Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters
Peaches - LOVED IT !!!!!!! Glad to hear you still have restriction - I am keeping my fingers crossed.. 1000 calories doing good... Phyl - I know you were teasing - but as soon as it came out of my mouth - I thought - that maybe it shouldn't have said it like I did (like are you STUPID or what) you can count on me for saying things like that without thinking first... I owe you all a big thank you tonite - why you ask - well after work I was really tired and didn't want to go to the gym. But thought to myself as I was trying to talk myself out of going - what would you tell the girls - you would tell them just do it - it your tired slow your speed - or only do 1/2 but get your butt in gear and do a little something - So I took my advice to all of you and just did it... Thank you all for keeping me honesty... Well It's 7:45 - gotta go eat - might ck back later (depending what's on TV) If not talk to ya'll in the morning.. Karri - I hope you didn't over do it at the gym tonite - you are just getting over being sick - And good for you for taking time for you...

Help! Please!
Thanks Karen - I have done it with the same mindset as you... I didn't gain one pound over the holidays - I had a few Cookies but nothing like before and it wasn't cuz the band stopped me - It was cuz I stopped me and exercised. Wishing you a speeding recovery.. Janet

Help! Please!
Karen - You have the correct mindset and you have done your research and I feel that you will do very well as a bander . This band is not a diet - it's not a game (having Major Surgery) it is a lifetime lifestyle change and as long as you do your part the band will do it's (once you get proper restriction) That being said even when you don't the best restriction you gotta make healthy food choices because this a lifestyle change as you can eat around the band I eat healthy 98% of the time - I do still eat out - have a taco & bean - a couple of bite of a bloomin onion - but that's 2% of the time and I now exercise 4-5 days a week. I follow a weight watcher eating plans as for me I need a well balanced eating plan - I will never be an Atkins girl - - Also I do have snacks - but they are heathly - 3 meals - 2 snacks.. I feel that people are doing a disservice to themselves thinking that this band is going to do all the work that they can still eat like they did before the band but just less - heck most of us were eating high fat - sugar loaded foods and not exercising - What we (fat people) consider normal is not - it's not healthy. The secret is that you have to truly give up your old habits - addictions IMHO I think the road to success is more mental than physical and it can be done as long as you put the work in I will say a little prayer for you and your surgery tomorrow..........

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters
I would mention it to your Doc next time you go if you get it often - I only get mine occassionally - Yep good posture takes off 10 lbs - boobs - i'm still buying "D" but the have deflated mostly just skin in the bra - I have grandma tittys - or dog ears as they are called sometime:eek: - I really need some good bras... I would love to get a real professional fitting...
-
Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters
Yep Karri you are right about that one - and in person you can really see her weight lost !!!!! Sonya - are you talking about your band or your port - sometime if I am slouching I will get a pinch feeling - but readjust by sitting up and am ok - my port is about 3 or 4 inches below my bra - I have been noticing pinch feeling when i bend over to put my tennies on - but its on the right side by my liver - like scar tissue straining - we that's what I put it off to...

Help! Please!
Wanabthin OK GF - stay the heck away from McDonalds. .. I was too tight for 1 week too - I had all of the fill except .02 taken out - I stil have restriction - but I do know what it feels like to not eat for a week. This is one of the reasons i say most of our hunger is head hunger and not true phyical hunger You are trying to make up for not eating - you can't do this - You can't just rely on your band - YOU have to make good healthy food choices and Big Mac & Fries aren't healthy foods - Go back in and have a couple .02 put back in - but in the mean time you gotta make healthy food choices - Protein - veggies and then starches. the band only does 25% of the work the other 75% is up to you... When you want to eat - find low calorie low fat foods to eat that will fill you up - If I am extra hungry I make a snack size popcorn and then eat one piece at a time - 100 calore - If I am hunger after dinner I eat more veggies - you can get full on healthy stuff you just gotta retrain your brain...

Good Morning Gang Peaches - here is the link to the Brag Photos - http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f94/progress-picture-brag-thread-51324/ I usually just go to my account and it shows all my subscriptions - I rarely come in thru the July 2007 link - so that's where it's at This is the new place to post pics. I have everything I can cross - crossed for you... Jackie - LOOKING FANTASTIC GIRL !!!!! Hope you are feeling better Nichole - OMG YOU ARE DOING GREAT !!!! Kari - Call your sleep clinic - I agree what was said... I no longer use my cpap machine - infact took it back to them in Dec - I had slight sleep apnea - I never stopped breathing just that my breathing got real shallow - I haven't used mine since surgery - kept getting bills for $11 bucks a month so said here's your machine... Katrina - You don't have to bring your hubby - Girls weekend.... Do you guys really want to do this - I think it would be fun ... Linda and everyone else - We want pictures... Ruby - I know how hard it is to get the water in when you are tight - hugs to you hope it loosens up soon... IT'S OFFICAL !!! WE HAVE THE BEST SUPPORT GROUP !!!! Phyl & I went to the 1st lapband support group meeting here in the Desert last nite - there were 8 banders (incl me & Phyl) - 1 prebander and the lady who leads it. It was alright - but can't say that I am willing to give up exercise and a late night (got home 8:30 ish - I am at work by 7:15 a.m so that makes for a long day) to go.. It was a little disorginized imho - we scared the newbie with our pbing stories - and I can't beleive she said she did her research but didn't know what PBing was - I told her I though you did your research .. It just popped out - I guess that's one of the very 1st terms I learn when I was on this site.. I kept pushing LBT telling them you have 24/7 support here - 2 girls were Aug - 3 of us July and 1 guy October and the other guy I don't know - I guess they usually have speakers for exercise - head hunger etc - we will see - they have one closer to me and it's both bypass & banders - they say we have the same mental issues - but we do have diff phyical issues - but it doesn't start til 6 p.m and I am such a routine person - work - gym - home and don't know if i want to shower and get dressed again to go out.. I guess I could go all sweaty from the gym:wink2:.

A couple of pre-op questions......help please
Maddy this is an EXCELLENT point - love this way of thinking.. Truly the longer you do this the less you miss all that junk you use too eat - at least that's the way it has been for me - I eat healthy 98% of the time and once and a while I allow myself a small treat.. Grayom - Each doc has diff preop diets - mine was oatmeal - shake - Soup - and some yummy portein bars After surgery it will take a week or so for your appeitite to return - but yes you will be hungry at times- depending on your doctor you will be on full liquids (includes cream soups) for 10 or 14 days - then move to mushies for the same amount of time then soft then regular - you most likely will be instructed to eat 1/2 cup of food per meal - here in the US most doc's don't fill till 6 weeks post-op Hunger - there is real hunger and head hunger - i can eat and be full no longer really hungry - but still want to eat - us fat people don't really know what hungry is (IMHO) we eat more with our brains than we do with our tummys - they are banding your tummy not your brain and imho i think most of our problems lie there The band is not the magic cure to your issues with food - the band helps 25% of the time once you have proper restriction and the other 75% is up to you - you control the quality and quainity of foods you eat - only you can do the exercise that is needed to lose weight - the band is only a piece of plastic in your tummy - Once you have made up your mind to make the lifetime lifestyle change in your eating habits (low fat - sugar free) and add exercise in your life - it's a breeze - at least for me it has been. But I have finally realized that I want to live - I feel 1 million times better than I did 6 months ago - I am proof that the band works as long as you do the work too. As far as you MIL cooking - once you are cleared from your post op diet you can have some - just not as much - and it depends on what she cooks - some of us can eat bread - some can't - some can eat chicken - some can't - it's a trial & error - eat slowy chew chew chew - and I can eat most thing if I follow the banders rules. Good Luck on your journey -

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters
Karri Sorry to hear you are still sick :cool2: - chicken soup - I swear by it - but home made.. I am so glad 98% of the time that I don't have a BF or DH to have to deal with (I think I am the only single gal - no chim & dini are single too - so will say the only older single gal in our group) and I am proud of you for going to your party anyway - I would have just stayed home him most likely - well I guess it really would depend on the sitiuation -my x-dh was too controlling could go anywhere by myself .. execpt to the store etc.. I am glad that Phyl is going too to the support group - at least I will know someone - Pam the other girl I know from here and is another Dr Bobby patient isn't going - but I think her friend is - but I only met her once prior to being banded - this is my 1st banded support group meeting - so will see how it goes - knowing me I am going to try and run it  you guy know what a big mouth i am - always spouting off my ideas and thoughts ...:huh2: It will be very interesting to say the least... Well better get a few more things done... Talk to ya'll later

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters
Linda - Thanks!!!!! But I got you all fooled - I am just a regular person high school education with some bacularete classes for my certificates in Insurance -- i can be a rotten little scoundler - I can talk to the President but Cuss like a salior Good to hear your son did see the light - I firmly beleive that all you can do is your best and the rest is up to them - they will see the light eventually - No rotten tomatoes - We aren't perfect 100% we are normal and that is normal - when I was too tight I ate 1/2 c dairy free Ice Cream with nestle quick on top (choc powder over vanila ice cream) - If you are too tight you do need to get calories in somehow - you gotta live. Ok gang - how about Meeting in Chicago this Summer - the April people are meeting in Tx - River Walk I think in May - for like Friday & Saturday Sunday.. To bad we don't have a travel agent among us... I think it would be so cool to get together - we can't cruise during the summer cuz of storms - but we could meet at one hotel and hang out ..... Steph My GS does better in smaller classes - he needs the attention... I am glad to hear that you are their for your kids - they will remember that when they get older Glad to hear you had a nice night w/family - yes sometimes we just need to slow down.. Lunches do suck - take your own - I cooked extra fish last night (ya i know ya'll going to think i am going to turn into one big fish as much as i eat it:tongue:) So that I would have lunch for a few days - but my GS ate 3 servings last nite so only have 2 days for lunch.. Well back to the grindstone - have support group tonite - 1st one just for banders - Phyl is going too - so I will be seeing her - it's not over til 8 so doubt if I will be on tonite - but know I will ck back before I go this afternoon. Think about meeting up someplace this summer - it would be a blast...

Ruby - I totally undertand all those hands - - Yes we want pics
-
Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters
Good Morning Gang Thanks Brandy !!!!! I feel so good.. Ruby - .25 is a lot - you may have a tad too much - the doc had put in 1 cc and then took out .08 - so I ended up with .02cc added and that was enough - last night as I was fixing grandson his plate (he eats salmon) I popped a couple of well cooked Brussels sprouts in my mouth cuz I was STARVING - well guess what came back up. I had eaten too fast even though I had chewed. It is terrible to be too tight - make sure you take come pecid for the reflux - the acid in our pouches - isn't a good thing - I didn't like not being able to drink my coffee in the morning - ya I lost like 4.5 the week I was too tight - but for me I would rather lose a little slower than not being able to eat - Eating is still important to me - I missed my fish and veggies - I really don't miss eating like I use to - I enjoy my healthy meals - but I want my meals - not pure liquids - can you even imagine trying to eat real food being this tight - IMHO I would get some taken out ... Ok I watched Oprah last night - She wasn't as bad as I thought she would be (but you gotta read what Cassie’s mom said about the taping – I think it’s in the Rants & Rave Section) but didn't like how she gave props to the girl who did it on her own... And the 21 yr old who now drinks - hell most kids who go to college become party animals - just cuz she had bypass didn't cause her to drink imho - I liked the Mom's disagreeing with Dr OZ - I wish that some long timers who have lost their weight and maintain would go on the show as proof that you can lose 100% of your excess weight and maintain - and tell her that the band only does 25% of the job and the other 75% is up to us - and yes we are all dealing with our head hunger issues - they think that those just disappear - no we are doing the work both mentally and physically.. The whole teen issue is a hard one – 13 yrs old – I don’t know… I would be torn on what to do – I wouldn’t want my kid growing up fat – that’s hard – but I think that I would try and cook healthy and teach them good eating habits at that age and not just resort to surgery – and I sure and the hell wouldn’t do bypass – band yes.. I think that maybe 16 – 17 would be a better age – like the boy who is in the study. Well, gotta get to work – talk to ya’ll later…

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters
Peaches - sometimes I do remember stuff but you know how that goes :rolleyes2:- but I have been concerned about you and your band - You all may not beleive it - but truly - I have a bond with you all - i think we have built lifetime friendships here. If I was in Canada - I would call you up and say hey gf - can I come over and visit - (yes I know take my shoes off at the door:tongue:) I feel that about all of you here - I would welcome any of you in my home day or night - (i don't think any of you are serial killers:biggrin:) I know some are weird about this cuz we met on line - but I really believe that you all are who you say you are and we have shared so much ... So what did he say about you loosing your fills - I really would hate for you to have to have surgery again - but at least this time you know what to expect if it came to that - and as long as it didn't cost you anything. I have TIVO'd Oraph - havent watched it yet - cuz you know I was taking the easy way out and went to the gym to exercise - then I took some books to a sick friend - then came home paid bills and cooked myself (no chefs in my house) a healthy dinner - fish 4 oz baked - Brussell sprouts - and rice if i can eat it.. You will all know my opnion tomorrow - and so will Oprah & Dr Oz ... Kari - We are going to go picket Oprah - once it warms up - That will be our meeting - instead of a cruise - we will all meet in Chicago and Picket Oprah on her stupidy about WLS.. OMG Mango - That's gross :success1: - just goes to show you kids have a mind of their own :Banane22: Tell us what you are doing for Fat Tuesday... Wannabfatfree - You got it girl !!!!!! Katrina - We haven't forgotten - all I could think is that could be us here in So. California with our earthquakes... and know unless you really live it you don't fully understand - but what I saw on TV was just the saddest thing I have ever witnessed - I really wanted to do something - I couldn't go and phyically help so I did sent $$ and still do donate to help the cause. I agree with the increase of calories to boost weight loss... You aren't diff on how you eat - we all are doing what works for us.. Just cuz one person weighs and measures doesn't mean we all have to it's whatever works for you. Well gang it's 8:30 I am hungry - got my bills paid - said hi to ya'll now gotta to eat - watch Oprah - so will talk to ya'll tomorrow.. Sweet Dreams.... Janet

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters
Phyl - I name you ROYALITY - QUEEN OF WLS for losing 60 lbs todate screw them... We are doing it - they can all just jump in a lake - I think we are going to have to petition the Oprah show and people mag and all the others who say they did it on their own.... (the smiley above is as close as I could come to knighting you )
-
Poll - Democrat or Republican?
Green - in the presidential election we can vote for whomever we chose regardless of party. Here in the States when you turn 18 you register to vote and I think you have to pick a party be it Dems, Rep, Indep, Green etc Since I a registered as a democrate i get alot of junk mail about the candiates -and all the propositions (indian gaming) - and during the primaries you only get a ballott with your parties canidates -- I thought this was suppost to change but didn't notice it on my mail in ballott for tomorrow's super tuesday primary here in California... I think if you register independant you do get all parties on your ballot but not sure. It's all b.s. anyway - they all make all these promises - that they don't live up to or fight congress - or fights between the dem & rep - is just a big mess - but it's the AMERICAN way - and it's all we got - so you just try and figure out who is lieing less - ya let's build a wall to keep the illegals out - ya that's really going to work - lets spend billions of dollars for them to find away over or under it - health care - I don't know how they are going to fix that one - Indio's pea brain can't think that large - so like I said - you just vote for whomever you think will do the best job and cross your fingers. period end of story  a very very simplified answer and could be all wrong - not super up on my politics...

Ok Step - you can rant rave cry be happy be pissy we will understand. 1st of all you are not alone with the kid issue ' I have my almost 17 grandson - let me tell you - he did ok in 6th grade barely made it through 7th & 8th - maybe got 10 credits his fresh & soph yrs. (gotta say he not lazy - he is my little cleaner) I tried and tried to motivate him - I talked and I talked - you need an education - you need an education - in one ear & out the other. it wasn't until this yr he finally put his nose to the grind stone - Some kids aren't cut out to be book worms - they just aren't - no matter how much WE want them to - My GS has never really been into school - some kids aren't he has come to the realization that he has to get the work do so that he can graduate. He most likely won't go to college but some kind of trade school - that's ok - as long has he has a job and can support himself in life - it might not be up to my expectations - but those are mine not his my job it to try my best to guide him - but as we all know "whoever listened to their parents'" - Potty Training - out of practice on that one - it's been 35 yrs since I had to do that w/my son and he did pretty well and so did my GS.. Can’t help there too much either sorry as to DH - again can't help there either - I'm divorced so that tells you my patience with men... I liked that you kicked him - good job he deserve it.. so not much help there either - but I feel your pain - Just take it one day at a time - this too shall pass - I only count calories and protein - I try and stay low fat & sf but not all the time - your oranges sound good and healthy... Don’t' worry so - take your time you will find your groove. Can't help with your student's either - can barely add 1 + 1 with out the calculator - but giving you hugs hugs hugs - hope they do help a little anyway...

Karri I still am a frosting girl - not as bad but I still enjoy it - Yesterday at Son's they made french bread pizza - I ate the top of one - and had a few chips & dip - I get full fast even on chips.. DIL made steak - bake potatoes & broc for dinner - the meat was a little dry for my taste so didn't eat much mostly chewed and spit out (tmi) cuz I knew it would bet stuck if I didn't - I find that I can eat steak - but it has to be good steak filet migon (sp) something very soft - had my broc and tato (1/2) - then came home and had fish for my protein - DIL had some carrot bundt cake I had sliver of this - where in the past it would have been 3 pieces. Daytime tv:eek: I don't like Kelly Ripa (I liked her when she was on my soap) but she is to frickkin silly - I am not a silly kind of gal... I love being able to watch GMA when I am home - I love Diane Sawyer & Robin... I thought about not comming in - but had too much on my desk - I think I need a mental health day - so maybe I will get my desk cleaned up and be sick tomorrow... Could go to the gym early - and ya I have my local lapband surport group meeting tomorrow night... so if I didn't have to work I could meet Phyl for and early dinner... Well we will see how the day goes - If I stay on here all day - I sure and the heck won't be calling in tomorrow:tongue: Karri btw we should go on oprah next year when we are 2 yrs out... Who wants to join us... We will give them a piece of our minds....
