  1. Wow, honestly, wtf? I am sorry. I didn't have a bowel prep at all. There is no reason to do this from a health standpoint. Clinical research does not show that this improves outcomes since the area being operated on is all above the bowels. Did they give you a reason for this?
  2. I've never been scoped and hopefully don't have to. My doc only does it if something is wrong.
  3. day 3/4 were the worst, it will get better very soon. Ditto on the walking.
  4. Well, despite the stall and feeling irritable, your weight loss is fantastic!!! Nice job!
  5. Sorry you are dealing with this. Hope you get our tummy issues resolved and then some help beyond pills for depression. It is really unfortunate that medication is thrown at us for everything, especially depression, and sometimes we just need a little more than that. This time of year is tough too with it being so dark and cold. Hope you get better soon.
  6. There are going to be some who disagree with me on this but I quit worrying about it. I do eat foods geared towards protein - shrimp (often), kashi go lean, carb control tortillas (for pizza - often with chicken). I never found a decent protein powder and my surgeon recommends not using them after 4 weeks because he wants it to come from food source anyway. In the morning I either eat kashi go lean, eggs, protein pancakes (check our eggface recipes - she's amazing), and sometimes I drink smoothies (2% plain chobani greek yogurt, 1 cup of baby spinach, natural puree juice, frozen fruit chunks like mangoes, blueberries, cherries, and a dash of sugar free vanilla torani syrup). Good luck.
  7. Isopure is disgusting and I lost my receipt after buying it. What a waste. ugh.
  8. So why not consider doing the bypass instead. My understanding is that people with acid reflux prior to surgery should not have this surgery and rather opt for the bypass. Our clinic won't perform the sleeve on anyone with reflux prior to surgery.
  9. Oh man, I can totally relate to being the fat one. Most of my friends are vegan, super outdoorsy, and pretty much ripped. I am so looking forward to being able to sit outside on the deck with them this summer and not feel out of place. Thanks for posting!
  10. Ditto on the bleching It helps tremendously. I also feel like I wish I had inforporated Fiber into my diet from day 1. I also wish I had found a Protein shake that I actually liked before the surgery so I didn't have to scramble around trying to find one. Good luck!!!
  11. One day at a time my friend. We've all been there. Tomorrow, you will wake up and the sun will rise again. It will be a new day and each moment is new too. Why look back when you can look ahead? (as your name here implies) I suppose it's alright to refelct for purposes of learning but I hope you won't judge yourself over this because it was a moment that has passed and you can move forward on whatever path you choose. Bless you and know that you have support here. Steph
  12. I am totally with you! I recently ate dinner with my family at a korean restaurant and ate a wonderful spicy korean soup made with very soft tofu. I actually had this while still on my soft foods diet. Tofu is pretty good if you give it a chance.
  13. Give it a little more time. It will get better. I suggest getting out and walking, even if only for 5 or 10 minutes at a time. This will help the gas resolve much faster and you are going to feel better. You are still early out and everone is different in their recovery and weight loss.
  14. I preface this message with a statement that I have abosultely no relationship to this company whatsoever. Sugar Free Torani Syrups are awesome. I wish I ordered them earlier. I especially like the raspberry and hazelnut. I have been eating chobani flavored yogurt (yep, with sugar) because I couldn't choke down the plain stuff. The Torani Syrup, just a little, adds enough sweet to make plain yogurt palatable. I've also been making super smoothies in the morning, which consist of 1 cup spinach, frozen cherries, mango, or blueberries, greek yogurt, skim milk, and a Tbsp or so of torani vanilla syrup. I sometimes use prune juice or apricot nectar instead of milk if I am having "issues". Just wanted to share.
  15. Yep, stall, welcome to the club. Mine began to nudge down this past week but barely.
  16. Congrats!! I love it when you post because our surgeries were around the same time. It's nice to see your updates. Keep up the great work!!
  17. Get a bento box. Cook yourself a turkey breast, chicken breast/thigh or ham steak and cut it up. Ditto for some real cheese (vs. "cheesefood") - slice it yourself. Throw in some blue berries for good measure. Bam, you have your very own do-it-yourself lunchable with a ton more nutrition. AND I promise that it will taste way better!!!!
  18. Interesting. Who said you are exercising too much? Are you thinking you aren't getting enough calories? It's possible to run off what you take in so you may need to increase calories?? Not an expert in this. I am meeting with a health coach next week to talk about this because I have experienced the same kind of thing.
  19. I am 6 weeks out. I can eat 1/2 cup of cottage cheese, 3/4 of a chobani yogurt and could definitely put down a cup of pudding (if I liked the stuff). I was taught in my program to eat until satieted and try to limit the day to 3 meals. If I feel hungry, I can have a snack and usually choose a wedge of laughing cow cheese, a bit of salad (mostly lettuce), a cooked shrimp (I say cooked because there are some who eat it raw - eww). I would love to hear about others who have these 2 ounce restrictions because it is a different approach than I have.
  20. To be totally honest, the pain was minimal. Seriously, I was shocked by how little pain there was. I expected much worse. I did not take anything when I went home, not even Tylenol. I remember feeling a bit uncomfortable trying to sleep on my side and having annoying gas pain. But, I have had period cramps so much worse. One thing that I did have an issue with was the narcotic in the hospital and this is something that has occured in the past for me. I was very itchy and so had to stop taking it, which was fine by me because I hate how that stuff makes me feel. Good luck and don't worry so much that you forget to prepare for post-op. Spend your mental time preparing and making sure you have all the food/supplements/protein that you need. I wish I had made sure I had a protein shake I knew I could stomach before the surgery.
  21. I stalled for 2 weeks and things just started moving again as of today, finally!!! I added some yoga and a little more walking to my routine. I also started taking fiber caplets (go figure) everyday and stopped taking Iron (my doctor recommended this). I don't eat anything with wheat in it, sugar, or beef(makes me sick). I do eat whole milk ricotta, full fat cheese, 2% yogurt, fish, beans, shrimp, and smoothies made with spinach, fruit and yogurt. I also add ground flax seed to my food as well. Not sure what is helping (thinking it's the exercise more than anything) but I thought it would never end.
  22. That sounds like an allergy. I had a problem with the pain medicine making me super itchy and as soon as I stopped taking it, I was completely fine. With that said, you definitely need to see someone right away because if it is an allergy, you need to figure out what it is and stop exposing yourself to it.
  23. I drank a protein shake in the morning suring my pre-op or had an eggwhite omelet.
  24. I stalled Dec. 24 (surgery was Dec. 7) and I am still stalled out. I read the article Butterthebean posted almost everyday to remind myself of what is happening. Boy it sure does suck though!!!
