fat - it's all the pieces that follow that will... OH YA almost forgot - for those on our mini weekly challenge - today is weigh in day - I lost 3.5 this last week - 206.5 last Thursday 203 this morning :clap2: - I have pm phyl with my update like she asked - so everyone who was in on the mini weekly challenge - it's time to own up.... :biggrin1:
  16. Denise You have been losing an average of 5 lbs a month - that's great:clap2: you have lost 55 lbs since 12/6.. Come on - give yourself some credit... I wish i had only 15 to go - I just increase or should i say deceased my goal from 170 to 160 - so I have 43 more to go.. and truely 145 would give me a good bmi - but at my age - i don't know how i will look - so I am now aiming for 160 - We will see how it goes.. One day at a time.
  17. Happy Camper here too... I would eat the meat and cheese from the hamburger but not the bun - don't want the calories or to get filled up on bread which has no nurtional value. I still love my beef - hamburger - steak (love it like you used to wheestin)- but eat red meat only once a week - eat mostly fish and a little chicken...
  18. Thanks Linda Do you know that I benefit from giving all this advice too - When I want to eat something or not go and exercise - I say to myself "what would you tell the girls?? You have to practice what you preach, you have to be a good example to be able to motivate" Yep - we have been eating very good for the most part for the last 4 month - and we think - I have been so good - I can treat myself to my fav food - but that's where it starts - Let me tell you a new blouse or pair of jeans - in a smaller size is a better reward for those last 4 months of eating healthy - than a stupid candy bar imho...
  19. I agree with Crabcake - Don't think it is cuz of your lapband... Maybe your diet - what are you eating.
  20. CeCe -GO GET A FILL !!! where in the h*ll did you get all that food !!!!!! I understand the pizza - thin crust a coupld of pieces that is food (not great food but it's a meal) - But donuts cookie choc & friggin pie... Come on now - you don't want to slip back into your old food habits - PLEASE PLEASE don't hurt yourself that way... Ok stress eating - During that type of situations - you need to have foods that are low in calories but taste good - veggies to munch on with a little dip - sf puddings - sf ice cream bars - you have to be prepared to deal go to the store today and buy food that are crunchy - low in calories to eat when you are stressed - PLEASE DON'T BUY THE JUNK... Gang - I understand that for a lot of us (myself included) that honeymoon period is over - we are going on 4 months of our new lifestyle change.. We think it's ok to have a little of this or that - but that always leads to once a week to every other day to daily - eating the bad stuff... Come on we have all done this a milliion times before - we can lose the weight but then we put it back on - this is a life style change not a diet... If you just have to have something - be it chips - cake - pie - candy - just buy one cookie - have just one piece of cake or pie - have 10 chips - 1 candy bar - it's not that one piece but all the ones to follow that will add those pounds. DON'T BUY IT -- IT WON'T BE THERE TO EAT... How about this - pick one day a month to eat your fav thing - bake that cake or pie buy that box of donuts - have one piece and throw the rest away - you will feel so strong when you do that - it is liberating to throw something away that you just love - it show that you have control over it and it doesn't have control over you - try it.. See how it feels - to me it makes me the winner - not the food - come on we can't let food control us - we are STRONG WOMEN... Today is a new day - get back on that bandwagon and for your penance (sp) walk and extra mile today CeCe - We love you and want you to be a healthy strong woman and we are here to help you obtain that goal - Remember i am on that shoulder - and no you can't tell me to go jump in a lake and eat anyway - cuz i won't go - i am very stubborn:rolleyes: To funny had me cracking up :bounce: Mango - Sorry about the root canal - not the most enjoyable experience in life Why are you eating candy everyday (7 day as of last nit) Please go throw it out - candy is our alchol/drugs - please please don't start doing your drug of choice again - this is your heart on drugs (to bad i can't insert a clogged up heart - but you remember the commercial) Come on Good choices Ladies - 1 day a month go out and have your fav thing - but go out and have only one piece of what you want- (unless you can do like me and just throw the SH*T away and it is sh*t) Please - Please let's not go back to where we were - let's move forward and learn from our mistakes ....
  21. P.S. - You might not know it but I am the food cop aka food angel for the Lucky #7's So from now on - i am sitting on your shoulder - watching what you eat. And when you want to eat something you shouldn't - I am there telling you not to....:tired:heh:
  22. Blooeyez - You have lost 40 lbs :clap2::clap2: You are not a failure - you have just had a little lapse which is normal - even skinny people eat cake & candy - but just every now and then - it's not that 1st piece of cake that adds the weight but the 2nd & 3rd one.. - You are doing the right thing in getting another fill. You did the right thing by having your son hide the candy You have lived with out sugar for 3 months - Throw the peanut butter away now - and from now on don't buy your most fav cake - cuz you know you will eat too much - buy what the kid's like and you don't - for me that wouldn't work - cuz i love cakes - for my DIL I made her a cake and made her take it home with her - I kept just one piece for me... I eat sf double choc puddings & healthy choice fudgecicles almost nightly for my choc fix... If it's something that you can't control how much you eat - don't have it in the house - you wouldn't put a drink in front of an alcohalic - so don't put sugar in front of you.... Just pick yourself up by the boot straps - tomorrow is another day - eat healthy and add a bit more exercise and those 3 lbs will come off quickly... Good Luck - you can do this - you are woman you are strong !!!
  23. Adult Tylenol - Ralph's or Kroger Grocery Store depending on your area - They don't have it at my Target and I don't shop at Walmart.
  24. Jackie :clap2::clap2: YA for throwing them away :clap2::clap2:- i threw my peanut butter away too cuz i kept eating a spoonfull here and there - I am very anxouise (SP) right now - don't want to exercise - but just like on biggest loser this is my last change before weigh in tomorrow so i will. Jackie even with restriction i still want to eat - head hunger - i hate it...
  25. I was banded on a Tuesday - back at work on the following Monday (6 days out) have a desk job - did fine...
