I JUST LOST MY FRIGGING POST :tongue_smilie::cursing::thumbup::cursing: OMW you all have been busy - i read the post a couple of times today but didn't post cuz I was busy - Now it's going to take me all night  Karri - I am still fat in my head - I want someone to point out that I look like that person over there.. I still miss eating stuff to a degree - but I know if I do - I won't look like I do - and I really love looking at my self clothed in the mirror..I just don't concentrate on my bad parts to much. I really don't like the saying nothing taste as good as thin feels - cuz I used it before and still put the weight back on - those 5 lbs at a time.. But I agree it is a true statement.. Steph - QVC here we come.... The husbands will be busy with each other - and you can stash your bags in my room :frown: Peaches - Multi Quotes Hit the multi quote under Jackie's post - then hit the multi quote button under karris post then hit quote under my post Your reply box will open and look sorta like this (salas877 quote - I like to run - i almost lost my keys - I love my DH, I ate my carbs tonight but now I am gassy (quote) Karri - this is peaches post to your post (Jacki59 quote - I have OCD - I clean my house 10 times a day and clean my car 2 times aday - (quote) Jackie - this is peaches post to your post (Indiogirl quote - This is how you doa multi quote Candice (quote) Indio - this is peaches post to your post Then you go up between the post - and type your reply - I have done it in red Phyl can you give better instructions than me - I am alway better showing - that telling... ------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok - Business to attend to 1ST ON THE AGENDA LUCKY#7 BAND ANNIVERSARY SECRET GIFT EXCHANGE - So far I have Karri - Ruby - Jackie- Kristin - Me - Phyl - if you want to participate - p.m. me your address - I will put names in a hat and pull as to who get's who - I will do it alphabetical - Janet - pull name Jackie pull name - Karri - pull name Phyl pull name etc. - I think we agreed on $20 - $25 - and some wanted ideas as to what you like - 2ND ON THE AGENDA MALL OF AMERICA This is who I have going Linda - Peaches - Phyl - Steph - Jackie - Me Maybe Kari - Mango?? I know Karri & Kristin aren't. Chim booked a room but she hasn't been back.. Are we for sure that the above people are going - I know that Steph & Phyl have already made train reservation.... Jackie what's son driving ed schedule - Linda & Peaches are you still coming?? Kari - Husbands are coming too (Phyls - Jackie's - Steph) so he can drive you and have other men to bitch about being dragged on this trip and all the $$ we are spending  Ok - that's it for the business - Let me know what's up gang.. -------------------------------------------------------------- Well today was trainer day - got to the gym early did a mile at 3.2 speed 4 incline then 6 incline 2.5 for almost 1/2 . Today was arms - I felt really strong today and we really pushed it - I think I am going to be sore. I felt really re-motivated when I left the gym - I know this whole new life style is great and fantastic - but sometime the old life style was so much easier - i didn't have to plan - I could eat as much as I wanted to - but a good work out can just re-motivate you Just like Jackie said - 9 months ago I could barely do a mile on a level surface - now I am doing 3 on inclines of 4 to 6... Oh Jackie - My trainer says that when you hit a plateau you gotta mix up how you eat - so if you are eating carbs for dinned - change them to eat at lunch and have lean protein & veggies for dinner... Ok it's 8:11 - I am hungry - I know I miss some of you - I think - tomorrow I am not going to wait til night to post - heck this has taken 1/2 hour to type.. Hope it makes sense

Amount to unfill for a cruise??
Kandiceb Yes being too tight is worse than having no restriction IMHO... Staying too tight in order to lose weight quickly is also not a healthy option in my opinion either - you can cause damage to your stomach and this (the band) could be used as a tool for eating disorder too - We can go from one extreme (eating too much) to the opposite (not eating enough) I am glad to hear that you are now able to eat regular foods - Have fun on your cruise:biggrin: - I love cruises I have been on 8 - it's the only way to vacation - Watch out for those liquid calories - ie drinks of the Day - they are always so great :rolleyes2:
-
I've messed up big time, will I still have surgery
I think you are doing great going on the liquids for the next two day - I doubt that those 10 lbs are and accurate number - that would mean you ate 35,000 in 3 days - it's mostly Water IMHO. I wasn't weighed either prior to surgery - I wouldn't say anything either:tongue:

Denise - CONGRATULATIONS ON THE 2 LBS Yes this thing does work - it's so much easier to make good choice once you have proper restriction - and yes - drinking your water means too many trips to the bathroom  Remember all of you going under the knife for your PS WILL HAVE THE POWER OF THE LUCKY #7'S BEHIND YOU AND ALL OUR PRAYERS

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters
Good Morning Gang... Monday again - Work - but what would I do without it - gotta do something to pay for the shopping  Jackie I still look at things I don't need - but I am such a label reader and once I look at the calorie content - I put it back !!! I still miss food and eating large quantities -that's why the band is so perfect for me - I can't :tt1: I don't have Karri's disciplined - well I do have quite a bit - but I don't think I am as good as she is - She is our IDOL... Being afraid of being an empty nester - well you may not having them live under your roof in a few yrs - but they will ALWAYS be your kids. Start practicing now (find other things to do with your time - hobbies (besides cleaning you OCD girl) I guess I didn't worry about it (empty nester) I had the responsibility since I was 16 and I sort of looked forward to not having the responsibility - but then I end up with my GS - so for the most part of my life I have had the responsibility of kids. And no matter how old they are you still worry about them... Linda On OVC the suggestion they gave on buying bathing suits - go up one size - I have always found that to be true. I would have to try on a suit before buying online - then once I knew my size I would buy it. That's a funny thing - not knowing your size - I would like to go on the show how to look good naked (not the naked part though the would have to put a super blur lens on to cover the sag and I really don't want to show the whole world my body - but i digress) I would like to stand next to someone to gage my size - I look at my 10's and just don't believe that's me I still am so afraid that I will wake up and be fat again - or lose the determination... I have my demons I watched the biggest loser finally last night - and Ali said - I gained 5lbs at a time - I didn't know how I had gotten so fat - I said OH that's me - that's why I have my 5lbs limit.. Denise I am with you on the being afraid of pain - that's what keeps me from the PS - I am so afraid of the pain. What was your pain level after the band surgery - that should tell you how you deal with it.. Candice Lucky Girl - got the day off - I wish I did... I would be at the gym right now instead of sitting here at work. Good job  on getting more exercise.. Phyl Just gotta report - we STILL have the WIND  - but hopefully suppose to stop tomorrow. I see on the weather report that you & Karri are in for more rain  Well now you have your WII and you can still get your exercise :biggrin2: Kristin - Where are you chickie !!!! What did you do this weekend.. Karri - Did you have a 4 a.m. day today - If it weren't for my lil bear I would have over slept... I forgot to turn on the alarm when I went to bed last night - at 5:45 Bear was barking at me - I open my eye and it was light outside - Sfaye11 - Welcome to LBT - as you can see we are July 07 bander's and we have done quite well - we are here for support - info - friendships we even have a marathon runner in our presents not - Hope your July 08 group is as good as ours!! If you have any questions - feel free to ask we will be happy to answer your questions. Kari - You did great on your CHOICE cake but no ice cream - that's what I'm talking about - see you can have your cake and eat it too - just now adays it's not the whole freaking cake  Ruby - How are things with DH today - I know he doesn't know us from Adam - but our thought and prayers are with you & the family Steph - I bet you can't wait til you get your total gym - My x and I had one - it's pretty good - but just like most exercise equipment back then it just became a clothes collecter Has anyone see the new Ab glider - I saw the infomercial yesterday looked pretty good and easy - I love easy - but they don't give you price only 19 for 30 day trial - that means it's expensive.... Ok gotta ck my desk - CBL  OH ya - I am on my 1st bottle of water...:biggrin2:

Ruby - I am so very sorry for the loss of your MIL.. Hugs - There really isn't much to do for your DH except be there - That's the worse part of losing someone - you feel so helpless - you what to help and take their pain away - but we can't. Hugs & Prayers for your family. CONGRATS ON BEING OVERWEIGHT ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Karri - Way to go girl:thumbup: - Running a marathon... I too got my cooking done - but it was just one dish - I will be eating turkey chili for the week :confused3: So I take it ground chick is like ground turkey.. =========================================== Linda - Isn't shopping so much more funner (I know no such word ) ============================================= Mango - Great news for your BR - You know we will all be with you in spirt on 6/3 - and we are the Lucky #7's :conehead:-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Phyl - OMW you got a Wii - Great For you !! You are going to get your exercise in aren't you... ============================================= Well, I didn't do much today - washed ironed - watched t.v. took a nap - cooked and now on the computer heading back to the tv :incazzato: Just wanted to ck in - nothing to report boring day - no shopping but great for the pocket book... cbl  Lin

Good Morning Gang !! It's Sunday the dumb dog woke me up at 5:30 for potty time - i went back to bed of course - but then she woke me up at 7... I just can't get any sleep  Jackie What a beatiful daughter - she is radient (good looking bf too) - Prom My GS had Prom last night too - I didn't know about it til he called while I was at Target yesterday. I guess his cousin talked him into going - he is in an alternative school so it wasn't a super dress up affair - But since I had plans to go out for dinner I wasn't here when he left - I said I would cancel dinner - he say no biggie lala - you will see the picutres - when he got home at 12 he has this little wallet size in a key chain - Gotta see if we can enlarge it Candice At least you got your exercise - That great Steph We are the QVC queens aren't we - Today is a new day - Good Choice and Water. Well, we went to Olive Garden last night - I had grilled shimp carpese (sp) and soup - ate about 1/4 of the soup - mostly the broth part - 1 inch of the bread stick - and about 5 shrimp and 4 - 5 bites of the pasta. Then we went to Mervyns and I got a skirt (MEDIUM) and got home around 9:30 but the cable went out and I couldn't get online. I finished my shimp and had a couple (4) bites of my pasta and then threw the stuff away cuz the pasta was good and I had no problems eating it - Calories yesterday 1180 - was shot on my water by 1 bottle Well, I need to return some white capris to Khols didn't try them on at the store but did when i got home yesterday they fit in the waist but omw the legs are too baggy - so back they go,... Just cking in - CBL

I have a complaint!
Steph - I had it freshman in high school - 1970 :wub: you take a sentence underline the noun verbs prepositional phrase adjectives etc - i really don't remember but you had to identify the parts of the sentence with the above - i cheated my way thru that part of English:lol::crying: Or you can come to Cali - 80's and sunny - jb can come to and I'll make you both lunch
-
What do I do NOW?!
Of course I fight with myself all the time - as I drive home from work I give myself all these excuses as to why I don't have to go exercise - but I chose not to listen to that little devil on my shoulder telling me oh skipping isn't going to hurt - or tomorrow is another day - I don't wait for tomorrow to start over - I start over immediately after I have fallen down - the whole procrastination is part of the reason we are fat in the 1st place - we are so full of excuses as to why we can't do stuff - like eat healthy. It all goes back to the lifetime lifestyle change for me - You don't beat yourself up after a slip - you recognize it and then move forward - this is a new learning experience - you just keep on pulling up those boot straps and keep moving forward and soon it will become a habit that you will know in your heart that you have to do it order to live your new healthy lifestyle.. Good Luck -

Peaches - When you click on multi quote it should turn colors the white words turn green - then on the last person you want to quote you hit quote Suggestion on nite time eating - I am totally with you on that one - I still do it - but now the calories are budgeted to cover those Snacks - for the most part I eat light during the day (usually don't have snacks between Breakfast & lunch & lunch & dinner ) I have my dinner then popcorn 95% of the time - or fruit - cant wait until we get some USA watermelon that's good - fudgecicle or pudding - or some lite pringles with lite sour cream Truly just like an addict once I start eating - I can't stop - last night I had about 3 oz of fish only 1/4 c rice 1/4 c spinach - I was full - but kept trying to eat one more bite - finally said this is stupid - so I thru the leftovers out so I couldn't keep trying to take that one more bite. It's that whole clean plate club that we were brought up with.. Last night got up at 1 (gs was coming in) took the dogs out got a 1/2 banana and pb - wasn't really hungry (habit) ate too fast and you all know what happen then:eek: Just buy low calorie foods and don't keep the junk in the house then you can't eat it - hows the restriction going. The reason I have my little book is that it's with my 24/7 and I don't have to log on to the computer to count. Linda you have valid points that I totally agree with - that's why I say it's such a complicated subject and there are no easy answers - You are right about the malpractice for doc and the drug companies - is a big part of the reason everything cost so much. Karri - Sorry that your race was cancelled:frown: - 13 degrees It's 71 right now suppose to get into the 80s  with some winds.. Well did my 3 miles - burned 425 calories had my incline up to an 8  and know what in the beginning after 2 miles i was soaking wet down past the collar of my tshirt - now my head still sweats but not as bad as it did 9 months ago... Ruby yesterday got my Water in - just finished by 1st for the day - 3 more to go.. Well i need to get my butt in gear - nails - tanning - bday shopping and something else - I always think during the week that on the weekend i need to do this or that - and then when the weekend comes I forget.. I guess I need to have a page in my food diary to log the stuff I want to do then on Sat mornings I can read it and see what I had planned :crying:

Peaches - Good Morning you and I are the only ones up so far - well at least on the computer:tongue: Fitday.com is good- then there is calorieking and sparkspeople?? I have used fit day but I was given a book when I started (calorie king) between that and my food scale (it tells me calories & Protein grms etc) that's what I use along with reading labels - If I go out to lunch or dinner I will google what I ate we will say from Togo's and I usually can find the calories that way - I have a little book that I carry with me and jot down what I ate calories & protein. Since I eat mostly the same thing every day - I don't have to look up too much - after doing this for 9 months I have gotten pretty good at guesstimating my calories. I have had other people tell me they didn't get banded to count calories or weigh & measure food but I think it's a great learning tool - since us fat chicks seem to under-estimate - or don't know how many calories are and a servicing and most importantly what a serving size really is - Exercise - omw I walk for an hour and burn anywhere from 350 to 400 calories depending on my incline - that's not very much ihmo for all that work - it should be 1000 calories burn - that the thinking of a fat chick.. I have a lady I work with who is thin - I asked her once how she stayed that way - she said that when she has put on a little weight and wants to lose it she eats 1000 calories a day and writes everything do. It has been proved that people who track their calories do better than people who don't - It's not difficult at all Will I do this forever - I don't know - but 9 months out I still am - I guess I will until I get to goal and am able to maintain. Question for you on the Universal health care - Did it cover your lap band? In a way we have it but only for emergency - they can't turn you away but us tax payer are truly paying for those who don't I believe we (the States) need some kind of system so that everyone can go to the doctor - example my x had a heart attack - he is on disability and can't afford his meds - can't get assistance cuz he owns a house - his house payment is like $350 - come on they want you to sell your house and then pay $1000 rent somewhere the money you got from selling your house would then be used to pay your new higher living expenses. It is a very complicated problem - And I sure and the hell don't know the answer - but some people do need help and being the conservative liberal that I am - I hate seeing people suffer - Not everyone in this world is going to have high paying jobs with insurance - we do have ppl who only make min wage and heck that's not enough to live on - they are working trying to raise a family - My soap box - I guess I will step down
-
Need encouragment
Jamie Welcome to Lbt.. Please know that the band is only a tool - it in itself doesn't make you lose the weight - It's only a tool to make you feel full faster once you have proper restriction and it does help curb your appetite some. This is a lifetime lifestyle change in your eating - eating healthy - I eat carbs - but not a lot - I usually have 1/2 cup of rice with dinner. You can eat around the band too - all the crap (candy cookies chips ice cream) all go thru real easy - slider foods - slides right thru. You can not continue to eat high fat foods - food loaded with sugar and tons of carbs. Yes you can lose with the help of the band - but you are going to have to do the work - by eating healthy and changing your whole outlook on food and adding exercise into your life. The band is not the easy way to lose the weight it still takes work. It takes will power to eat healhty and to exercise when you really don't want to. Most people who are thin do not pig out 24/7 they eat normal portions 4 oz of steak a little potatoe and some veggies instead of the 16 oz steak - with a load baked potato - the bread basket - soup & salad and then want dessert - this is how fat people eat not thin.. So as long as you do the work you will be successful. But if you expect the band to do all the work - then you will be disappointed. Keep reading and researching - Good Luck in your journey.

Karri Glad you made it home safe & sound. My doc does the fills and always give me lidocane first - but mine are blind fills... I am glad to hear that you can now eat without pain.. Ya that's a bad mistake - did they note that in the file??? My cholesterol is 175 so I think the elevated bad one is about the creamer like I said it's not that bad and over all ok - so I am not freaking - I have never had a cholesterol problem before. I don't think I need that fill - I think it was just the hormones talking.. I am able to eat a little more (full cup of veggies instead of 1/2 c) but that's no biggie - Veggies are free to me.. I agree about chasing a number - I the pressure was getting to me. My opinion is that if you keep adjusting your goal weight lower you will always kind of feel like a failure because you won't ever hit goal - Yes this is how I was feeling - I want to get to goal for once in my lifetime:tongue: and with the whole saggy skin issue even if I lost the other 10 lbs - the skin would sag that much more.. I am sorta tired of the whole get on the scale issue - will it be a loss - I dread Thursday mornings sometimes. I will still aways weight on Thursdays - but I won't be disappointed if it doesn't move - as long as it never goes above my 5 lb limit. My original goal in July was 170 - and I changed that a while back like January - I really don't remember - but I really feel 160 is a good number - I am a normal 10 that's good - I look at myself and think who is that girl. I am happy so 5 lbs and I will be good - and we agree - any extra - is good and great - icing on the cake... Well, I made spinach for my folate vit I am lacking - so I better go eat Will talk to you all later..

it hurts to drink water
Have you called your doctor?? I suggest that you do.. Are you taking small sips or are you trying to drink like you use to. I can not guzzle water like I use to - I have to take smaller sips As far as eating what are you eating - tiny bites (use baby spoon) eat slowly - I doubt you on on real food yet so I can't tell you to chew. With the band you will have to re-learn how to eat - No more shoveling, no more guzzling - If after doing these things and you still have pain - I would call your doc. Good Luck

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters
My nutristionist is full of crap - The way she talked I needed to see pcp- I guess I need more spinach too - but i do eat but not every day. Plus I had not fasted - I hadn't eaten but did have coffee w/sf creamer and splenda that morning Less than 100 mg/dL Optimal 100 to 129 mg/dL Near Optimal/ Above Optimal 130 to 159 mg/dL Borderline High 160 to 189 mg/dL High 190 mg/dL and above Very High

Phyl I agree I really don't have any temptations - it's all about choices aka trade offs - budgeting calories If I really really want something I will have a lower calorie version or just one serving not the whole darn thing. Yesterday at the grocery store while bagging my food - they had these little sample packs of some kind of candy - Choc - the girl threw 3 of the little baggies in my bag - I just told her no thank you I don't want those and she took them out great NSV - plus I was tired hungry and I might have eaten them and I don't need them - I want my last 5 lbs gone Yes that's right I changed my ticker back to 160 - I truly feel that that's going to be a good weight that I can live with and if I do go below so be it - icing on the cake - but for once in my life I want to get to goal and for my age I think its a good weight - I read an article that the majority of the women are 5'4 and weigh 164 lbs.. So I will be 4lbs less than the average - and size 10 ain't nothing to sneeze at either - was 18/20 in pant last July Steph - Choice to eat 1 or 2 egg rolls and that's it - you will be full if you can even eat 2 - I could only eat 1/2 of one at the fair this yr. Peaches - So I take it socialized/universal medicine isn't all that it's cracked up to be... You gotta wait 3 months for something - Here in the states that can't turn you away at the ER if you are sick but after they fix you up then send you to the county hospital (medical/welfare) Linda - Good choice !!! sounds good - I'm hungry You are right about the grandkids - I will always take care of them.. Dinners tomorrow - It's me and my fur babies tonite OH I ALMOST FORGOT... Got the results (well sort of ) of my blood test I need FOLIATE ?? and get this my bad cholesterol was 100 it's now 121 WTF is that about - I am not eating 1/4 of the fat I use to eat.. My overall cholesterol is 175 but the bad has jumped?? Maybe it's the olive oil - prior to banding I used canola/corn oil blend - I just can't believe this - I am 85 lbs light but my bad cholesterol increases... and I exercise.. I guess I am going to have to try that steel oatmeal ???
-
Hi, Everyone....I think I'll be the contrarian voice here...
Dude - Don't you get it we really don't care anymore - you are the minority and part of your problem was that you didn't seek medical help for your complications when you should have "you won the battle but lost the frickin war" Go on Oprah (ya we all know how much she hates WSL) - It's not the band's fault that you had crappy doctors - it's not the band's fault that you didn't get medical attention when you should have - it's not the bands fault that you weren't educated about the band prior to surgery. You can spout all your personal experiences to someone who wants to hear them - someone like Oprah - but now you are here talking to people who love there bands - who have not had the complications you have had. By the responses to your post - in percentages we (happy uncomplicated banders) out number you. So what's your point - you are not going to convince us the band is bad - and no I am not going to pin point in which of your many post you stated that - but it was inferred with statements like the go to doc say the band is going to be pulled and that pretty soon attorney will be advertising it you are banded call me - I know I am added fuel to your fire and think I am going to have to delete subscription to this thread cuz I am so over it... You might win some $$$ but there is such thing as contributory negligence and you did contribute to your problems..

Phyl Too Funny  - Sunny with a little haze and a little breeze Ruby - Just drink your tea and call it a day.. Well, we have been very quite today!!! Water only 1 1/2 down so far - need 2 1/2 more  Lunch today was beans 1/2 cup and 1/2 cup barbacoa (shredded beef mex style) didn't eat the rice or bread and no soda - and there were donuts in the lunch room - I DID NOT EAT ANY.... Not even the 3 bite rule.. That's cuz I am going out to dinner tomorrow nite w/gf for her bday Trade offs - that's my new catch phrase :tt1:

Well said - Ditto!!!

What do I do NOW?!
I too had last meal mentality - gained 6 lbs between original visit and pre-op (6 wks) But don't be under the impression that you are going to DEPRIVE yourself for the REST OF YOUR LIFE - That's an untrue statement. This is a lifetime lifestyle change in your eating - It's about eating healthier (low fats - low sugar) but it's not about depriving yourself If I want steak I eat 4 ozs of steak not 16 ozs of steak - If I want a piece of cake I have 1/2 piece of cake not the whole darn thing - I eat anything and everything I want in MODERATION. What has changed is now I eat 1/4 of what I ate before - I follow a Weight Watcher type eating plan - Protein - Carbs - Veggies - I eat anywhere between 900 to 1200 calories a day - I exercise 4 days a week I keep a food/exercise diary - I log all my food & exercise (as a learning tool) The band is a great tool to help with our portion control but that's all it is. It's not the cure all to our issues with food. There is a lot of mental work to do with the band. Suggestion - in preparing for the band - Think before you put that food in your mouth - why am I eating this - am I hungry or is something bugging me - Eat slowly - Chew - start eating off sandwich plates and child's bowls and use child's utensils. Eat protein first - then veggie - then starches. Don't drink with your meals & up to 1/2 hr after (my doc's order)

Am I Too Old For Banding Opp
Congratulations - I remember the day I got the call and my surgery was approved and I got my date... I was just so jazzed and on top of the world.. As you can see "thechild aka Iamwiththeband" hasn't been back - I wonder why
